I once left DS1 and when I came back he had got from his beanbag to his rocker chair. Aged about 4 months.

Except of course he hadn't. In my knackered state I had forgotten where I had put him!

captainmummy · 22/08/2013 20:09

Beautiful pictures, waves - and isnt he a sound sleeper ! Grin

Lovely family shots. I like the black and white ones.

wavesandsmiles · 22/08/2013 21:11

Oh my god. I have 25 hours to prepare for an interview, and need to get up to speed on a totally new type of product, regulation, and research the company. ARGH!!!! How the devil am I going to manage this with baby brain????!!!!!

I have just sent the printer into overdrive and am about to completely immerse myself in wrap platforms, FSA regulation since their introduction to the UK, thoughts on changing regs since the RDR and the potential direction for future regulation and then cry a little. As well as explaining why I am fully committed to relocation, the opportunities presented by the company, and how I can adapt my current skill base.

Talk about giving virtually no notice, or time to prepare.

I also have new music to learn for a gig on Saturday (plan for tomorrow lunchtime), an outing in the afternoon, tidying and cleaning one of the rooms I let that is being vacated tomorrow, and trying to pack for our holiday. Which I am really, REALLY going to need at this rate.

Vibes for a good sleep, a sponge-like brain to absorb this information, and a positive telephone interview needed. Oh gosh, I know I usually manage a fair amount, but this is scary. (Have also been asked to interview for another company next week, but am postponing that as I don't want to spend my break telephone or Skype interviewing)

I don't want to mess it up.

OP posts:
MissStrawberry · 22/08/2013 21:24

You won't mess it up.

Get a note book for making notes and bullet points.

Think about what reasons you want to give for the wanting to relocate - new baby has inspired you to step back into the world of work and X is somewhere you have wanted to live for a long time. For example.

wavesandsmiles · 22/08/2013 21:37

Thanks Miss S - I will stop my manic printing and googling and take my notebook and pen up to bed. About half an hour til Caspian probably wakes up so I will try to calm down a little Smile

OP posts:
WingDefence · 22/08/2013 21:38

You won't mess it up. I find repeating three words helps to calm me before interviews or big presentations eg 'calm, professional, knowledgable' over and over. And remember to breathe and also repeat back trickier questions, slightly rephrased so you know you've got the jist of it.

And my no 1 tip for a phone interview? SMILE Grin as they will hear it over the phone. I wrote SMILE all over my notes obviously not for really tough questions or you may come across slightly mad

Best of luck Cake

WingDefence · 22/08/2013 21:40

And can you start a thread asking for the main bullets points that you need to know? I'm sure MNers in the know will be more than willing to help you digest all the info?

springytoffs · 23/08/2013 01:54

If anybody can do this, you can, that's for sure!

Of course you can do this! Switch sides, like driving on the other side of the road when you're abroad. Change over.

You can play different clefs, I imagine - same note on the page, different note on what you're playing (I'm thinking recorders here, when it's the same instrument only bigger/smaller) - just a case of switching sides, changing over. Of course you can do it.

wavesandsmiles · 23/08/2013 03:49

Springy that is a great way of thinking about this. Different clefs or even perhaps transposing?

I've read a fair bit now in prep for tomorrow and am half way through caspian's middle of the night feed. Ever since the 3 week growth spurt issue he seems in a pretty good overnight pattern whereby he feeds 11 til 12 ish, then 3 til 4 ish then wakes again between 7 and 8.

I remember people saying that everything would feel so much better once I had him and wasn't bein sick. Well, I think my energy levels have returned to normal and I actually do feel better than I have done for best part of a year. Caring for 3 DCs by myself really is a walk in the park compared to hyperemesis.

Good luck with the interview! I'n sure you'll rock it!

MinnieBar · 23/08/2013 07:14

Just try to keep it short when they ask you what your greatest challenge has been recently Wink

Good luck!

AgathaF · 23/08/2013 07:20

Really good luck for the interview. You can do it, and I'm sure you will!

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 23/08/2013 08:02

Good luck. I have no doubt that you can do this. Thanks

WingDefence · 23/08/2013 08:12

Grin MinnieBar.

Listmaker · 23/08/2013 09:23

Good luck with the interview. Reckon if anyone can do it you can!

Also belated congratulations on the birth of lovely baby Caspian - I had an accident and have been in hospital etc so unable to post!

wavesandsmiles · 23/08/2013 11:53

Are you fully recovered List? Thanks for your congratulations.

The interview went really well. Caspian woke up hungry half way through so I ended up feeding him during the second half! Apparently it is highly likely they will want to set up a second interview ASAP although there are more people to interview. Am amazed I managed to retain last nights acquired knowledge despite the baby brain issues and in fact it was mainly about my experience and skills base which is essentially completely transferable so I am feeling FAR more confident now about my future. It has also made me realise how much I miss using my work brain!

Might have to start doing a little bit of googling of rental properties and nurseries/childcare just in case. I can probably rent my place here out to cover the mortgage rather than rush a sale so it is certainly all very very possible. And feels so much more achievable too.

Oh, and I realised I shouldn't be surprised at his rolling over, he is the Acrobat after all.

If anyone would like to meet up next week, we will be at the natural history museum in London on Wednesday, in Brighton Thursday and Friday (until mid afternoon) or that area anyway.

ah yes, transposing (long time since my music A level Blush )

Glad to hear interview went well, you clever woman you. But we knew that! Ms spinning a hundred plates at once with ease! Grin . I really do think that if you can get through the h-i-d-e-o-u-s past 10 months-ish, you can get through anything at all. You've been proved in the furnace my dear - we none of us would volunteer for it, eh, but the fruits are stupendous.

How exciting that a big move is looking easily attainable. Well done, you absolute star Smile

MissStrawberry · 23/08/2013 18:01

Hurray!!! WELL DONE Wink.

WingDefence · 23/08/2013 19:02

Well done waves!!

AgathaF · 24/08/2013 07:16

Well done. As usual you did brilliantly. I think you are super-human!

wavesandsmiles · 24/08/2013 08:34

Feeling good again today. To be honest I think my interviewer was more nervous than me as she'd never done an interview over the phone before. But she seemed very lovely and was not at all bothered that I had to take a moment so caspian could get attached for his feed, and later the health visitor arrived early and so she was happy to break off and called me back 20 minutes later.

We did so much yesterday. After lunch we met DDs godmother at the park then went to a cafe for a cup of tea (I love cups of tea so much again now the HG has gone) It was lovely at the park, C got hungry so I sat feeding him under a tree whilst the others played. Then twunt phoned to tell us about a free outdoor cinema thing and did we want to go along. So we did. All 4 big children had lovely cuddles with their baby brother, and were really impressed with the sling and had a go at baby wearing. After the film, which was at the beach, the DCs swam for a while. All the fresh sea air worked a charm as C slept for a 4.5 hour stretch last night Smile

It is ok seeing twunt now. It's like a switch has been flicked. Can't explain the difference but it is a good difference. Ever since my final wobble, it is like all the negative energy and hopes have vanished. Now he is just a person. This isn't making much sense, trying to put it into words.

Playing for a wedding this afternoon, afterwards havin MIL and SIL round for a cuppa, then I really must pack. It's nearly time for our holiday Smile

Very glad to hear the twunt switch has flicked!

captainmummy · 24/08/2013 15:03

Waves you have done so much, come so far, and you're still going (onwards, and upwards!)

Have a great holiday with your lovely little family.
