I found some knickers that are not mine. Can anyone come up with an explanation ?

OK. H just back from a weekend away with his friends, doing a sporting activity.

I found some women's knickers that are not mine, and not my DC's, openly left out on our bedroom dressing table.

Has anybody any ideas of what could be an appropriate explanation for this ? At the moment, I am struggling to see one. I am asking him about it later when the DC are in bed.

No other signs, or history, of playing away, btw. Just this.

Openly left out? are they new? maybe they are a present? hmmm, nah, i'm not buying that either. Are they his size? Could they have got mixed up at the event? he thought they were yours so with nothing to hide........

I would leave them there, exactly where you saw them, take a photo of them in situ, and say nothing. Later, see whether they're there. If they're not, ask him what's going on. I would be interested to see whether he was going to hide them.

Maybe a prank one of his mates played? He unpacked and found them and left them there for... erm... You?

they would fit him with a squeeze, I suppose

not a present for me, I wouldn't wear this type of underwear (not remotely "present" like)

they are used, they have that peculiar "bleaching" of the gusset that black knickers get for some people (I learned that on MN, btw)

How old a re your DC?

My DD has brought home other peoples knickers before

i'd say he found them in his bag and thought they were yours, put them on the dressing table as he unpacked.

my DC would not know anyone of their own age that would wear this type of underwear, so not likely to be anything to do with them

All of the above. Could be a OW but also could be a prank, got mixed up etc.
I like the idea of taking a photo and if they 'go missing' ask about them.

We once arrived at a holiday rental and found a pair in a ball under a chair. Did make me about the cleaning but maybe you're DH didn't notice and bundled them up with his clothes (am presuming that your DH, like mine, leaves ALL clothes on the floor and packs by stuffing into a bag!)

Someone else's bleached gusset knickers. I would not be impressed whatever the reason is. If it was an OW presumably she'd wear better knickers than those though.

He must have picked them up by mistake. If they belonged to OW surely she would have her best lacey ones on...not old< ahem> stained ones.

Sporty underwear.... He's just back from a sporting weekend..... We just need the sportsman/woman now!

the bag is his, no-one else uses it that I know of

I didn't notice the knickers earlier today, but saw them a couple of hours ago

I can't guarantee they haven't been there since last night though

I have them in my pocket just now for when I ask him if he knows anything about them

I think of Sloggis as mumsy, middle aged big knickers (my mum wears them)
