Lovesineffable: I've done the casual thing- two very pleasant flings but not what I want now- it was good for me to get the taste of my ex-husband out of my mouth (palate cleansing so to speak) but it's never really been my thing. I've heard of speed dating, far as I know it still goes on, problem is it would involve getting dressed & leaving the house (I work from home and need a very good reason to do that)
If I could just stay at home but make sure I looked presentable from the shoulders up some sort of online version of speed dating would work for me

I go through the messages and go fancy him, dont fancy him, him or him, so delete, then again, fancyish him, read the messages etc, see if someone has sonething DIFFERENT to say, something that actually show they ahve read about you not just looked at your picture!

Try okcupid, it is a lot less intense in my experience than POF, and worth a go or oasis, cos you have to allow them to contact you on there. DONT DISPAIR, keep at it!

OMG this thread is moving fast tonight. I am still catching up with Poppa and think you need to listen to Time on this, she is so wise. Your friend sounds like she doesn't really know what she wants but hasn't ruled you out and probs need your attention. I think we all need to be prepared to get burnt, i think both dating and life is about getting burnt, learning your lessons and being prepared for next time!

loves, I couldn't stomach speedating in the flesh but did a version of it for work. An ice breaker based on the concept, but not dating just getting on with colleagues, and the weird thing was I got to share common interests with a couple and quite fancied them by the end of the sess :)
