Continued from Makes post and in reply of:

Make just ask him. Why not? And of course you are going to be a bit of a mystery woman, he's only just blooming met you! Send him a message saying if he fancies unravelling a bit of the mystery then to get in touch because you would like to see him again. Be playful, be teasing, be fun, make him want you Make Grin

I'm pleased you are having fun but I do have to ask, is all this dating costing you loads of money?? New outfits etc Grin

Something, oh yes I get lots of kisses. He's someone I've known a long time but it's an nsa situation.

something2say · 15/01/2012 16:22

Oh Ok fair enough - nice hot date of a Saturday night then! ;)

stayfornoone · 15/01/2012 16:27

I live in skinny jeans. Well actually they are Jeggings! I have four pairs of exactly the same ones, how sad is that?! Grin

If it was myself something, it would be skinnys, a nice top to dress it up a little and boots. I only tend to wear dresses for more formal type occasions.

Wear what you would feel most comfortable in and enjoy yourself! The pub sounds lovely! I adore open fires! Hope it all goes well! :)

lubeybooby · 15/01/2012 17:46

Hello all, just popping in with an un-dating related WHOOP! because I have lost 9lbs. Hurrah, back on track for my 2012 goal :o I will leave out the bit about how many are left to go

Actually it isn't all that unrelated - because it's all part of a self improvement grand plan. So there ya go :o

something2say · 15/01/2012 19:05

Well done Lubeybooby! 9lbs is a good amount to lose, bet you can really feel that!

Man 2 has proferred his number!

And Friday night man has invited me to a local open mic which I am going to go to even tho I don't fancy him.

How exciting this all is!

adamschic · 15/01/2012 19:36

Lubey, well done with the weight loss.

Something, glad you are enjoying the possibilities.

lubeybooby · 15/01/2012 19:46

Thanks :o I can, I feel miles better already! Lots left to go but I did well with this last year so quite confident I can now finish what I started.

s2say sounds good re: the number and the dates.

adams, your night out sounds good - had a quick read back but couldn't see if it was a date or???

adamschic · 15/01/2012 19:58

Lubey, he's a guy I have had an on-off casual thing with for the past three years, although we have history stretching way back. It's currently on atm and whilst he always treats me well he is being extra lovely recently.

EllenandBump · 15/01/2012 20:20

I am going to sound really stupid asking this question but i will ask it anyway...does someone online sending you a x at the end of every message mean they like you? He apologised and offered explanation for not being able to reply last night. Or am i just being a little too hopeful. Nice to talk to someone male and my age! (nothing to do with him being cute and sounding like a really nice bloke!)

lubeybooby · 15/01/2012 20:25

For some it's just a habit, or to denote friendliness. It's a habit I've knocked on the head as it was too tempting to put one at the end of replies to people (on MN and well.. everywhere)

EllenandBump · 15/01/2012 20:38

I hope its not a habit though, it was on OK cupid..so not sure. Completely new to internet dating! I didnt put a x on my first message, but am now. He also put love to x, does this mean he is interested? I am sooo out of the loop, 7 years though is a long time and i am only 23!! Never used to worry about these things, never had to make the first move though!

lubeybooby · 15/01/2012 20:41

I'd say that he is replying to you is a good sign that he is interested, never mind the x's :o although that's more likely to be a good sign than a bad one put it that way

EllenandBump · 15/01/2012 20:54

Glad to hear it, and god i sound so inexperienced, its not i havent had boyfriends prior to exH, but that i always knew them personally and they always asked me!

monstermissy · 15/01/2012 21:22

Hi, can i have some pointers please, just joined pof as im not that keen i want to part with my cash for a site as yet. I'm going to have to put up a pic aren't i? i don't want to though. I think people will reconise me and laugh at me in the street or something. I have looked at the girls on there in my area and there are a few faces i know. Seems popular. It all seems like a business transaction though. Some men are very to the point - what are your interests, tell me about yourself, picture? I think they may be the ones sitting in front of their laptops refreshing the page to hunt the newbies :) any help for a internet dating virgin?

something2say · 15/01/2012 21:37

Hi, I', new too, maybe one of the others can asnwer that, I dont really know the score either. Re kisses, I am very careful with all that sort of thing. What if kisses mean you are interested and then you have to backtrack?

EllenandBump · 15/01/2012 21:53

What is pof? I have no idea, i am on okcupid which is also free. Have started to put a kiss at the end of the messages now too.

Snapespeare · 15/01/2012 21:58

Just saying a quick hello to our new lovely-ladies & .well done lubey! :)

monstermissy · 15/01/2012 22:13

plenty of fish will go have a look at the cupid one too :)

PoppaRob · 15/01/2012 22:45

Lubey, you self-improving little legend girl! Well done mate!

Hi to the newbies.

mini-FAQ These threads have grown a lot and covered a lot of topics since they started in September. We've now made over 6,000 posts on seven threads! Maybe we should come up with a mini-FAQ covering abbreviations and urls for dating sites etc and paste it onto the first page of each new thread? I offer the following as a start:

Free sites:
Pof = Plenty of Fish - www.pof.com or www.plentyoffish.com
Oasis - www.oasis.com or www.oasisactive.com
OKC = OkCupid - www.okcupid.com

Definitions/Explanations:
ID = Internet dating
IE = Intimate Encounter - a "looking for" category on PoF
NSA = No strings attached
FWB = Friend(s) with benefits
Sinkbreaking sex = Amazingly physical and satisfying sex that only incredibly fit people can hope to aspire to
Cockshots = Pics, solicited or otherwise, showing the endowment of potential gentleman callers
Swiss roll = an outstandingly impressive cockshot
Standards = Unlike knickers they should never be allowed to fall
Whole nut = Gives temporary solace in the absence of dating success
Daughters / DDs = Incredibly wise young people who give (im)moral support and wardrobe advice to people navigating the minefield of internet dating

Feel free to add to the above! Wink

lubeybooby · 15/01/2012 22:49

Thanks Poppa, and excellent mini FAQ post there, love it :o

makeyerowndamndinner · 15/01/2012 23:31

Well I'm back after second date with man I was talking about before.

I didn't think that maybe my text came across as too available and too keen! Gah! That wasn't the look I was going for!

Anyway, I've had a lovely day with him. We looked round the Tate Modern, had a walk, stopped for some food, and went for a couple of beers. Spent all day together. We get on really well and I really like him.

lubeybooby · 15/01/2012 23:59

Don't worry makeyerown it doesn't seem to have fazed him after all - glad you had a good time :o

hatesponge · 16/01/2012 01:04

Make sounds like it went well!

Mr Champagne hasn't contacted me again :(Oh well. I have another few I am messaging but they're not as nice although they are much taller.

I do still have the feeling I am going to struggle to get a date even having changed my profile to IE!

HedleyLamarr · 16/01/2012 01:26

Nice one Make! My last date was Tate Modern. Bloody hell it was years ago.

Good work there Poppa!

Welcome newbies. I'm mostly a lurker, as I lack the bottle you lot have. I might have to start a fred about it...

izzywhizzyswinterwarmer · 16/01/2012 02:42

Last century, was it Hedley? It's about time they renamed it Tate Outofdate and built a modern one Smile

I've got a vacancy for a Dutch or Scandi FWB but there's been a long term rl dearth of these males in the social circles I move in.

I'm not entirely sure that I've got the bottle to join an internet dating site but I haven't got time to take myself off to Holland or get my cross country skis out and go hunting in Scandinavia.

Does anyone have experience of international dating sites - presupposing that there are such venues for discerning females who seek equally discerning males for occasional liaisons in their respective countries of residence?
