General internet dating support and chit chat thread

Relationships seems the most appropriate place for this I think? Happy to ask for it to be moved if it's maybe better in _chat or something.

Anyway!

Chit chat your dating/internet dating claptrap here!

Also your hints and tips please for dating in the shark pit on the internet

I'll start.

I'm 31, single and rather fed up of it now. Have a few internet dating profiles, am trying to improve my social life and get out more, even looking out for possible additional temp jobs just to be.... 'out there' a bit more.

Even had a go at cosmic ordering which has been cropping up in dating related threads recently. Now I'm a very scientific and cynical kind of person but when it comes to my (currently appalling) love life I will try anything to give it a bit of a boost. Whether that be focusing the mind on the task in hand or strange unknown forces I care not.

PoppaRob · 29/09/2011 12:32

Well done time! Should we call you Lucy now? "The doctor is in!" :-)

Grin Poppa I am just passing on some of the wisdom that age brings with it.

You are welcome Zany, you just relax and have a great time, you will gain something from the experience even if it isn't a boyfriend Smile

PoppaRob · 29/09/2011 12:54

Go lubey!

TimeForMeIsFree · 29/09/2011 12:54

Where did you get that from Lubey? Grin

lubeybooby · 29/09/2011 13:05

I blame the weather entirely :o an old FWB from ages ago popped round. Not totally random because I had asked him to fix my old laptop, but I wasn't expecting him today, some time next week in fact. Anyway a cuppa and a chat turned into something quite different.

PoppaRob · 29/09/2011 13:07

The geek in me has to ask... is the laptop working now? Hmm

Zanywany · 29/09/2011 13:10

My FWB has just been in touch too, saw him about a month or so ago but not SEEN him properly for about 6 months. Meeting him for a quick drink later but my DD will be with me. Sigh.....

Did you get round to fixing your laptop Lubey Wink

TimeForMeIsFree · 29/09/2011 13:11

Grin at PoppaRob!! Never mind the laptop, if he has to come back to fix it lubey will get a repeat performance!! Why do I not have any 'handy' male friends!!! Hmm

lubeybooby · 29/09/2011 13:13

Hahaaa... sod the laptop I'm too busy with my daft grin! Blimey, wasn't expecting that. Anyway he has taken it home with him so who knows. Yes, this does mean he has to bring it back at some point. What a shame

Grin lubey, even with your snotty beak you still got some! Well done!

Zany, can I ask, is it just this particular guy we were discussing in pm that you feel a lack of confidence about or in general?

Papa Smurf - That bear did have attitude! I got him when I was 7 and as my bedroom was most definitely haunted, I used to put him on the end of my bed to scare away the ghost. Though he somehow crept back into bed before the morning where I chewed his teeth and claws until they fell off Grin happy memories!

The laptop reminded me...I have a poorly desktop from a friend to fix. A female friend though, not a FWB. Never had one of those. Dont suppose I should now either!

Zanywany · 29/09/2011 13:35

I think I feel insecure anyway Stay but probably made worse because I have been getting on really well with the guy I pm'd you about and I fancy his picture like mad a bit.

Round 2 then Lubey when he returns it Wink

lubeybooby · 29/09/2011 13:38

The cold is mostly gone now thankfully. I feel grotty still but no longer have a rudolph-esque nose and artistic tissue model of Mont Blanc.

stayforthekids1 · 29/09/2011 13:49

zany then time gives great advice, enjoy the date, dont put pressure on yourself. The glass of wine will be great when getting ready just to relax you a little and listen to some good happy music, works a treat for me when I need a bit of a boost!

papa smurf step away from the bear!

lubeybooby · 29/09/2011 13:52

Oh christ... heyelp! Is anyone about to PM? Mr Friday related potential crisis.

Grin they obviously do not have faith in you being laid before christmas! Defriend them immediately, negative people drag you down :)

stayforthekids1 · 29/09/2011 14:18

oi, you should be getting ready for your nuptials. Am I the only one that thinks nuptials sounds rude?! Go get planning!
