The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Carry On Past the Valentine's Wining and Dining

1000 replies

notevenamousie · 12/02/2011 06:38

Following on from jesuswhatnext and her original very successful thread and all the many others here , this is the Brave Babes Battle Bus, sharing struggles, thoughts, experience, strength and hope concerning life but more specifically our relationship with, and our journey through, cutting down or cutting out alcohol.

There is no judging or nastiness, just support for whatever works, and if we fall out of the bus we are always welcomed back on when we are ready with open arms and listening ears.

I'm notevenamousie and I'm an alcoholic. I abused and was dependent on alcohol for months if not even a couple of years. I feel a hundred times better physically, emotionally, spiritually, since giving in the fight with alcohol, admitting I had lost, and walking away, but it's very much one day at a time.

If you are a long time lurker, why not make this thread the one you jump in and say hello!

Yep Smile

Slight wobble not so long back but otherwise, I feel bloomin fab and happy where I am in life.

You?

MIFLAW · 14/02/2011 13:34

Yes, all good, thanks.

S

notevenamousie · 14/02/2011 13:42

I don't trust my willpower because I tried that and failed, many times. I give in before I've started now. Alcohol is more powerful than me. So I need something more powerful than it.

Mouse does your wolf need walking for miles? What does Nemo think of him? (Is it a him?).

MIFLAW herbal teas?! It's posh near you, we're a little too common for that oop North!!

MIFLAW · 14/02/2011 14:03

It's only posh in Clapham.

Believe me, in the meetings I used to go to in Peckham it's a different story.

Noteven - he will do once he's bigger, and hour in the morning, once again at night. We have a HUGE garden though so once that's been secured, he'll have lots of space to play in.

He can't go out until he's had his other jabs.

Just out to the patio and in the kitchen at present.

Especially as he's not quite housetrained Grin

jesuswhatnext · 14/02/2011 15:29

everyone ok?

its lovley and sunny here, just the thing to lift the spirits! Grin

Mouseface · 14/02/2011 16:23
Shock

We've had sideways rain, sleet and gusting winds for most of the day.

Silver66 · 14/02/2011 18:37

Hey Zany

That sounds good - rather have a meal out with DD than a man any day!!

Eating an undercooked baked potato and TBH nothing worse............

with cheese tho.........Grin x

Silver66 · 14/02/2011 18:39

actually the cheese makes no difference - should have just been patient and left it another half hour........

But hey I'm eating

that's a good thing............... x

zippy539 · 14/02/2011 18:41

Blimey -just cooked mussels for dinner and dh (not thinking) brought home a bottle of wine for the purpose. Cooked the mussels and chucked the rest of the wine down the sink. My sink pipes are going to be plastered at this rate.

Silver66 · 14/02/2011 18:45

nice one Zippy - can I come over and have some (cooked)mussels hmmmmm x

zippy539 · 14/02/2011 18:45

Would like to highlight that I can't actually afford to lob booze down the plughole - only doing it with bottles that unexpectedly arrive in my house!

BBwannaB · 14/02/2011 18:46

Hi Silver how is the cracked rib doing? glad to have you back and souding cheerful.
Mouse you will be svelte as a very sleek dormouse with all that walking with the wolf ahead of you, you said you will be off the crutches soon eh?

zippy539 · 14/02/2011 18:46

Thanks silver - actually picked them from a beach so hoping we won't all have food poisoning by the morning...

Silver66 · 14/02/2011 18:51

actually having said that the last time i had mussels was in spain two years ago - absolutely gorgeous- garlic, white wine, lemon juice - one bad one and projectile vomited for 24 hours- maybe i'll give them a miss tonight Hmm x

Silver66 · 14/02/2011 18:53

Hey BB

rib not too bad - 3 weeks now BUT taking ibruprofen for three weeks feked up my stomach lining - more pills - ffs.

All in all tho am OK.

How's you?? xxx

jesuswhatnext · 14/02/2011 18:55

hi! - just a quick look in, am getting ready for ladies meeting - nice to see you silver!

zippy, you will have very clean drains! Grin

see you later aligators!! Grin

Silver66 · 14/02/2011 18:55

DD confiscated PC - be back later hopefully x

zippy539 · 14/02/2011 18:58

Arg - silver - don't say that! I'm paranoid enough as it is! :o. Maybe I'll get some sick buckets on standby...

notevenamousie · 14/02/2011 18:58

Where do you live zippy that sounds amazing! Not sure I'd even cook with wine at the moment I am just too vulnerable still (feel a bit hopeless to admit that, you all seem to just be able to walk away so much quicker than I am).

Silver I take it from the eating comment that things have been really bad? Remember we are here if and when you want to talk about whatever's happened. Are you getting to meetings? You can still go if you've been drinking, you do know that don't you??

My sponsor is coming over tonight and I am a mixture of excited and scared - never had anyone who has done for me what she is these last few weeks. I've got childminder issues at the moment churcning round in my head, going to take a couple of days to think rather than just reacting.

Hope those that mark Valentines Day have a lovely evening. x

Mouseface · 14/02/2011 19:09

Evening.

Silver - He's gorgeous. Piccy on my profile. He's the one on the left.

He's been asleep in his crate for hours. Just about to wake him for supper and take him out for a play Smile

How are YOU today? xx

noteven - why is your sponser coming? [thick mouse emoticon]

zippy539 · 14/02/2011 19:11

noteven - on half-term break in the east neuk of fife at the minute - tis lovely but now waiting for someone to post that its beaches are the most polluted in Europe... :o

Tbh I wouldn't choose to cook with alcohol - and don't generally even when drinking (prefer to ingest it direct!). I just can't have alcohol in the house - like you said earlier - I don't trust willpower. I've only been stopped 3 weeks and have already lapsed once - so very much white knuckling it the moment (hence all the wine chucking :o) . Have a lovely evening with your sponsor:)
