Mouseface · 21/01/2011 22:19

Hello all.

We are the Brave Babes. We're on the Battle Bus, travelling around sobriety and going day by day, hour by hour, through the detox hell of not drinking, cutting down or sometimes even not.

Come say hi. We won't bite. Grin

No doubt one of us has been where you are now......

It's fine. No judging, no nasty jibes, just us, the BBs.

Come meet the others..................

Silver I think if thay are making you feel that bad you should stop taking them until you talk to GP triage tomorrow? otherwise you will get dehydrated.

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 23/01/2011 19:40

they!

Mouseface · 23/01/2011 20:02

Off to bed Babes - I'm done in!!! Night all.

Silver - water! xx

silver hope you're feeling better soon, you're having a rough time of it.

Hope everyone else is having a good evening.

Zanywany · 23/01/2011 20:50

Hi just place marking. Bit of a crap weekend and feeling stupidly sorry for myself. Will post soon when I'm not feeling so down

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 23/01/2011 21:15

Hey, all,

not such a good night for us tonight, maybe? I know that I have felt better!

Lots of love, and fairy sleepy dust for all.

dementedma · 23/01/2011 22:30

co-codamol made me very sleepy and a tad constipated!
DH was home for two hours before the first row broke out. i am drinking and have had a "bad" weekend drink-wise. I thought I had it under control, but obviously not.
I am going to feel seriously crap tomorrow and have to host an event at work in the evening. Serves me right!

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 24/01/2011 07:42

Good morning all,

Well, I thought I didn't feel very well last night, and have woken up with a full blown head cold, earache and sore throat. I thought I had escaped this January Smile.

Ma I hope you don't feel too bad today, can you have a little snooze in the afternoon, or are you at work all day?

Zany I hope you are feeling a bit brighter this morning.

Silver I hope your tummy has settled down.

Have good days everyone.
Speak later. xx

dementedma · 24/01/2011 08:55

groan. at work all day and feel shite. A reminder - as if I needed one - as to why i am trying to give up!

jesuswhatnext · 24/01/2011 10:03

morning!!

MA!! - not being harsh here, just truthful - you KNOW now that alcohol is controling you, not the other way round - how many times are you going to let it dictate to you?, you are worth SO much more than this!, you dont have to spend a shitty monday, feeling like crap wishing the day away ever again! all you have to do is give in!, say 'yes, its controlling my life' and then, a day at a time you STOP! - i promise that the freedom it gives you to admit 'properly' that you need to stop is the most liberating, fantastic feeling!

in the mean time, fill up with nice cold drinks, eat some bread and take some tablets!

take care my love!!

MIFLAW · 24/01/2011 10:49

Ma

Why not stop drinking and start enjoying life?

You can't tell me that your drinking these days is fun or helpful, surely?

I'm back by the way.

Mouseface · 24/01/2011 12:31

Afternoon Babes.

Ma - lesson learnt? Plent of clear fluids and something stodgey for lunch me thinks!

MILFLAW - how's the latest addition?

DH has had to go off interviewing candidates so I'm solo with a very tired Nemo today, if anyone has any sleepy dust, can you sprinkle it over this way so that he naps in a while please?

Last night was odd here, I had 2 small (they really are tiny glasses compared to what we used to have Blush) glasses of red wine and I actually fell asleep!

I was in bed reading and the next I was out for the count. I don't often have red, I'm more a Sauv Blanc/Pinot Grigio lady.

Anyway, I was really surprised how it affected me.

It took me ages to come round when Nemo woke me at 3am too.

Think it's best to skip it in the future!

Off to unpack the weekly shop. Such an exciting life I lead Grin

All well thanks, Mouse.

It's important to remember, I think, that, whether someone is or isn't a "real" alcoholic, drinking like one, even temporarily, is very much a young (wo)man's game.

Hangover under age of 25 = ho ho ho, put the coffee on and let's pretend we are in a Jamie Oliver Sainsbury's commercial.

Hangover over age of 25 = fuck that for a laugh, I am dying.

MIFLAW · 24/01/2011 12:51

Not, of course, that 2 glasses of wine is alcoholic drinking (unless the glasses are pint glasses).

But it does hit you surprisingly hard once the tolerance wears off and I get the impression that youth is on the side of no one here.

Mouseface · 24/01/2011 13:11

Shock MIFLAW - I'll have you know I'm only 36 25! Grin

God you are so right though. When I think of all the nights out and the amount of chemicals I'd throw into my system with such gay abandon......

OUCH!

And then I'd get up and go to work all fine and dandy.

If I have more than 2 glasses of wine these days, it takes me a good 2/3 days to get over it.

It's just not worth it. At all.

dementedma · 24/01/2011 13:51

JWN and MIFLAW - yes, i hear you and you are right.

jesuswhatnext · 24/01/2011 13:56

how you feeling ma?, any better? - i remember hangovers well! Sad, particurlay monday ones!, sunday was always a real boozy day for me

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 24/01/2011 14:12

Hello,

How are you Ma have you managed to get some nice stodgy lunch?

JWN what did you think of the film last night? We went on Saturday, and I don't think I have ever seen a cinema so crowded, must be shoo in for the Oscars I think.

I am back from work now, and inhaling menthol and peppermint oil with a vengeance! My sinuses are so bad that if I bend forward I think my head's going to fall off!

Milflaw glad to see you back, I must tell you that when I see your name now, I think of you as a young bohemian, wandering through Russia, with a hip flask in your pocket, and a profound novel in your hand. I know you meant it as a cautionary tale, but it presents a wildly romantic picture to me [am I weird icon]!!!

LADYBOAK · 24/01/2011 14:17

Hi !

I have an alcohol problem and would like to know if any of you have read Allen carr : easy way to contro alcohol ?

Thank you ever so much !

jesuswhatnext · 24/01/2011 14:30

hello ladyboak - a few of the babes have read the book and found it useful!, have you just bought it and giving it a go?

thurso - really enjoyed the film, i found myself willing the poor man to speak! Sad, i have been wondering though, i cant remember the last time i heard anyone speak with a stammer, is that because it is picked up earlier and threapy given right away?

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 24/01/2011 14:31

Hello Lady welcome Smile

I haven't read Allen Carr, but I think lots of people have, on this thread, so over to them.

What made you join the bus today?

hi lady!! lovely to have you aboard!

i think that admitting the problem and having the desire to do something about is a bloody good start! just take it a day at a time!, find a few strategies that suit you and your family life for when the bottle calls, ie, get some nice juices and cordials in the fridge all ready to drink, perhaps get a few posh smellies for bathtime and really treat yourself (you are worth it! Grin) and come and chat on here if you need a bit of support!
