Hello and a Happy New Year!

I'm Mouse, one of the passengers on this wonderful journey to sobriety! Smile

We are a real mixed bunch of people, all trying to control or give up the booze - ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Come meet the others.........

And here are the previous threads, the journeys so far

Isindie
very quickly as I'm off in a minute.

You have done exactly the right thing in taking a break, it sounds like you have been working so hard, and maybe done too much.
I can't count the number of times Dh has come down with a horrible lurge just as he stops work to go on holiday. I know you have a physical hurt (are you going to the Dr's?), but I think your body lets you know when you are in overload, mentally as well.
Also, for me, anyway, tiredness definitely makes me crave the wine more.
Second, Venus, the cravings get less and less, even after a blip.
Have good days everyone Smile

isinde I'm glad you're taking a day off work and putting yourself first. It's a good thing to do, and to do deliberately and with enjoyment.

I'm a bit of a 'people pleaser' doing lots to keep other people happy and safe, and after so many years of behaving like that, I'm rather good at it! I think that for me, getting drunk was the one really selfish thing I used to do - no way I could pretend that it was for the benefit of someone else, I just did it because I wanted to. Now I'm tryong to find other more healthy ways of doing something for myself. At the moment I am looking out at the clear blue sky, the frost on the ground and the sun on the sea, and just enjoying it. Not feeling guilty about not working, not feeling guilty about doing this while dp had to cycle off to work in the cold, just being content. And on Sunday I am going off to an exhibition - doing something that i want to do (again!) not sublimating my wishes to others, for one day my dp, my dd, my parents will be just fine if I don't put them first.

Have a wonderful break from work isindie and rest properly.

jesuswhatnext · 21/01/2011 09:38

morning!! Grin, i feel back up full throttle this morning!

isindi - taking a few days off is a good idea!, take some quiet time, think a bit, try and re-trench - it can only do you good!

venus, whats the exhibition?, dh often drags me round places to look at stuff, i do TRY to appreciate the art but tbh, unless a picture is 'of' something i dont really get it! Blush

oh well, must get myself to work, got a busy day then im off out for a meal with the aa ladies, looking forward to it! Grin

see you later babes!

ps, im such a child, im wearing my new boots today! Grin

Mouseface · 21/01/2011 10:44

Morning all.

Well, TFI Friday. I am giving the diet the elbow for today.

Rubbish night with the little chap.

He's found his voice.

So, at 5am, I got "K, k, k, yeah, yeah, k, k, k, Eeeeeeee, K, k, k, k, k"

He sounds like Manuel from Faulty Towers! Mind you, he was conceived in Spain so that could be why? Grin

Anyway, this went on for over two hours and I just couldn't tell him to be quiet. He's uber cute, I know I'm biased but he's just fab.

JWN - I hate people like that. There are a few folk rattling me on here (not this thread) currently. Glad you are feeling better today.

Isinde - is DP there with you today? Can you do something together with the girls?

Mainlining coffee and fatty foods Blush

PLeased to see your taking a break IsIndie and you sound alot more positive today

I have had more to drink this week than last week but have managed to stick, and be happy to sick to 2 glasses max.

Feeling a bit fed up/bored at the mo! Should be on a date with fairycake guy tomorrow but he's not replied to my text so not sure if he has got cold feet. Although bizarly (bad spelling I know) the guy who cancelled on me because he didn't think I liked him enough keeps bombarding me with texts asking for another chance! - no way.

desiretochange · 21/01/2011 11:21

My life is so so boring compared to yours Zany:), where do you get your energy from??

Mouseface · 21/01/2011 11:22

Zany

Can you contact the Fairycake guy through the dating site and ask him that way?

And YES!!! Ignore bombarding man at all costs. Eeeeew.

Just received a message from him to say that his Mum had quite a bad fell yesterday and has hurt her head and can' move her legs! He said he will need to take a rain check and hopes to meet me soon. God knows if it is genuine as I have had an ex use him Mum falling as an exuse for things before - shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush though.

jesuswhatnext · 21/01/2011 12:32

Anonymousbird · 21/01/2011 13:30

Hello everyone.

Ma - how's things? You sounded quite fraught the other day (but sound much much better today, hopefully?)

Zany - fairycake guy, we know who you mean, but what would he think if he were being bandied around the interblurb with that nickname!?!?!?!?!?!? Ha ha ha ha.

If he is fairycake guy, I suspect that he is genuine, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt (for now Wink).

Right, must dash, things to do and children to find/ferry about/entertain from 3pm until 8am Monday. Crikey, it must be the weekend.

Bye Babes, xxx

Zanywany · 21/01/2011 13:35

X Posted with you Mouse so just seen that Nemo has found his voice - Ahhhh.

Ma fairycake guy is someone I have been chatting to on a dating site Blush who I was supposed to meet tomorrow. Still undecided as to whether its an excuse or not.

Right lunch! I'm hungry

RedMoomin · 21/01/2011 13:38

mouse I am good! Just snowed under at work and with no evening or weekend internet access I am just not getting the time to post much. Hopefully it will be better next week Smile

Rubyredlips · 21/01/2011 13:48

Hi all

Just popping in to say hi. I'm around, just don't get much chance to post with two dc's climbing all over me Grin. I'm shattered today, dc's keep waking in the night and I've been craving sugar but cos I'm on a diet, the only thing I could think of was honey on ryvita Grin was quite nice really.

Mouse Smile at Nemo finding his voice

desiretochange · 21/01/2011 14:21

Been years since I tasted honey, but not too sure about honey on Ryvita Hmm

Rubyredlips · 21/01/2011 14:24

Have I killed the thread again or is it just having a sleep? Wink

I cannot believe that my 2 dc's are asleep at the same time - yippee! This never happens...

....So...I should be cleaning the house/doing the ironing/washing etc etc but instead I am lying down looking at mumsnet.

I love it!!!

Day 19 for me today I think (brain not working cos of lack of sleep)

Rubyredlips · 21/01/2011 14:25

Desire helloooo
How are you?

Honey is beautiful. I'm speechless that you haven't eaten it for years Wink

notevenamousie · 21/01/2011 14:28

Hello ladies,
I had another wobble the last couple of days. Taken today as holiday, went to AA, cried loads, trying to get properly into it before I lose everything. I am wondering about asking my GP to sign me off for a couple of weeks so I can go to loads of meetings and try and get my head to a better place, I don't know though, they say you have to be willing to go to any lengths - jeopardising work might be one of those lengths, because if I keep drinking I will end up without work, or anything else.
Hope everyone else is ok. x

Rubyredlips · 21/01/2011 14:38

Noteven sorry to hear that you're still having a tough time. Any idea what triggered you to pick upp that first drink?

Haven't you been able to attend as many AA meetings as you'd have liked? Would taking time off work be of benefit to you seriously or could it be worse because you would be at home?
Does your employer have an alcohol support policy? Really depends on the size of the employer.

I'm here if you need to 'talk'

Zanywany · 21/01/2011 14:45

Sorry to hear your having a rough time Noteven Like Ruby says if you weren't at work would you be tempted to pick up that first drink being at home more even if you do manage to get to more AA meetings? It may not feel like it now but I do think you have come across as a strong person who has had alot of life changing things happen in a short space of time so try not to let this wobble get you down too much

Rubyredlips · 21/01/2011 14:57

Noteven I've just got to go out now to the supermarket but will check back later in an hour or so to see how you are. You do see very strong on your posts as Zany says so remember that.

Hi Zany why is he called 'fairy cake' man?

Confused
