Welcome to the Bus! Smile

I'm Mouse and you'll find me snuggled sat at the back where it's warmest!

If you're sober, drinking, or somewhere between the two, you are more than welcome on board.

No judging, no cliquey groups and no closed minds here, oh no! Chances are, no matter how bad you may be feeling right now, one of the Brave Babes will have been there too!

So, come say hi.

Would love to put a sold sign on my work colleague's desk, would be worth it just to see the look on her face Wink
Am sure you are nervous about tonight Red, did you arrange meeting or ex?

Fortheverylasttime · 11/11/2010 14:22

Thurso, I think you may be catastrophising over the affect on your children. I am quite sure that not drinking to excess in front of them is all you need to do now. They can be happy to introduce their all important uni friends to their family without worry now.

The serenity prayer, which I used to say at Primary School, is very useful for thoughts like that.

(I am just back from dentist. I love him.)

desiretochange · 11/11/2010 14:23

Forthe you may give Mouse the name of your dentist, hers doesn't seem to be worth much Hmm

Fortheverylasttime · 11/11/2010 15:01

Grant me the courage to change the things I can change,
The serenity to accept the things I can't change,
And the WISDOM to tell the difference.

Shit I have go hens in my kitchen.

dementedma · 11/11/2010 15:06

Forth did you say "hens in my kitchen?"

is that worse than ants in your pants, or bats in your belfry Grin

Fortheverylasttime · 11/11/2010 15:15

Hens now out of kitchen. I had a feeling someone was in the house. Serenity just took a momentary hike. The wind blew their homemade fency gate down.

Ants in pants is far far worse.

Have small puppy to defend. Dp said that they might peck her eyes which has given me nightmares already.

Hello out there to Headless.

thursoback · 11/11/2010 15:20

Hello,
Gales have just stopped here, a liitle bit, so just been to the shops and bought 3 for 1, fizzy flavoured water. Funny how I begrudge the price of fizzy softies.......

Forthe
Thank you for your post. I always had, and have the DC's friends round, and when they had sleepovers I didn't drink (much!). It's just later on at night when I suppose I just think I can, that I'm really bad. I guess everyone has their own bits that they're very shamed about, and anything that had to do with the children was mine.
I have tried (like everyone on here) to be the best mum ever, and never felt that I achieved it. Although I read somewhere once that you can only be the best mum that you can be, and that is good enough.

Venus Are you feeling a bit wobbly or down at the moment, is that why you feel like going to AA?, I know nothing about it, so I hope I haven't offended, or is is a nice group for you to go back to? Can I tell you that your posts have resonated with me so strongly, and the things that you write and the way that you write them have such a help to me, I can't tell you how much. You have been a real beacon of hope for me, as has everyone else.

Red Did you say you were going back for clothes? Do you need many at the moment Grin. Seriously I wish you the best of luck tonight, and maybe if you don't drink before you go, you will feel stronger.

Mouseface · 11/11/2010 15:24

I'm back from physio and hydro, it was lots of fun Hmm

Anyway, Zany - thank you xx

Back later.

PS - Red - You know where I am if you need a chat later. Keep calm and be strong. Upper hand ok? xxxx

desiretochange · 11/11/2010 15:32

Are you there Red?

jesuswhatnext · 11/11/2010 15:39

hi all!! - been a bit of a frantic day here, just work busy iyswim?

thurso - i cant speak for venus but i love AA - i like the warm safe feeling as i walk into the room, i like that no one judges me, i like that everyone is so different but the same, i like the grounding it gives me, and most all i like the peace i feel during the meeting - i find it quite spiritual in a funny sort of way - its just a room full of people willing each other on! - i have met one young woman there who i believe will now be a life long friend Smile other people find very different experiences in the rooms, for me, it works!! Grini havent had a chance to go this week so i will hopefully find a slot tomorrow, it sets me up for the weekend!

red - hope this evening goes ok - its a very draining experience - the end of so many hopes/dreams etc, you have to try and look on it as a new beginning though and start moving forwards! btw, how are things with you and your parents?

forthe - im Envy, i would love to have hens!, dh says it would be a 5 minute wonder though and wont let me! (tbh, he is proberbly right!, i know who would be feeding them in the cold/rain/wind etc and it wouldnt be me! Grin)

Fortheverylasttime · 11/11/2010 15:42

JWN, if you get hens, get a proper run, not just what your dp made. I believe that is the trick.

RedMoomin · 11/11/2010 15:53

I am back! Could not use my computer for ages - boring IT stuff.

Thurso you made me laugh!

mouse thank you lovely x

JWN not much contact with parents at the moment... Something else to be sorted.

To all: meeting with ex called off until tomorrow now. Panic over!

jesuswhatnext · 11/11/2010 15:56

ok ladies!!, have just been invited to dinner in teh house of lords next week!, what the buggery to wear? dress code lounge suits!!

RedMoomin · 11/11/2010 15:59

JWN - get you!! (And I have no idea. Not good at that kind of thing!)

jesuswhatnext · 11/11/2010 16:07

Grin - i have been to the commons before that was 'common'! Grin, im assuming that the lords will be a bit posher! Hmm (wonders if widdy has a dress i could borrow! Grin)

RedMoomin · 11/11/2010 16:09

Grin JWN

thursoback · 11/11/2010 16:13

jwn how brilliant, who else is going? lots of ladies or mainly men?
Either way, cocktail frock and heels, maybe?.

I don't think many places ask for long, I went somewhere last year where I thought everyone would be in long, but most weren't.

Black, above the knee and high heels always works.

Fortheverylasttime · 11/11/2010 16:19

Heel, no long frocks.

desiretochange · 11/11/2010 16:21

May not be the most stylish woman on the planet but agree with Thurso and Forthe, no long dress!

jesuswhatnext · 11/11/2010 16:30

forthe - its business so i cant wear my usual 'cocktail' type of dress, might be a bit short! Wink - i have a herve leger (sp?) in black i could wear or should i wear a 'sober suit'? Hmm i have an ancient chanel jacket i could wear - decisions decisions - i just need to look the part iyswim? (dress my age really! Blush)

jesuswhatnext · 11/11/2010 16:31

dont worry girls, i do know that 'lounge suits' doesnt = long dress! Grin

desiretochange · 11/11/2010 16:31

Zany what's POF Confused

thursoback · 11/11/2010 16:38

I don't know what your size is JWN, but they have some fab cocktail dresses on Net a Porter at the mo.

Do you think you have to wear a suit, I think as you will be sober a fab dress would fit the billGrin

jesuswhatnext · 11/11/2010 16:38

desire - i wondered that too! Grin, didnt like to ask!

jesuswhatnext · 11/11/2010 16:41

ah thurso! , my size!! too big is the answer to that! Blush Grin i have enourmous gazanongas!!! and short legs, thats why i like to wear heels! Grin
