Welcome to the Bus! Smile

I'm Mouse and you'll find me snuggled sat at the back where it's warmest!

If you're sober, drinking, or somewhere between the two, you are more than welcome on board.

No judging, no cliquey groups and no closed minds here, oh no! Chances are, no matter how bad you may be feeling right now, one of the Brave Babes will have been there too!

So, come say hi.

Mouseface · 09/11/2010 14:54

desire - I was wondering where you were. How are you?

OP posts:
desiretochange · 09/11/2010 15:01

More to the point, how are you Mouse?? Am ok here, been reading all the posts, and thinking about stuff (and working at same time:))

Mouseface · 09/11/2010 15:11

I'm ok. Really, just a moany arse today! Erm, and yesterday, erm......... and the day before!

I actually feel 100% better for not taking the ABs anymore. They clearly didn't mix well with my new ADs and I'm afraid to say that I can't simply stop the ADs!

Will wait and see re the tooth.

So, what's on your mind lovely? Smile

Strange part Mouse but a lot of what I learned here this morning is that we have to be selfish, and it dawned on me that like others here I am a people pleaser and put myself last in the whole scheme of things, even at work I allow people to walk on me while silently fuming!
And you know what I did, I rang hairdressers when I came back to work, and am getting my hair cut and coloured on Saturday where I am going to get hairdresser to cut my hair short and dye it some kind of wild reddy colour, because my days of blending into the background and being walked on are coming to an end!
Rant over:)

Mouseface · 09/11/2010 15:25

OOOoooooo DESIRE IS ON FIRE!! You go for it!!! I love short hair and Red is called so because of her short cropped red hair!! Just in case you didn't know.

desire - Do you know that making a change like that is a real 'take charge' decision in your life? I know it's a hair do when all said and done but it's a hair do that is striking and bold!!

Take control. Take charge and have that time out for YOU at the hairdressers.

Be selfish. xx

Hi desire. People-pleasing seems to be a very common theme. And for me personally it leaves me burning with resentment - "No, please feel free to wipe your shoes on me." And although I am not going to AA presently I am pretty sure that I was told that resentments are a top cause of picking up the booze again.

RedMoomin · 09/11/2010 15:28

My hair needs to be re-reddened (love making words up!) Although it's not cropped more of a bob-type affair! Go for it desire!

biancacb · 09/11/2010 15:39

afternoon all.
just been reading.
not much to add
H away this week so am looking forward to a nice quiet week - we had another small episode on saturday night after we'd been to an afternoon lunch and evening party. I was fine, he was not. the usual.
Parents can clearly see there are huge problems. been stopping myself crying a lot if I'm honest. I'm not sure I'm ready for them to see how bad things really are...

Mouseface · 09/11/2010 15:47

biancab

You know where I am. Smile

And to add, you are doing really well. Simply by not giving in and coming back here to post tells me that.

Stronger. Day by day.

Loving the sound of "take charge decision" Mouse:)
I can well believe Red that resentment is a major factor in drinking!

dementedma · 09/11/2010 16:07

just checking in to say hi - a bit low today, money worries, teen worries etc.
Working late tonight though so gonna be a sober one.......would you beleive I am organising a wine tasting event? Hmm

Mouseface · 09/11/2010 16:11

Ma - yes, I would!!

When I first got on the bus, I won a case of wine on MN!!!!! Grin

Hopefully, that will have put a small smile on your face.

Sorry you have money and teen worries, hopefully the two aren't linked.

Anything in particular bothering you?
Biancab, hello to you as well!

RedMoomin · 09/11/2010 16:30

Hello all,

Almost my home time - thank God for that because I am knackered! November and December are always hideously busy where I work so it's probably a good time to let you know that I won't get to post as much as I would like. I am not sulking! I will just be very busy - but of course will post as much as possible!!

Mouseface · 09/11/2010 16:56

See you tomorrow Red

Send my love to FB Grin

Ha ha mouse! Bye for now x

BBwannaB · 09/11/2010 18:12

Hey babes just checking in. 21 days sober today, celebrating with a large glass of...
elderflower fizz!

Just worked out that's more than 16 litres of red wine not drunk Blush

venusandmars · 09/11/2010 19:23

Ha BBwannaB I often think that there are now wine suppliers up and down the country scratching their heads and wondering why sales have been down recently....

ZanyWany · 09/11/2010 19:28

Off for a bit now but just wanted to thank everyone who has shared their experiences/stories, they are the best help ever, just hope I manage to get to Day 1 soon

BBwannaB · 09/11/2010 19:54

actually that's only based on one bottle a night...

notevenasparkler · 09/11/2010 20:09

Hello everyone. Have had a really really long day at work (my poor DD) and have just goit DD to bed. It is really rare that I get to 8pm without a drink. And on day 2. I am starving and thirsty. I just really want to get through this evening until bedtime then that will be another battle won.

Hope everyone else is surviving ok and to those who sound so happy, it is so good to hear that there is hope.

Mouseface · 09/11/2010 20:12

BB - do you know how many units per week you drank?

When I first got on the bus, someone, I think Red maybe, worked it out for me at around 70. When I actually worked it out, looking at the labels on the empties in the recycling boxes, yes, boxes, it was nearer to 90.

90 units per week. And that was without 'occasions, bad days or celebrations'.

I have posted this before but the bin men here really do think that I have moved out! Grin

The only thing in our recycling these days that contains alcohol are empty mouthwash bottles!! Or stuff that DH has consumed!

I used to get so embarrassed putting the boxes out and when my parents came, I'd throw something over them so they couldn't see how full they were.

Im 35. Blush

Fortheverylasttime · 09/11/2010 20:17

Noteven, what are you doing until bedtime? Something relaxing?

BBwannaB · 09/11/2010 20:44

Mouse I don't know how many units, 12.5% alcohol red wine, at least 5 bottles a week, if someone can work that out I would be interested. Would also like to know how many calories that is. I think I am looking better, my face is less puffy and my skin clearer, I think some of my gut is disappering too.
I admire you young women getting a grip - I just don't want to face my 50th in the state I was in.
My mum counts the glasses going down, so I have a bottle in the kitchen...
