The Brave Babes Carry On The Charabanc Trip - Leaving The Booze Behind!

1000 replies

Mouseface · 14/09/2010 11:33

Hello and welcome! Smile

This is thread number eight!

The Brave Babes are all at different stages of quitting the booze. Some have stopped, some are thinking about it and some are just cutting down.

They are full of support and wisdom for those of you wishing to climb aboard the Bus or Charabanc!! Grin

The Babes aren't an exclusive club, they never judge and they don't charge for advice either!

So, come meet them. I'm Mouse, by the way, and I've been sober since August 2nd 2010, something I would never have even considered without the support of these threads.

Here are the first seven threads, if you want a bit of history.

My god - how well did that go - so far - done shopping- done pizza express - they are all now in pj's and beds with popcorn watching Kung Fu panda - is this this ominous quiet before the storm.....?

Hi Pav - going back to read your post in a minute - just need a fag first ........

Silver66 · 25/09/2010 19:19

Pav I think you've just answered all your own concerns and questions in that post - but maybe you should stay aboard for a while and make the most of the support on here - BTW I'm Silver and I sit right behind the driver so that I can correst him/her on any mistakes they might make in their driving skills - I always visualised this as a double decker bus for some reason.............

pavalova · 25/09/2010 19:30

Thanks Mouse and hi. Yes I think I could build up a tolerance to the hangovers again and end up back on the merry-go-round but I really don't feel that I want to. I have been enjoying the proper sleep, the lighter shopping bill, the feeling of control and reading with fresh eyes. In fact I am loving the reading.

I have mild delusions of being a casual drinker but I don't think that is the hand I have been played. I have always overindulged in one substance or another. I gladly take my bus ticket and sit sheepishly in the quietest spot.

The idea of sleepovers with numerous excitable children actually makes my nausea worse! Good luck with that Silver. ( I really hope boys are not inclined to do this)

The very best wishes to you Luci for tonight. If you conquer this one you will you will feel 10 feet tall.

Hello to everyone else, I can't do a name thing because I am sure to leave some out. Wishing you all a peaceful evening. x

pavalova · 25/09/2010 19:34

Thanks Silver and hi.

Glad you are up there, breathing down the drivers neck - could you make sure he takes it easy tonight Grin

Silver66 · 25/09/2010 19:56

Hi Pav

Actually I think I'll take over the driving -

It's a thing with me about bad driving - IT DRIVES (haha) ME MENTAL.

So we are going to take it nice and smoothly along this very quiet beautiful B road. Lined with fields and trees - no other traffic - just a very peaceful and smooth road that can take us anywhere we want to be. No pressure, no arrival time,if you want to get off just ring the bell, if not sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey.

xx

JWN - At 9.00pm I am shutting my bedroom door and leaving them to it - as I explained to them earlier - I am only really here in case there's a fire - you lot are on your own after my door is shut and quite frankly I don't give a f**k what you get up to as long as you don't spill coke on my carpet (with which I have a lightly obsessive relationship re: stains and removing stains - another story again).

So sleep well babes and I await the scene of smelly sleepy sweet sticky snoring little ladies in the morning - worst thing is one dad has to collect at 9.00am - I won't be awake and they certainly won't be - he'll have to knock hard on the door.

night night babes - whether drinking, not drinking or in between. We are all STILL ON THE SAME BUS (and I'm driving now so you can all relax - no accidents on the horizon)

Lets all try to stay strong and do what is right for us - individually.

nite xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Right - next dvd is Avatar which I am told lasts for about 13 hours or so - up to bedroom bunker - with lap-top - if anyone feels like talking - I shall be here for some time yet....failing that Casualty always does it for me xxxx

venusandmars · 25/09/2010 20:35

Ha Silver, no such thing as a quiet sleep over. I stopped my dd2 going at one stage because it took 2 days to recover from the lack of sleep.

Hi Pav nice to see you back, and thanks for doing that research. I can just imagine how it felt on the night, not sleeping properly, and feeling really irritable today. I notice that you said ot was quite nice yesterday, but not brilliant. thanks for that too - very good to hear.

mouse fongers crossed that your feeding approach works again tonight x

venusandmars · 25/09/2010 20:36

fingers crossed, and fongers crossed Grin

Mouseface · 25/09/2010 20:39

Silver - that bus journey sounds perfect and comforting. You may need to draw on that image during your bunker night! Hope all goes well with sleepover.

Hi Venus, glad you appreciated the research - the things I do for others eh?! I was being honest about it not being brilliant - it was just a fuzzy version of any other night really Hmm with a miserable and tiring consequence.

Hope Nemo has another good night Mouse. Fongers crossed and all that Smile

Right I am out of here - bath and bed, not too soon either. thanks for support and wish you all a good night x

Mouseface · 25/09/2010 21:06

thanks Venus - as i type sitting on my bed I can hear every word/shout/hysteria building - we moved here about a year ago - lovely post war semi deatched ex council house - well built and great in every way - except the kids might as well be in the bedroom with me as far as the acoustics go - DP might be in kitchen loading dishwasher (very good at that I have to say) and I can hear every clink of plates and forks while I'm in bed - love the house - hate the the fact, in noise terms we might as well be living in a big box. But hey - things could be a lot worse. They are now spreading out about the house with noisy toys - I can't even hide under bed - it's too low. THERE IS NOWHERE TO HIDE. (old house was big old victorian terrace with many places to disappear - however as much as I loved the bricks and morter I am v much happer here). hey as long as they are having a good time - sorry for boring the pants off you all - I just seem to start chatting and.............xxxxx

Mouseface · 25/09/2010 21:58
