Hello, welcome to thread number six!! Smile

I'm Mouse and, thanks to these threads, I quit the booze on August 2nd 2010.

This truly is a fantastic source of support for anyone who wants it! Full of real, honest, everyday people who are all at different stages of quitting the booze, cutting down or being long term sober.

There are no judgmental 'know-it-alls' here, whatever your circumstances, you will be supported all the way.

Come and meet the rest of The Brave Babes........

And, as before, here are the previous five threads for those who would like to see how this all began.

JWN's original thread (the reason we are all here)

well, no cooking here, gourmet or otherwise, just been out for a curry!!, NO BOOZE!! Grin

very quiet on here this evening!, no sign of mouse!? - hope everything is ok?, is it tonight you have dinner guests?, also, how is medium mouse faring?, has she gone back to school yet and how did she get on?

well done christi - lets all keep our fingers crossed for you! Smile

btw msgee, my dh is very much the same as yours, i try and vary what we eat and i enjoy cooking, BUT, i could serve a variation on a fry up every night or a pizza and he would be in heaven! Confused

JABnowJAR · 02/09/2010 21:35

What a coincidence...we had fish pie this evening. It's a Jamie Oliver recipe with no wine involved.

Absolutely delicious if I do say so myself Grin!

Wasindie, how is the challenge going? We've just got DD settled to bed and I haven't been tempted at all. I've felt a bit bleurgh all day due to recent wine consumption so Im looking forward to a proper night's sleep and feeling much healthier tomorrow.

venusandmars · 02/09/2010 21:42

Well done JAB. That's the way to do it. One day at a time.

Christi Yayyyhhhh! See, you really are fab!

jesuswhatnext · 02/09/2010 21:45

well done jab!! dont be too surprised though if you feel a bit crappy for the next couple of days - miflaw says it is because the hangover is being seen through to the end!, i found it took about a week to really start to feel the benefits, then it really kicks in and you start to feel fab! Grin

JABnowJAR · 02/09/2010 21:53

Thanks JWN and thanks for starting this thread.

It really has been the impetus I've needed to give myself a good old kick up the bum!

Oh and btw I'm another 'bloody northener'! Grin

jesuswhatnext · 02/09/2010 21:56

what is about you lot north of watford?, none of you can hold your bloody drink! Grin

JABnowJAR · 02/09/2010 21:57

Ha ha, very true...did you see that on the news yesterday? Apparently there's a north/south divide when it comes to drink problems! Wonder why that is?

jesuswhatnext · 02/09/2010 22:10

yes jab, i did see that! Grin

anyway, im off to bed now - got a long day ahead tomorrow, loads to do at work, spray tan in the afternoon, cooking in the evening as dd will home, looking forward to seeing her!

btw, i havent been to aa now for a week, after the punch-up last week i was a bit apprehensive, now, to top it all, one of the blokes has got hold of my number and keeps declaring his undying passion! Shock - i know he is just lonely and not long out of prison, but it is making me feel a bit awkward, i have not answered his texts and i dont know who he got my number from and im not sure how to deal with it!, do i be kind and gentle or blunt and to the point? perhaps miflaw has seen this kind of situation before? and will have some sound advice? please?

hope everyone is having a lovley sober evening!

see you all tomorrow!!

jesuswhatnext · 02/09/2010 22:13

i know how i would usually handle unwanted male attention but i think this guy is quite fragile, mentally and emotionally and i want to handle it as kindly as possible.

morning prime!!, good on ya!! Grin, i have yet to have a birthday sober, its in december though so im trying not to project!, i have to say though, my dm mentioned xmas the other day, tbh, the thought of being cooped up for 2 days with my parents without the aid of alcohol fills me with an un-natural dread! Grin

wanders off muttering!!! Grin

(dont worry, am not mad, its my latest 'coping strategy' when thinking of my mother! Grin)

jesuswhatnext · 03/09/2010 08:44

btw, i have been re-reading my first thread and i have realised my vocabulary is very limited, i seem to say 'lovley' and 'really' an annoying amount of times and i can usually only use short words because of my bloody useless spelling! Blush, so today

I WILL NOT BE DRINKING!!

and i am going to try and use some new words!! (and spell them correctly! Grin)

Good morning lovely Babes,

Well done to all the fish-pie cookers out there. Me and DH had pizza and chips from the takeaway last night - I am still very much in the comfort food stage of recovery at the moment! The food was gorgeous though and just what the doctor ordered. (Well maybe....)

Well done christi - fab news!

Re cooking with alcohol - I think it's personal choice. If it makes you uncomfortable just don't do it!

JWN - I really have no advice for you on that one. I have heard about that kind of thing so I am sure that MIFLAW will have some advice...

RedMoomin · 03/09/2010 09:17

Well done JAB and wasindie by the way!

Happy Birthday Prime - and well done for staying sober!

Fortheverylasttime · 03/09/2010 09:19

I would suggest telling a woman.

MsGee · 03/09/2010 09:26

Morning everyone!

JWN no advice, not much experience of unwanted admirers! Agree with wasindie kind but clear.

Well done everyone on the sober evenings! Day 15 for me, so not drank for two weeks! I feel so much clearer mentally and emotionally (not sure that makes sense).

Quick post as LittleMs and I are off to music class. She earnt a star for no tantrums at bed time and sleeping through!

Morning all,

Well day 2 for me. I rose to Wasindie's challenge!! Put DD to bed at 9.30 and I followed shortly after. Wasn't at all tempted by a drink. Well done for doing the same Wasindie. Hope you got some good sleep?

It was lovely to wake up this morning (DD slept for 9.5 hrs - yay!!) knowing that I didn't drink last night and without the paranoid thoughts that I usually get. E.g. can I remember everything? how much wine did I get through? is there any left in the bottle?

I also feel physically better and more able to deal with the day.

JWN - hope you manage to deal with your admirer successfully. I'm sure that a firm yet gentle approach will work best.

Happy Birthday Prime.

And well done Little MsGee - I love the idea of the rewards chart.

Moomin - how are you feeling today?

Well done Christi - sounds great.

jesuswhatnext · 03/09/2010 09:40

msgee, 2 weeks is brill!!! well done littlegee on the star! Smile

jesuswhatnext · 03/09/2010 09:42

jab!! another well done for you!!! Grin just remember that

TODAY WILL WE NOT BE DRINKING!!

day at a time, easy does it! before you know it you will get your star sticker for your first week!! Grin

JABnowJAR · 03/09/2010 09:43

Morning JWN

JABnowJAR · 03/09/2010 09:45

JWN - how many weeks are you on now?
