Hello, welcome to thread number six!! Smile

I'm Mouse and, thanks to these threads, I quit the booze on August 2nd 2010.

This truly is a fantastic source of support for anyone who wants it! Full of real, honest, everyday people who are all at different stages of quitting the booze, cutting down or being long term sober.

There are no judgmental 'know-it-alls' here, whatever your circumstances, you will be supported all the way.

Come and meet the rest of The Brave Babes........

And, as before, here are the previous five threads for those who would like to see how this all began.

JWN's original thread (the reason we are all here)

glad you have a lovley evening venus - i am so cold here, it really feels autumnal, such a shame, august here has been a wash-out!

anyway, i do hope its quiet for the same reasons as venus mentions - i have been missing everyone! Sad

looking forward to getting back to normal tomorrow!! Grin

jesuswhatnext · 30/08/2010 20:39

msgee - venus is in scotland, so no bank holiday for her!

jesuswhatnext · 30/08/2010 20:40

btw, how is poo-watch coming on!

MsGee · 30/08/2010 20:46

Thanks, JWN - that explains it! Was worried then!

Poo-watch is fine thank you! DD pooed Sat night, 2am. We named and flushed with the three of us standing ceremoniously round the loo (this is not how I used to spend my weekends away!!). She is however, holding another one in today, so back to square one. DD is v v strong willed. Not sure where she gets it from Grin

feedtheyakandhewillscore · 30/08/2010 21:00

Hi everyone.

Trying to keep up with names but sounds like you have all been strong this weekend.

Mcgee- probably speaking out of turn but a star chart and trip to the toy shop worked for my ds when he struggled? Also few nights of going in the bath- yes I'm an expert fisher too!

Well I'm on day 1 I'm afraid- had 2 glasses of wine last night. Think it was due to boredom and because it was there. Anyway dh goes away to work tomorow so I need to make sure I don't get bored.

jesuswhatnext · 30/08/2010 21:06

i do find this thread amusing at times!, the conversation is quite diverse! Grin, we talk about birth/bf - death, weddings, partys, children and how we are experts at fishing poo out of the bath!! Grin

yak - tomorrow try and line up a couple of activities for tteh evening that you dont usually do - i found baking and sewing really good diversions - i now find that i havent got enough time in the day to do all the things im interested in - my house is also beautifully shiney and tidy now too! Shock, in fact, i now read books, do home made pickles and chutneys, bake cakes, practice making stuff with my sewing machine, anything to keep my mind busy, i feel worn out by the end of each day, but in a good way iyswim?

jesuswhatnext · 30/08/2010 21:14

goodnight wasindi - well done!!! Grin

(me and venus really kick-arse you know! Grin)

venusandmars · 30/08/2010 21:27

hi Jesus and wasindie and any others who are around. We had a beautiful clear sky and sunset here tonight, I will see if I can put the photos on my profile (need to find the cable to link my camera to the pc). And I will need to worki out how to create a profile, where is mouse when you need her?

MsGee · 30/08/2010 21:32

Yak - I have thought about reward charts and just ordered one online. Fingers crossed. Getting through the boredom is tough, i now sit with my lap top each night and stay on here so I don't drink! I am nowhere near as productive as JWN but I am reading a lot more.

JWN - Homemade pickles?? My image of you develops each day, Diana Dors stepford wife crossed with WI pickle maker!! Grin

Wasindie - well done, hurrah for you!! Plus thank you for lovely words. I shall be checking on DD soon, so thank you for the elves (sleep elves back atcha!). I am sure that there is a market for cards for the occasion (hope you poo soon / well done for pooing / hurrah for fishing that poo out of the bath). When you think about it, there are so many options it is incredible that there aren't whole shops for such cards!! I am not sure when the sleep craving ends either ...

Right, to bed... night babes x

A POEM FOR LITTLEMSGEE

Shall I tell you something funny,
Got that feeling in my tummy.
Going to sit upon the loo,
See if I can do a poo

If it's huge I'll cheer and shout,
Very glad that it is out,
Wave goodbye and watch it go,
Round the bend and down below.

venusandmars · 30/08/2010 22:41

OK, I think I have put some photos of tonights sunset on my profile.

jesuswhatnext · 31/08/2010 08:43

morning all!!! Smile

venus, they are lovley photos!! i can see that i really must work out how to do a profile thing, i like looking at everyone elses, so it does seem only fair! Grin

btw, the poo-watch poem is great, msgee and family can sing it while they wait! Grin

well, i have a busy few days ahead, i am going to london this afternoon, evening meeting, then staying in a hotel, breakfast meeting and then some shopping - i have been trying not to over think it, or project, so i feel quite calm about the whole trip - i re-read my first few posts last night, remembering that desperate feeling and then the feeling i had when i did my first sober business event has helped a great deal!

i have taken a good long look at myself in the mirror this morning Shock, i can honestly say i look 5 years younger then when i stopped drinking - my eyes look amazing, so white and sparkly, i have now lost over a stone in boozy blubber, my skin really does have a glow, no spots, no red face, my hair even feels thicker!

anyone who is wavering!!, please believe me when i say that it is the best thing i have ever done, my quality of life just keeps getting better.

Morning everyone ,just flying past and haven't caught up with posts .
Trying visit with relatives yesterday ,but reminded myself that the belief that alcohol would get me through it /reward me afterwards was all a crock of shit ! ( thanks JWN ).
Still think that the hardest times are when you're feeling worthless ,what does it matter then what you do ?
Not drinking today .

jesuswhatnext · 31/08/2010 09:36

ginge, my love, you are NOT worthless!!, that feeling of worthlessness will begin to fade if you can just stop drinking!, the booze will not make you feel better. so today,

WE WILL NOT BE DRINKING!!

BECAUSE WE'RE WORTH IT!! Grin, (if its good enough for ceryl, its good enough for us! Grin)

jesuswhatnext · 31/08/2010 09:37

i cant spell ceryl can i? Blush

Good morning all!

Great to catch up with everything that's been going on with you all. Welcome to feed! Any any others that I may have missed.

I have had a very bad weekend. I drank on Sunday and yesterday. I even went to my AA meeting drunk Blush Everyone was lovely about it - of course! We are all just drunks at the end of the day. I am getting strength from reading all of your posts. Hope people are around to chat this morning x

Morning prime! Nice to read how well things are going for you!

MsGee · 31/08/2010 10:18

Morning!

Venus, the poem is fantastic. I shall print it out and stick it above the reward chart!! I was just singing it to myself and nursery called to tell me that she had done a big poo, so its working already Smile

Ginger - glad you survived the relatives too. Being drunk does not help anything, even relatives. Listen to JWN, you are not worthless.

Wasindie - glad you are on day 5. Have you managed to talk to DP? How are lovely twins?

Red - hope you are ok today, what happened? I am around all day ... working hard Wink

All ok here, DD is at nursery so its a work day. House being valued, so fingers crossed our buyer's mortgage is sorted this week. Just had coffee with a friend who had a bad in law weekend, then rang my mum and dad and ranted to them about horrible in laws. Poor DH. Had a horrible moment when I thought - why does he put up with someone who hurts him so much... and then I realised that he did that with me for years. Sad

Day 12. I never ever thought I would get this far.

venusandmars · 31/08/2010 10:18

Aw Moomin, what happened on Sunday then? Was there something specific going on that made you want to drink? So what are your plans for today - day 1 again? Are you going to ameeting tonight, sober?
