10 weeks ago i started a thread asking for help - i was in a very desperate place, totally dependent on alchohol, unhappy, lonely and floundering around trying to make sense of it all. i was in danger of losing everything i hold dear.

in those few short weeks, i have got my life back and picked up a few computer friends along the way - we help each other, support each other, and laugh and cry together - if you would like to join us, please feel free - no judging, preaching, sermonising or moralising - we are simply ordinary people with a bloody awful illness!

I used to be a fund manager, in London. But hard to get back into that after time away and I don't really want to. This was a way of using my skills in the industry without actually having to do day to day stressy fund management, on the marketing side. They don't even want me for that. So I feel stuck.

maddogsandenglishmen · 09/08/2010 18:35

Sorry to hear about the job Christi. Job hunting is one of the most draining, self-esteem destroying things you can do in my opinion. I hate it. But honestly, I know you said it is your dream job, but if the company is messing you around this much, maybe you really don't want to work for them.

jesuswhatnext · 09/08/2010 18:37

christi - you can and will cope, what is the alternative? stand tall my girl!!!

I'm trying but failing. I have this on top of my PND. Nothing is ever simple for me.

DH is walking around looking more depressed than I am so I feel like I have to gee myself up to make HIM feel better about ME probably not getting the job.

And to not even know for sure? Why won't they just say no?

venusandmars · 09/08/2010 18:44

Foods with vitamin B:

Beef, turkey, salmon, trout
Weetabix, all bran, bran flakes, special K, porridge, whole grain bread
Carrots, butternut squash, red peppers, tomato
Spinach, cabbage, onions, celery, mushrooms

Anything in that list that you like? I like making curry - mince, onion and a jar of curry sauce (lloyd grossman balti sauce is good), then chuck in whatever else you have, carrots, tomatoes, peas, spinach...

Or turkey curry with korma sauce, and cauliflower, and carrots, and potatoes.

And seaweed is horrible to eat. Really disgusting.

jesuswhatnext · 09/08/2010 18:48

no christie, things are never that 'simple', but they will be a whole lot more complicated if you pick up a drink!

TrinityRhino · 09/08/2010 18:49

thankyou

algee · 09/08/2010 18:50

my mum used to buy lava braed in south wales...i LOVED that, until i discovered in fact that it was sea weed!!

ChristianaTheSeventh · 09/08/2010 18:50

Why won't they just say NO then, I feel I could move on better rather than thinking I have a 10% chance of getting the job or whatever

algee · 09/08/2010 18:50

useless information.

algee · 09/08/2010 18:51

...not you christi me!!

TrinityRhino · 09/08/2010 18:51

oh I like sushi without raw fish

they all have seaweed round them dont they?

venusandmars · 09/08/2010 18:53

Ooh yes, I'd forgotten about sushi. It is very, very healthy. Do you have an M&S near you Trinity? They do little trays of sushi. It is quite expensive, but only about the price that a bottle of wine would be, so a nice way to treat yourself.

If you've got a big tesco near you, you can buty the seaweed sheets for making sushi. When my dds were younger they used to like making them. You need cooked white rice, soy sauce, and then we put tuna and cucumber in the middle, or smoked salmon in the middle with little prawns on the top.

ChristianaTheSeventh · 09/08/2010 18:53

jesuswhatnext · 09/08/2010 18:54

ChristianaTheSeventh · 09/08/2010 18:57

Bake butternut squash with fennel seeds, chili, dried thyme, dried oregano and crushed garlic, tossed with olive oil and sea salt is just gorgeous.

jesuswhatnext · 09/08/2010 18:57

my dh buys little trays of sushi for his lunch, looks revolting to me but he seems to like it.

Christi, if you were a fund manager, you must have lots of skills. Good with people, good with numbers, articulate, organised. You will get a job.

Think about yourself and be kind to yourself.

jesuswhatnext · 09/08/2010 19:00

going to go and look in the fridge now and see if the gannets have left me anything Angry
