10 weeks ago i started a thread asking for help - i was in a very desperate place, totally dependent on alchohol, unhappy, lonely and floundering around trying to make sense of it all. i was in danger of losing everything i hold dear.

in those few short weeks, i have got my life back and picked up a few computer friends along the way - we help each other, support each other, and laugh and cry together - if you would like to join us, please feel free - no judging, preaching, sermonising or moralising - we are simply ordinary people with a bloody awful illness!

afternoon all, welcome desire...I'd forgotten that I never had hangovers! Sometimes shakes and feeling a little bit 'off' but no hangover... but then I just felt generally pants all of the time! Thank you all for reminding me of that.

ChristianaTheSeventh · 09/08/2010 16:44

I think I'm going to drink

desiretochange · 09/08/2010 16:49

Distract yourself Christiana

desiretochange · 09/08/2010 16:50

Sorry if that didn't come out right but just got panicked when I read your message:(

Toclearmyhead · 09/08/2010 16:52

Christiana - Can you do some exercise instead (if your knees are up to it)? Get teh frustration out that way. Drink will just be a short term fix.

ChristianaTheSeventh · 09/08/2010 16:57

Already been for a massive swim. Whacked my head against teh pool while I was there! Aaaah. Am cooking.

MIFLAW · 09/08/2010 17:00

Christiana

I want you to picture your own grave.

Then a policy custody suite.

Then a locked ward with a cage over the yard for the smokers.

If you've never seen any of these things, just imagine them as best you can.

These are the very real stakes you are potentially playing for if you are a problem drinker and you drink. Don't kid yourself otherwise.

You may still decide to drink - at the moment, it IS a decision, rather than anything else - but at least make it an informed choice.

If you don't like what you see, then have a Creme Egg instead.

Toclearmyhead · 09/08/2010 17:00

What are you cooking? Think we're having leftover roast chicken risotto with butternut squash (nicer than it sounds!)

MIFLAW · 09/08/2010 17:00

Police custody.

algee · 09/08/2010 17:01

don't you know you don't want to!

TrinityRhino · 09/08/2010 17:16

christiana

come and talk to me please

what are you cooking?

any idea why you might drink

why are you going to choose to pick up?

I wouldn't bother if I was you

I mean hangovers suck

jeminthecellar · 09/08/2010 17:19

Christiana- I remember being where you are...I know people may hate this, but you are choosing excuses to drink.

Fair enough, you need to take responsibility for that.

Hi MIFLAW Smile, havn't checked in on these threads for a while.

venusandmars · 09/08/2010 17:20

Hi Christi,

Yes you're feeling crap, and disappointed, and pissed off, and worried about the family income. But come on, when did any of need as many excuses as that to have a drink? Why did you need all these reasons to have a drink? Or is it just that your alcoholic self wants a drink, irrespective of the reason.

You have managed many, many days without letting the alcoholic drive win over. Just try this one day, today, the next hour, and maybe a few minutes after that.

Bloody hell woman, Edinburgh needs you sober. You know how many pissheads are around for the festival?

Mouseface · 09/08/2010 17:20

Shh, I'm not here. PIL are outside.

Christie

I agree with Wasindie. This is all getting too fishy by far. Sounds like they have moved the goal posts in terms of what they want/need/can afford.

This is nothing to do with you. I promise. Please don't let this 'make' you drink. You are worth far more than that my lovely.

WRT a list...... I have names from this thread and the 3 before, there are 30 now!!!

Hello desireto

I will keep an eye on the thread and do it before the bells goes later!! Grin

Pens and paper at the ready!!!! Names only I think too, not 'Mouse - not drinking' etc

Let me know.

venusandmars · 09/08/2010 17:22

Trinity, good advice. And you know. Feeling any better?

ChristianaTheSeventh · 09/08/2010 17:24

Have made apricot and cinnamon cake
HAve made chicken with spring veg

Not got any wine yet

thank you for your help

Everyone

Just so pissed off. DH redundant. This was my dream job

TrinityRhino · 09/08/2010 17:25

a little bit but for all the healthy food I bought I'm eating a fucking magnum

I look 6 months pregnant Sad

venusandmars · 09/08/2010 17:30

Mouse, yes just names, nothing else, no dates, or numbers, none of the 2 week wait, or babydancing or any of that crap. That's for other threads.

I just wonder of anyone will be put off posting 'cos they think their name might be on a list. Can you do it like a continuous run of contributors, something like this:

Contributors: JWN, Moomin, MIFLAW, Mouse etc

Rather than a list of alkies like this:

Alkies
VENUS,
others
etc

I think a continuous run is less threatening.

We haven't seen katerum or catinboots for a while. If you around, let us know how you're doing.

venusandmars · 09/08/2010 17:35

Trinity a magnum is always better than a drink (assuming it is an ice-cream magnum, and not one of those double bottles of wine!)

The fat tummy is the special way that alcohol makes you put on weight, all around the middle.

jesuswhatnext · 09/08/2010 17:36

trinity, count yourself lucky, i was looking forward to an ice cream when i got home, dd and bf have eaten the fucking lot! gawd i am pissed off with them, they are like a pair of fucking food hoovers, AND they have found my secret stash of penguins! Angry

christie - i am going to sound like my mum for minute, the trouble is, she has always been proved right! Shock there is a reason you didnt get this job, it wasnt right for you and the family right now!, i know that you feel crap right now but i really believe that these things happen for the best in the long run!, just what and see what is around the corner, bet its something better! Smile

30 of us!!! blimey!!!

OP posts:
jesuswhatnext · 09/08/2010 17:38

sorry trinity, that sounded a bit 'teacher-ish', just pissed off they have eaten nearly a weeks shopping and its only fucking monday!!

OP posts:
jesuswhatnext · 09/08/2010 17:40

know what you mean about the fat tummy too Blush Sad

OP posts:
venusandmars · 09/08/2010 17:42

Well done for your control Christi, dinner sounds good.

You are allowed to be pissed off and angry, it is OK to be broken hearted about not getting the job that would solve everything. And you know that getting drunk wouldn't make those feelings any happier.

I've forgotten how old your dc's are. Any way you can take them out for a walk between rain showers and chuck some sticks into a river? Or drive to the sea and throw stones into the water? Build a sandcastle and then jump on in. Anything to take your frustration out on something that is not yourself.

TrinityRhino · 09/08/2010 17:42

how ddo I get rid of the fat tummy then?

and it doesn't sound teacher ish Smile

TrinityRhino · 09/08/2010 17:44

well done christi

keep going minute by minute Smile
