10 weeks ago i started a thread asking for help - i was in a very desperate place, totally dependent on alchohol, unhappy, lonely and floundering around trying to make sense of it all. i was in danger of losing everything i hold dear.

in those few short weeks, i have got my life back and picked up a few computer friends along the way - we help each other, support each other, and laugh and cry together - if you would like to join us, please feel free - no judging, preaching, sermonising or moralising - we are simply ordinary people with a bloody awful illness!

Hello everyone Smile

Red - hope you have a lovely sleep and feel better soon.

Today is day 1 for me - I've got a lamb casserole in the slow cooker and I plan to have a nice bath and start reading a new book tonight. This part of the week will be the easiest as I've always had my 'nights off' then; it'll be Wednesday that will be the hard part as that's generally when the 'weekend' begins.

I spoke to my sister this morning and told her how I was worried about my relationship with booze - she was really supportive and is going to meet me for a booze-free lunch and a chat.

waves to everyone, especially the newcomers like myself! Well done for plucking up the courage to post.

NO PROJECTING!!!!

A second, minute, hour, or day at a time only!!

Bit by bit, step by step. Even if you just stand still at times rather than move forward, just get through that one moment.

You can do this, your evening sounds wonderful.

PIL are here soon so I will be vanishing but will check back later.

I'm happy to post the list of Ballte Bus passengers as long as everyone is ok with it?

Mouseface · 09/08/2010 12:46

'Battle' even!! Duh!

MIFLAW · 09/08/2010 12:51

"Hold onto" as in "don't forget it next time" - not "hold onto" as in "stay feeling shit" - you've already punished yourself enough just by drinking.

Mouseface · 09/08/2010 13:41

MIFLAW Have you scared everyone away? Grin

MIFLAW · 09/08/2010 14:00

Steady!!

And this is sober :o

desiretochange · 09/08/2010 15:35

Anybody mind if I join? Alcohol has certainly been a big part of my life lately, have taken to sharing with a friend 2 bottles of wine nightly and usually one night at weekend it turns into a bottle of wine and a bottle of spirit (either vodka or whiskey). Don['t suffer from hangovers unless I have been out socially which is a rare occasion and I over over over indulge. The lack of hangovers makes it harder to see the alcohol as a major problem.

jesuswhatnext · 09/08/2010 15:38

hello dtc! i never used to get hangovers really, BUT, now i am sober i realise that i felt pretty shitty all the time - i look and feel a hundred times better now than i did in years!

Toclearmyhead · 09/08/2010 15:42

Hi desire! Agree with JWN - I only stopped last Monday, had a headache until about Saturday. These last 2 mornings I've felt amazing. I didn't think I had a hangover after my usual nightly consumption, but now I think I must have always had one Shock

Physically I feel great but battling mental demons now.

This is a good thread that really helps though

ChristianaTheSeventh · 09/08/2010 16:01

Mouse I've got more feedback from HR person. They haven't offered anyone the job. But apparently they want to 'gain more perspective' by interviewing other people. Sad. Apparently HR are not satisfied that I am autonomous enough. Otherwise they think I am perfect. WTF?! Sounds like a no to me and I am really depressed. I don't know why they can't just come out and say it. I've asked if I can have another meeting but HR aren't used to adding anything new to the process so don't want to do it like that?!!? Sounds like a madly inflexible company.

no wasindie, i was never a prefect, FAR too naughty, was expelled from several 'naice gals schools' - wouldnt listen to authority Blush seems to be a fairly typical alke trait!

i agree with you aswell re the weight, wahtever issues - one thing at a time, a day at a time - trying to be superwoman will only end in disaster!

OP posts:
ChristianaTheSeventh · 09/08/2010 16:30

I have no idea but I am so pissed off because it's taking them so long - 4 weeks to get to third interview, all this stuff that they wanted to get me on board straight away la di dah and now it's HR holding the whole thing up
