Well, here we go ladies (and MIFLAW)! The new thread to follow on from JWN's 'me and alcohol have ruined my family'. I hope no one minds that I decided to go with 'brave'? I just think that it describes us!

As a quick recap, I am 33 and on day 22 of sobriety (on this occasion!)

venus!! Yes, DD is lovley.

Mouseface · 30/07/2010 14:21

Trinity

How are you feeling? Great title.

I like the 3 B's - Bonking Brave Babes or Battling Brave Babes or Beautiful Brave Babes etc......

venusandmars · 30/07/2010 14:23

Stop distracting me. I'm trying to work

MoominMags · 30/07/2010 16:16

Hello Babes,

Almost time to sign off - possibly until Monday although might get a chance tomorrow. I hope that I can find you all!

JWN - Well done for tomorrow which, if my memory serves me correctly, is a magical and wonderful 2 months sober!!!!! Brilliant.

To everyone: will catch up with you later. Hope that everyone has fantastic weekends. Keep safe, one day at a time!

Heck! I hadn't meant for everything to go quiet on here.

I am just about to start making a curry. I've got some ginger beer (non-alc) in the fridge. Popadaoms and lime pickle are standing by.

Who else has plans for staying sober?

Have a good weekend moomin, I'm sure you will find us if there's a new thread over the weekend. It's strange I had always avoided the kind of threads that had hundreds of posts and were obviously a continuation of other threads. I thought they were 'cliquey'. I really hope that no-one who wants to post on this thread is ever put off by the fact that some of us now appear to 'know' each other.

algee · 30/07/2010 16:43

HAve a fab weekend moomin...was a new title decided upon? Haven't read just wanted to say goodbye before the end of the day.

Venus...you keep cooking yummy things...I'm eating like a slob...then moaning about not losing weight.

First N&T in front oif me, it is Frioday aftyer all!

MoominMags · 30/07/2010 16:45

I hope so too venus - I don't think so.

If there's anyone out there lurking and not sure whether to join in then PLEASE DO!!! Everyone welcome!

Hope the curry goes well! (And talking of curry, where are you curryeater?!)

OP posts:
MoominMags · 30/07/2010 16:45

algee - enjoy your n&t!!

OP posts:
algee · 30/07/2010 16:50

Know just what you mean about the continuation threads...hope the same.

Delish N&T

Whilst we're doing 'shout outs' wish chinkof would post. And everybody ewlse!!!

venusandmars · 30/07/2010 16:53

Algee, I really like cooking though. I went to some Indian cookery classes so I've got loads of spices and can use them in different ways to make different types of curry. And my dp is a fanatic chillie grower.

Tonight the curries are a mild chicken one with carrots and coconut, and a spicier one with cheese, peas and tomatoes (lots of chillie, cinnamon and corriander seed). I know that cheese doesn't sound great for curry, but if you use indian paneer or greek haloumi (I prefer haloumi 'cos it is salty) then it doesn't melt.

MoominMags · 30/07/2010 16:54

I think that all we can do is what everyone has been doing on here already and that's welcome anyone who posts - possibly remember to maybe summarise how we're doing - as the longer this goes on the less likely people are to read from the start! And then just now and again mentioning that everyone's welcome. Not sure there's much more we can do?

OP posts:
MoominMags · 30/07/2010 16:55

venus - sounds gorgeous and I am now STARVING!!!

Bye for now...

OP posts:
algee · 30/07/2010 16:56

Sounds lovely. I enjoy cooking well enough, but am prety unimaginative... and to be honest while dh has been away these past few months, I can't really be bothered ...so eat shite!

venusandmars · 30/07/2010 16:58

If we were on some other sites we could have those dreaded 'tickers' along the bottom of each post. Except ours would be counting up rather than counting down. And sometimes, they would go right back to the start. Maybe not such a good idea.

algee · 30/07/2010 16:59

You're so WISE moomin!
...every once in a while i go back to the beginning... will that thread linger on for a whilE? I still find it useful to remember, reading JWN, knowing (as I did every day) that I was heading for total meltdown too, but still reading through a drunken haze for 5 weeks before posting, and doing something about it...

algee · 30/07/2010 17:00

venus
...and the icons could illustrate the varying stages of bodily decay calculated on days of sobriety. I like it....

algee · 30/07/2010 17:01

inverse of course...

venusandmars · 30/07/2010 17:05

I've just eaten all the popodoms so my icon would be getting bigger and bigger. Now I have to go and hide the evidence of having had popodoms in the house before dp gets home. Hmm, now what does that remind me of?

Mouseface · 30/07/2010 17:13

Hello.

How are we? I'm mopping floors (the best I can with my shite legs) and keeping busy.

Hoops on toast here tonight for me, far too much heavy food last night.

And I will be drinking, but how much and when, will hopefully be a lot less and a lot later.

I've done the online shop and only ordered soft drinks!!!!

They're bound to call me and ask what the hell is going on!!

algee · 30/07/2010 17:22

hello mouse! ...the effect of this thread could bring down wine beer and spirit suppliers the country over!

Mouseface · 30/07/2010 17:26

I know!!!!! The'll be an country wide uproar at this rate!!!

I can see the headlines - 'Brave Battling Babes Booze No More'

algee · 30/07/2010 17:27
Grin
jesuswhatnext · 30/07/2010 17:32

arhhh that should be the title of the next thread!!!

well done mouse!!

venusandmars · 30/07/2010 17:40

JWN, how was your lunch?

I am so, so glad that you started this off with your original post. By doing that you have made such a difference to my life.

I avoided reading the thread for a long time. I thought - Christ, another pisshead whose life is out of control. My sincere apologies for those thoughts. Some clever psychologist no doubt has a way of describing a person who cannot see that their behaviour is the same as the person they are judging.

Have a fab weekend.

jesuswhatnext · 30/07/2010 17:42

well, i had a very nice lunch - no booze, i noticed that everyone was on soft drinks, most of us were driving, then going shopping, seeing mums, picking dcs up, before, i would have blaged a lift and drunk at least a bottle of wine everyone said i looked really well and had obviously lost weight!

i have bought the most expensive bleedin' chicken in the history of expensive bleedin' chickens went to a posh deli after lunch with my friend, asked for the bloody chicken, it was all wrapped up etc while i was chatting to said friend, went to pay - fucking hell!!!!! £16.89 for a bleedin chicken!!!
i just smiled very weakly and paid up, had i got pissed at lunchtime i have a feeling i would have been very rude and told them where to put it, and been told never to darken their door again. i may get dm very pissed and then let her loose in there! , then they would know about over-pricing!
