Radio Times Ambridge Diary 12-17 May:

After the traumatic events of last week, the village is still in shock. Several characters are desperate to keep their own secrets under wraps as fingers are pointed and suspicions are raised, but it sounds as if at least one will crack under the pressure. Tracy tries to bring everyone together for the cricket match, but has trouble raising a team. Meanwhile, Adam struggles to hold his family together as the Aldridges implode and Alice hits the self-destruct button.

Madcats · 09/05/2024 20:15

Thanks for the new thread.

I wonder who is going to figure out what really happened.

Mick?
Tracey via Brad and Jazzer?

It certainly won't be Harrison!

Gonners · 09/05/2024 20:24

Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

24/5 Fallon reaches the end of her tether

I'm only surprised that it takes her that long.

Thanks Gasp0de

JanglyBeads · 09/05/2024 20:50

Maybe it'll be Emmur. Which will/would be an awful moment.

iratepirate · 09/05/2024 21:19

Do we think they actually mean it when they say that Alice self-destructs?!

Madcats · 09/05/2024 21:41

iratepirate · 09/05/2024 21:19

Do we think they actually mean it when they say that Alice self-destructs?!

She presses self destruct. I take this to mean that somebody will stop her going ahead with whatever she planned. Then they'll pack her off somewhere to recover.

What a mess her life has become.

With 3 kids under the age of 5 IRL, I can see why she might fancy a few years away from the recording studios.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/05/2024 08:18

In my experience of actors they love their work and never turn anything down, especially given how long it might be before anything else is offered. Hollie Chapman has done fantastically well with this part. I'd forgotten she'd been playing Alice for so long - that Telegraph article says 25 years, starting when she was 11! Not many child actors successfully make that transition to playing the part as an adult.

George still at large, I see. No Alice, no Chris, no Aldridges at all. Bad news re Bartleby? No mention of a funeral, so perhaps Brian's going to survive. I do hope so.

Bruisername · 10/05/2024 13:45

The crisis at Casey’s is going to involve Bartleby…

Madcats · 10/05/2024 14:00

It myst be very odd being "Brian" or "Alice", finding out that large(?) numbers of listeners think you might be deaded.

I suspect that they are both fine, if a little battered (physically and mentally).

Can somebody remind me who is at Casey Meats; Freddie? They really do need to sort out what will happen to Lower Loxley. The lad will be 25 in December!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/05/2024 14:17

Freddie, yes. He has unexpectedly come into his own at Casey Meats. There was that odd episode at Christmas where some of the 'lads' had hidden David's meat order as some kind of practical joke on Freddie, but he sorted it all out. Not all of us here thought that showed that he was doing well, but I suspect that's what it was meant to show.

OP posts:
Bruisername · 10/05/2024 14:23

Aren’t we supposed to think he’s being bullied?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/05/2024 14:24

That was certainly how it came across to me.

I wonder if a drunken Alice making a pass at Jakob will be her moment of self destruction. She does have form for this kind of thing.

Gonners · 11/05/2024 20:41

@BoreOfWhabylon - Many thanks for that link. That was one of the best All-About-The-Archers interviews I've seen. He pretty much took over, and made me laugh.
