Plenty of opportunity around Brookfield . . .

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/05/2024 12:50

Where will Fallon and Harrison go on holiday? Isn't Split meant to be nice?
Not many from Ambridge seem to go on holiday but many are self-employed.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/05/2024 14:04

Perhaps the Am is far wider than any of us realised as well as tidal, and there's a causeway similar to the one to Lindisfarne or the one in Secret Water (Arthur Ransome), only passable at low tide. Would make as much sense as much of the SWs' geography!

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/05/2024 14:40

You've got it @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g . We have the same picture, although the brook where the ford is isn't tidal. It is pretty wide, or wide enough and deep enough to give a grown man panic attacks. I was think Hilbre or St Michael's Mount but not dissimilar.

The Am isn't only tidal but it can also change the direction of its source.
It is indeed a magic river ruled by the Ambridge Amriver fairy. Maybe the Grundys could monetise the magical powers.

I want Rochelle to remain a mystery. I have a fear that she might be Jason.

TottersBlankly · 23/05/2024 16:31

Excellent holiday arranging, @WhoppingBigBackside! Grin

What’s Tom going to be mithering about tonight - remembering the accident with Mike?

And there doesn’t appear to be anyone new in the cast to surprise Joy this week - but maybe @WhoppingBigBackside will be right next week?

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/05/2024 17:27

Couldn't think of anywhere else that sounded like a good idea for them, unless there's a Runforthem Hills somewhere.

Oh. Maybe it will cause SausageBore to remember he wasn't the driver and that he said he was because Hellin was over the limit. Maybe he'll say it to George and prick his conscience or to Fallon or anyone who might turn it round and think 'Hang on, Alice was incapacitated. Was she set up?'

Joy is the key. (sounds like a piece of advice)

Bruisername · 23/05/2024 17:29

So Rochelle will turn up and say ‘I just so happened to be stalking my mum that night and saw everything’

Bruisername · 23/05/2024 19:30

29.5 Ben struggles to say no, and Jolene makes an interesting discovery.

to do with the crash?

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/05/2024 19:48

Shame they didn't have balut. (if you don't know what it is, don't look it up)
Comparing an early miscarriage to what was almost a stillbirth is insulting.

** sorry if I got the terms wrong, not intentional.

I am sick of Harrison's whining.

Yes, it definitely is. And crass, too.

If that imbecilic doctor had not opened his big yap in front of Harrison, Harrison would not have known Fallon was not simply having a heavy period, and if he hadn't told Fallon she was pregnant she wouldn't have known either.

DrBlackbird · 23/05/2024 20:27

Okay I missed tonight but is Harrison’s "do whatever you need to" from Fallon going to be hunting Alice down???

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/05/2024 20:36

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime , yes, crass.
The doctor would not have revealed the information, yet we have to listen to this dross, which is deleted expletives insulting.
I'm tempted to complain to the BBC.

NC but have previously posted on these threads, I tend to stack a few omnibuses up and then binge listen.

Anyway... in my experience doctors ARE more discreet. A few years ago I visited A&E with extreme abdominal pain (which later transpired to be gallstones). My dad was the person who had taken me.... blood and urine tests were done and in front of my dad the a &e doctor said it isn't x, y or z, but we haven't ruled out A,B or C, but he did pass me a piece of paper discreetly which simply said 'you are not pregnant'. So there are clearly procedures for dealing with these things delicately.

There are gazillions of reasons why test results should only be given in private to the person affected. There really should be a protocol that even if the recipient says they don't care that it should still be private.

If a test shows anything of concern, it should always be the patient's decision, once they know , to share or not share, that information.

Ali-stare is going to morph into Alis-dare and turn to gambling.

As the fallout from the crash continues, tempers flare and hearts break. At Brookfield, barn dance preparations are hampered by a farming emergency, events prove triggering for one Grey Gables resident and Ben has a brainwave. Controversial decisions are made at the cricket, Kirsty finds herself in trouble and Tom makes an admission.

[That GG resident thing has been puzzling me, but it's a mistake, isn't it? They meant Ambridge resident, i.e. Alistair in the ford. Ben's brainwave was making him a cup of tea and driving him back to his car so he didn't have to tackle the ford again.]

26.5 Harrison has some making up to do, and Chelsea learns a few new tricks.
27.5 There’s a crisis at Casey Meats, and Lilian treads carefully.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 26-31 May:

Since that fateful car crash, George has been a haunted man. Now the weight of his actions is becoming unbearable - but Chelsea is determined to get him back to his old self. Meanwhile, a devastated Harrison eats humble pie, Freddie gets out of his depth trying to solve a mystery at the abattoir, and Jakob imparts worrying news to Lilian at the stables. Lynda embarks on a project to mark a historical occasion and the T20 cricket battle of the sexes takes place.

Interesting stuff

does Freddie find horse meat at the abattoir?

or find out all the workers are there illegally after the end of the visa scheme?

far too much Harrison in the coming weeks

Gonners · 24/05/2024 13:00

Lilian fears the worst - Justin is going to live forever?

If I were Fallon, I might think this was a good time to visit my stepsister Meriel, wherever she may be. New Zealand?

WhoppingBigBackside · 24/05/2024 13:09

I'm hoping that Fallon tells Harrison that the baby wasn't ever going to happen.
Harrison's making up will be to Pat not Fallon.

We've not heard from Lynda for a while. I hope New Robert has found some incriminating CCTV footage of George on the night of Bridgeadoom .

iratepirate · 24/05/2024 16:47

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g was Ben’s brainwave not when he suggested Joy could do the calling at the barn dance?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 24/05/2024 16:48

Ben said it was Lily who thought of that.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 24/05/2024 18:16

Madcats · 23/05/2024 09:58

Gonners I suspect that you simply wanted to wipe Ben's time with Sykesie from your memory cells. What was that all about!

I think it was about reviving Jasper Carrot’s career…

Perhaps it’s like the lands at the top of the Faraway Tree, and it’s a different river each week?

Today a babbling brook, tomorrow a raging ocean you could float the QE2 on.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/05/2024 22:38

No Rochelle in the future cast lists. Unknown male character. Hmm. I won't be best pleased if the speculation on the main thread turns out to be right and there is a trans identity involved in the Joy/Rochelle story. Surely not. Far too difficult to do convincingly on radio. The voices are a total giveaway.

It could be one of those occasions where they conceal a name from us …

On the other hand, she won’t need a voice if she’s no longer alive.
