Spoilers thread for The Archers. All Archers listeners are welcome here, whether you post on our main Archers thread or not. There's just one rule: please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers thread.

We usually add the BBC teasers and cast lists for forthcoming episodes as they
become available, plus the Radio Times and Daily Mail previews when possible.
Feel free to add anything else you come across, e.g. cast news, scriptwriter
tweets!

Very likely, Asking. I usually C&P direct from the BBC website which has not yet updated for Christmas week, although the teasers and cast lists for the weeks after that are all there. My information for Christmas week is from Mustardland where a kind person has added the spoilers from the Christmas RT, printed or online. I haven't seen it myself. Long gone are the days when buying the Christmas RT was a necessary part of Christmas so we could go through ringing the things we wanted to watch or listen to, including blockbuster films not shown on TV before. Vanished times.

Seeing Inspector Norris in the cast list always gives me hope!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/12/2024 15:20

I know, Gonners, I know! Surely this time.

Joy isn’t herself at all

Small mercies…

Henry is facing some surprising news on the 2nd Jan which is his 14th? birthday? Do you think Rob has written him a card/huge cheque for it?

Gonners · 15/12/2024 15:49

It has just been discovered that he was accidentally switched in the neonatal ICU and his real parents are perfectly pleasant, sane people who haven't been able to understand why the child they believed to be their son is such a selfish monster.

I wouldn't get too excited about celebs (as if you would), as the Actor who plays Mick has been in Panto in York for 40 years or so. And I have heard that Berwick Kaler is going to be in the Archers and he was mentioned this week as the longest Panto actor (as well as Mike's actor, I think the Editor has worked with both of them at his time in York).

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/12/2024 16:41

Thanks for that, Molly (I think). Oh dear.

Berwick Kaler's from Sunderland ... will he play Shula's new love, or Joy's ex-husband?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/12/2024 16:56

Perhaps he'll spill the beans about what happened with Rochelle. 'Wait a minute, haven't we met before? Or no - you're that woman who was in all the papers because of what happened with your daughter!' Dum di dum di dum di dum ....

Barrass's (Mick's) partner in a comedy routine, probably. Something as dull as that. I say this because Joy was the one who mentioned him being from Sunderland so is not likely to have known him there.

shame about Paul, though.

TottersBlankly · 17/12/2024 06:52

Shame about Mick …

And Christmas week without a single Brookfield or Bridge Farm Archer speaking a single sentence? (Kenton doesn’t really count as he doesn’t live at Brookfield.)

And who’s Paul going to be talking to? Guess it’ll be a vet based conversation with Jakob? In the pub? He’s not connected to anyone else in the list. Though new connections are good, I suppose.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 17/12/2024 13:35

We were not going to get off Mick-free, given Joy's intention of proposing to him on Christmas Day.

WhoppingBigBackside · 17/12/2024 13:45

Apart from the Aldridges and Jakob, it doesn't promise festive joy.
I enjoyed the 3 Fiancees yesterday.Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/12/2024 16:53

No new teasers to add to those posted last week (they got ahead of themselves because of Christmas so I expect we'll have to wait a bit for more now). However, the RT Ambridge Diary is in.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 22 Dec - 3 Jan
Alan has secured a major music act for the St Stephen's Christmas Eve service, prompting Eddie to start scalping the in-demand tickets. Thanks to Kate, the Aldridges face an alternative Christmas, and the whole of Ambridge has a New Year's Eve party with a difference.

All our helpful suggestions a long way upthread seem to have come to naught. Am I right in thinking that the major music act is just a local choir?

Is Kate proposing a vegan Christmas? I could cope with that in principle, but would want to know the menu. What else could she be proposing that would force an alternative Christmas on the Aldridges?

Thanks Gasp. There was the band member that Josh fancied.
I quite like the new React widget.

Gonners · 20/12/2024 18:56

I wonder whether Kate is a good cook. She might be forcing a Winter Solstice celebration, rather than Christmas, I suppose, provided that everyone is prepared to be warmly dressed, breakfasted and Up Lakey Hill <pardon my French> by about 9 o'clock tomorrow morning.

TherapistInATabard · 22/12/2024 22:38

This article was mentioned on The Cider Shed podcast Ambridge panto?

TottersBlankly · 23/12/2024 08:23

Not much of a Christmas without Adam and Ruairi doing Tortured and Intense. Sad

(I do miss their voices and input - they both seem to have a Jenny-ness about them that slightly catches my heart. Much more so than the rest of the Home Farm clan.)

Gonners · 23/12/2024 09:46

I would happily never hear Adam's voice again. Ruairi is great, though! Perhaps he could drop by and seduce Miranda?

Madcats · 23/12/2024 10:20

Did we ever establish whether "Brenda" is Amy Shindler?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/12/2024 11:15

Madcats · 23/12/2024 10:20

Did we ever establish whether "Brenda" is Amy Shindler?

I don't know how we can when she isn't in the cast list; that she was called "Amy" in the BBC podcast would seem to suggest it, but I am unsure the podcast is always accurate.

MsCheeryble · 23/12/2024 11:50

I wonder if Mick is going to insist that he meets Rochelle if he says Yes to Joy's proposal?
