The spoiler thread runs for around a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

I'm trying to imagine what was written that shocked them both so much. 'Rapist' - accurate. 'Paedo' - a common insult but not true as far as we know. C* - maybe.

Gonners · 14/10/2023 09:30

I assumed it was the C-word and that Rob did it himself.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 15th – 20th October 2023
The opening of Grey Gables is plunged into chaos, which leads to Oliver contemplating a controversial decision about the hotel's future.
Helen and Lee can't agree on how to handle a delicate situation and when events take an unexpected turn, Helen makes a surprising admission that prompts Kirsty to step in to stop her doing anything rash.
George's plans for a romantic night in are scuppered by Brad; Pip and Stella take a big step and Alan finds himself in a tricky situation.

Daily Mail Weekend Archers Update 15th – 20th October 2023
There’s chaos at Grey Gables this week. Oliver faces a crisis and then comes to a commercial decision.
+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=
I hope that Oliver coming to a commercial decision and the Grundys having the rug pulled from under them are linked; might he decide to take a larger share in GG and that he will sell Grange Farm to do it, so they will have to go? The only reason he let them stay in the first place was because Joe wanted to die there, and Joe has, so that is no longer an excuse for their continuing to infest the place. And with only Eddie and Clarrie actually living there it's faintly ridiculous for them to be paying the rent for six bedrooms.

I assume the idiot Helen plans to allow Rob to see Jack, against the court order that he may not do so.

WhoppingBigBackside · 14/10/2023 18:56

Thanks @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

Gonners · 14/10/2023 19:19

Oliver is so daft that he'll probably give Eddie & Clarrie a share of the sale proceeds, out of "guilt".

<on edit> ... worse than that, he'll probably just give it to Eddie. Or George!

WhoppingBigBackside · 17/10/2023 12:02

29/10/23 Brian has some difficult news to deliver...
Is it too much to hope that Brian decides that Home Farm no longer needs a farm manager. Stella gets a job in New Zealand and takes Pip and Rosie with her.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/10/2023 16:57

Thanks, Asking!

I like the way you think, Whopping!

ZadocPDederick · 17/10/2023 17:04

I fear that the Grundys having the rug pulled from under them will simply be a rival Hallowe'en attraction turning up, possibly at Lower Loxley.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 17/10/2023 17:33

Last night Oliver was all for giving up - and Eddie spurred him on to fight.

So Oliver’s going to change his mind and re-take the fortress GG. Necessitating the sacrifice of Grange Farm, which the SWs have had Eddie praising to the skies lately. (Have been saying this for weeks now and am not prepared to be proved wrong. Too excited!)

ZadocPDederick · 17/10/2023 17:53

The thing is, Oliver can't just decide unilaterally that he is going to buy GG, the new owners have to be prepared to sell to him. If Adil is simply their fairly incompetent manager, surely they'd just put a replacement in? Or is this where we find it was Adil on his own all along?

Gonners · 17/10/2023 20:59

Aw, bless him, I do hope it's not Adil's own money. I am rather fond of Adil.

I wonder if Brian’s news has something to do with the shoot?

22/10 Helen finds herself in an awkward situation, and there’s an emergency at the Stables.
Lee proposes? Alice falls off the wagon or has an accident?
23/10 Adam attempts to offer reassurance, and Mia has a brainwave.
Mia suggests she and Brad go to Felpersham uni?
24/10 Ian struggles to let go of the past, and there’s concern for the Grundys.
Grundys realise they need a new home
25/10 Reality sets in for Helen, and Mia fears the worst.
Helen needs to tell Lee it's over? Mia realises she won't have a home from in Ambridge?
26/10 Lynda offers some tough love, and Lilian spots an opportunity.
Lillian takes over at the Stables while Alice recovers?
27/10 It’s the end of an era for one resident, and Oliver takes tentative steps.
Robert Snell passes away.

Gonners · 21/10/2023 09:44

Shula puts the stables up for sale and gets an offer from developers? That's assuming she still owns it. Maybe Lilian's opportunity is to buy it.
Adam tells Ian it's Not His Fault that he has no job, GG is going under, Helen is making a zillion tons of cheese she can't sell and they Grundys are now homeless.
Helen realises she has an unsaleable cheese problem and finds a one-way ticket to San Francisco in Lee's backpack. #HopelessOptimism

I think you're right about Robert <sob> - Lynda has been talking about him lately. I'm glad they're not going to recast him, though.

WhoppingBigBackside · 21/10/2023 09:53

He was the loveliest character. No faults whatsoever without being one-dimensional.
You are probably right about the cheese.

I'm probably a bit of a wet lettuce, but I was shocked at the way Helen was speaking about Lee to Ian. I like Lee and think he had a settling effect on Helen.

I'm holding out for Stella to get a job somewhere far, far away and take the ghastly Pip with her.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 22nd – 27th October 2023
Is there a couples counsellor in Ambridge? As well as Helen and Lee's relationship floundering under the weight of recent events, Adam and Ian endure an awkward evening out that brings to light some issues. But when Ian admits the truth about a past experience, matters become more complicated.
There are fireworks at the Stables, which sets Mia off on a campaign.

Daily Mail Weekend Archers Update 22nd – 27th October 2023
Events threaten to tear Lee and Helen apart, while Ian and Adam also have serious issues to work through.
+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=
Are the fireworks at the Stables literally some little fool setting off a Roman candle there, or some such?

I fear that the end of an era (something which happens about six times a year in Archers spoilers) may indeed be Robert's death, this time.

And Adil is back, though it might be only on the phone.

WhoppingBigBackside · 21/10/2023 15:47

Thanks Asking. I hasn't thought of real fireworks. Robert's death has been signposted.

Gonners · 21/10/2023 15:49

I see Jakob's in the cast list, which suggests a horsey emergency.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/10/2023 17:59

I will weep genuine tears for Robert, if that's what it proves to be.

Thanks, Asking.

I'm way out with my 'predictions' so far

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 25/10/2023 20:50

I was right about the firework, but I think now that I am wrong about the era: Lee leaves on Friday, doesn't he.

WhoppingBigBackside · 25/10/2023 21:00

That will be the 'compare and contrast'.
