Maybe Adil and his wife had a non-legal wedding, and that's why Dr Malik said fiancee. Maybe the wedding was secret.

How likely is it that the dying Rob moves into Kirsty's house?

WitcheryDivine · 27/10/2023 10:18

Ha Whopping I literally just wrote the same on the main thread. But I have a friend in this situation and I feel like her brother would be the last person to say the man she lives with is her fiance rather than her husband, since obviously they share a religious/cultural background. (Legally he'd be right)

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/10/2023 13:22

@WitcheryDivine , (Legally he'd be right).
There's something not adding up there.
I think you mean 'Legally, he'd be wrong.' The nikah marriage is a religious ceremony and isn't a legal contract.

WitcheryDivine · 27/10/2023 16:37

Sorry I confused with grammar - I meant, legally he'd be right IF he said the man she lives with is her fiance. But he doesn't see him like that because to him the nikah is the important bit. He would say it's her husband.

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/10/2023 19:20

Maybe, but Azra is a big sister and maybe Adil missed out on a life assurance payout or widower's allowance due to the no legal contract part.
Maybe Adil and partner were religiously married with a fixed date for the register office when tragedy struck.

I watched the Alex Polizzi My Hotel Nightmare recommended on a DTA thread.

Perhaps it would depend where her money was? If it was in a country that recognised nikah as a legal marriage, he'd be quids in.

WhoppingBigBackside · 28/10/2023 13:07

Lee has been removed from Beechcroft to make room for Rob's return.
Maybe Rob will move in, or at least try to.
My predictions were rubbish for this past week.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 29th October – 3rd November 2023
The storyline of arch manipulator Rob Titchener asking to be baptised produces an unholy row this week, when his family descends on the area for the ceremony. With the Archers and Titcheners at battle lines, Alan struggles to keep the peace.
Brian has some difficult news to impart to a relative, but his approach may not be the best way.
Paul is almost at the end of his tether with tension at the Stables, there’s a misunderstanding between Pip, Ruth and Stella - and a Halloween party causes ructions.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 29th October – 3rd November 2023
Halloween hits Ambridge and the spooky Grundy event is not the only horror show in town:there’s also Rob Titchener’s baptism
+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=
I don't entirely understand this: why would the Archers know or care about Rob Titchener being baptised by a vicar not their own, in a church not in their village, when he is living in another different village?

On 11th October Alan handed Rob over to the Reverend Berry, vicar of the church in Downham. That he was at a meeting to do that was the reason he refused Pat's invitation to dinner that evening, while Usha lyingly claimed he'd be writing sermons because it was Wednesday. We also heard, on 10th October, "But he is going to baptise him, says Pat accusingly. No, explains Alan, he isn't: Rob asked him to but he refused to. A colleague of his will be performing the service."

It is even stranger that the Archers and Titcheners are said to be at battle lines (a peculiar phrase), given that while all the Titcheners are in the cast, the Archers are Josh, Pip, Ruth and Tony, of whom only Tony might feel called on to attack anyone abut Rob's baptism.

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/10/2023 16:55

On the plus side, looks like Alistair and Denise might finally be getting together.

Madcats · 28/10/2023 17:09

I'm weeks behind because...err...I keep finding other things to do. I am getting a bit of an idea of what's happening from these threads.

I just thought I'd pop on to say that "Lee" has tweeted (or is it X'd?) to say his farewell to all things Archers.

Apologies if this was already blindingly obvious (I think I've just caught one episode this week).

It always was a very odd match, IMO.

For some reason Lee's voice always reminded me of "Nathan" in Ted Lasso (Nick Mohammed), which would have made for an interesting cross-over.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/10/2023 17:11

Thanks, Asking!

I hope Alistair and Denise are going to get together. I'm rooting for them.

Baffled by which relative Brian has to impart difficult news to - none of his immediate family are in the cast this week. Can it be Neil, albeit he's also not speaking this week? There's something Berrrow related coming up (see below).

I'm going to be uber-spoilerish again and post the teasers for the subsequent weeks, as it looks as if we might finally be heading for the end of the line with Rob (I hope). Wouldn't put it past them to string this out till Christmas Day, though, and put us all in the festive spirit by forcing us to listen to Rob's deathbed speech while we clear up the wrapping paper and reach for the Rennie's.

(I have a nasty feeling Hannah is going to leave. Shame. I liked Hannah mark 3, or whichever the current incarnation is.)

5/11 The Bull’s Bonfire Night goes with a bang, and Alan is feeling the pressure.
6/11 Relationships are tested at Grange Farm, and Jazzer has reservations.
7/11 Joy attempts to offer advice, and Usha has a brainwave.
8/11 Emma seeks reassurance, and there’s a difficult balancing act for Helen.
9/11 It’s all change at Berrow, and George hatches a plan.
10/11 Helen makes a shocking decision, and Eddie looks for the silver lining.

15/11 Alice takes a big step, and Jakob has his arm twisted.

Helen's going to let Ron move in, isn't she?

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 28/10/2023 18:35

Inevitably. No other reason, surely, for the precipitate defenestration of Lee.

Thanks @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime and @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g!

I was wondering if Brian might be the one to break the news to Helen that Titcheners en masse have arrived in the vicinity and are coming to look through the dairy window?

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 28/10/2023 18:36

Or, no - he’d break the news to Tony. ‘Relative’ = BIL?

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/10/2023 19:25

Loks like Lee's really gone

Other TA actors wishing him well

Gonners · 28/10/2023 20:16

Well, if true then that's a proper spoiler from Ryan Early. I'm happy enough to see the back of him - especially if it messes up Helen's plans for weekend babysitting - but it kills that bit of non-suspense stone dead.

ZadocPDederick · 28/10/2023 21:17

Helen won't allow Lee's departure to mess up her babysitting rota, she'll just expect all her relatives to step up to the plate.

WombatCowgirl · 29/10/2023 09:48

When Rob first reappeared I wondered if Helen would go back to attend his last illness, like in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, so I will feel smug if so!

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 29/10/2023 21:16

TherapistInATabard · 29/10/2023 23:08

Who are Harry Chilcott, Shiv Gupta and Annie?

ZadocPDederick · 29/10/2023 23:56

Maybe whoever Rob drags in as his sponsors at the last minute now Brine has told him to fuck off?

ZadocPDederick · 29/10/2023 23:57

Or contractors working on GG?

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/10/2023 02:00

Shiv is Usha's brother. He's appeared briefly over the years.

Fifireee · 30/10/2023 02:20

The actor who plays Lee is clearly not happy.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 30/10/2023 05:28

Do tell, @Fifireee - Google isn’t offering anything significant.
