Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread (hence the zipped mouth on the emoji!). Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4632741-archers-thread-139-whos-the-daddy-no-ceremonial-required-to-join-us-discuss-the-archers-here The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for well over a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

For once, I have all four things I like to put up on Saturday if I can.

BBC One-Liners
13 Aug Lynda’s interest is piqued and Pip has plans
14 Aug There’s an awkward encounter for Ian and Adil finds himself under pressure
15 Aug George makes a dangerous plan and Ben struggles to let go of the past
16 Aug Ruth has cause for concern and David attempts to offer reassurance
17 Aug Henry finds himself in too deep and there’s a grand day out for the Grundys
18 Aug The nightmare continues for Helen and Tracy proves to be a friend in need.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 13th – 18th August 2023
Rob may be on his way out but he's spreading misery while he can. This week Helen and Kirsty have a confrontation as he makes his presence felt again. An unexpected guest also sours things for Pip and Ruth. The Grundys go on a day out, which gives Eddie one of his bright ideas, but George has second thoughts. Ben enjoys a night out and attracts attention - but is it too much, too soon?

Daily Mail Weekend Archers Update 13th – 18th August 2023
Ben enjoys a night out, but is it too much too soon? Ruth and Pip’s happy outing with Rosie is ruined by an unexpected guest, and Rob pops up yet again.

I can't say the Mail adds much. I suppose that the unexpected guest who spoils the outing with Rosie might be Lottie rather than Stella, Lottie being Pip's school friend; it is unlikely to be Rob because he wouldn't be described as a guest.

WhoppingBigBackside · 12/08/2023 11:56

Thanks Asking. Rob could book a B&B at Brookfield. Jim did.

Lottie will invite herself while bumping into Ruth & Pip. The 'outing' might not be a day out.

The Grundies having a day out is a bit unusual - never without an ulterior motive, no doubt.
Geowurge won't go and instead will take Henry and Jack to meet Rob.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/08/2023 15:19

Thanks, Asking! I'm wondering about the announcer. Normally, when they have need of someone to do a brief sentence or background noise, they get one of the cast to do it. This must be a bit more substantial. Station? Fairground?

OP posts:
WhoppingBigBackside · 12/08/2023 15:39

Ben might go to something where announcements are made?
The Grundies might go to the county show.
Railway was my first thought, but not many seem to travel by train.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/08/2023 15:50

Oddly, there's a Jack Ashton who is a British actor, but he's quite well known, so I find it hard to believe he's reduced to a two-line role on TA. Used to play the vicar on Call the Midwife.

OP posts:
JanglyBeads · 12/08/2023 15:57

It's hard to imagine how an Announcer could be a (temporarily) major role, yes.

Maybe Ron's going to arrive with a Town Crier but they didn't want to give the game away?? Outside the Window of Doom??

Also, what is going to be too soon for Ben? Something threatening his MH? Something to do with Beth?

WhoppingBigBackside · 12/08/2023 16:02

Vince was on the radio today, I think, in Tess of the D'Urbervilles.

I think just going out to somewhere there are more than three other people might be seen as dangerous for him; the editorial team may well have forgotten that he went to a gig of Freddie's a couple of months ago.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/08/2023 14:36

67 posts to go. Somebody give me a nudge if there is a sudden rush of posts. At the present rate of posting, we should be good for another month before we need a new thread.

Roller skating could mean an accident. Pip expressed that she hadn't been a good skater.

TherapistInATabard · 16/08/2023 15:42

Ah so the announcer will presumably be at the county show. Tonight’s sounds boring but I’m rubbing my hands in anticipation of tomorrow!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/08/2023 17:27

Just been scrolling through the spoilers on the BBC website.

7th September: Pat faces an uphill struggle and there’s sad news at Brookfield

Jill? Although it could easily just mean Jill drops a tray of flapjacks as she takes them out of the oven. 8th September offers no clue. Pip has something to get off her chest and Mia is on cloud nine.

Possibly to do with Ben. 04/09/2023 Paranoia sets in for Ruth and Ben has a difficult announcement to make - giving up on his course? Or telling the residents at The Laurels that he's leaving? Sykesy is in the cast for that week. Maybe his final appearance. Sad

JanglyBeads · 18/08/2023 17:35

Sad news - the farm is beyond repair!

MuddlerInLaw · 18/08/2023 17:43

Oh, that sounds like Sykesy!

If it’s Jill we’ll surely have weeks of promotional build up.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/08/2023 17:43

Yes, that would do it! Grin

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 20th – 25th August 2023
At Bridge Farm, Helen discovers some shocking information that causes chaos and appears to have wide-ranging consequences. Tom is furious but Natasha offering some potentially controversial suggestions for the Tea Room proves a distraction, if not necessarily a welcome one.
Emma faces more trouble with George and it feels like make-or-break time for the troubled teen.
Pip is surprised when Toby arrives at Brookfield, making everything more complicated and pushing her into a dramatic decision.
Susan offers some tough love, while one resident struggles to forgive and forget.

Daily Mail Weekend Archers Update 20th – 25th August 2023
Pip makes a dramatic decision, while George causes more trouble at Grange Farm, and chaos reigns at Bridge Farm.
+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+

Maybe the shocking information that Helen discovers is that they didn't own the shop in Borchester where she ran Ambridge Organics, they only leased it, and they will have to pay the real owners back the money they got when they sold the premises. Nothing to do with Rob is likely to shock anyone particularly at this point, or have wide-ranging consequences, I wouldn't suppose.

I think "troubled teen" is a great deal too mild as a description of George.

20 Aug Helen reaches the end of her tether

Frankly I thought her tether had snapped long ago.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/08/2023 14:57

Thanks, Asking! Too much to hope, I suppose, that Pip decides to move to Outer Mongolia.

20 Aug Helen reaches the end of her tether

Frankly I thought her tether had snapped long ago.

I think Helen's tether is very elastic, she has reached the end of it so often.

JanglyBeads · 20/08/2023 16:18

Probably a side issue, but is Toby Rex's visitor or what?

TherapistInATabard · 20/08/2023 16:24

He could be, yes. Or it’s Pip, again seeking advice on her love life from the man who loves/loved her.

TherapistInATabard · 20/08/2023 16:26

Pips decision will be to go for it with Stella, just as Toebee comes back declaring undying love. Or something.

MuddlerInLaw · 20/08/2023 16:26

I’m guessing Toby returns to declare undying love and maybe even propose to Pip - which prompts her realisation of her feelings towards Stella, or alternatively the whole of womankind.

WhoppingBigBackside · 20/08/2023 16:37

Thanks Asking. I'm curious as to what Natasha's suggestion will be.
