Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread (hence the zipped mouth on the emoji!). Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4632741-archers-thread-139-whos-the-daddy-no-ceremonial-required-to-join-us-discuss-the-archers-here The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for well over a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Many thanks, Asking, for both updates and ferret picture! I can't knit, unfortunately, or I'd have a crack at one of those. I bet real life ferrets aren't cute, but that is.

They are cute. A parent of a child in my class brought some ferret kittens in and they were gorgeous. They do have a certain odour though and I could smell it on my dress even after I'd washed it.

WhoppingBigBackside · 30/06/2023 21:55

Apologies for posting on here as it's not a spoiler but I agree with Gasp. I'm only lurking on the main thread as it seems so negative these days.
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · Today 17:03
Somebody should mention this to Amol Rajan! I like him as a presenter generally, but his enunciation is not always tiptop. I'm not optimistic he'll have the precision necessary to host University Challenge.
You don't, but when the question involves reeling off multi-syllable chemical names or obscure geographical names, precision is key. I'm sure he'll try his best.

I used to love it when Jeremy Paxman mispronounced something. Smile
Nick Robinson does not have an ear for pronunciation. Not a fan of Amol Rajan.

The Rob actor is excellent, isn't he.

JanglyBeads · 01/07/2023 10:48

Ah so the reports of Lee's actor popping up in a soap over the summer may be because he departs for the US soon and prolongs his stay there? Which Rob won't have directly planned, but of course it will delight him!

We have a Mum at school who comes to pickup with their pet ferret in a transparent-fronted backpack (I think it is an actual pet carrier but it just looks like a kids’ rucksack). I kid you not.

See says they are very similar to cats.

WhoppingBigBackside · 01/07/2023 14:51

DCat looks a bit weaselly. She looked like a rat when she was a kitten, but she has quite a long brass neck now.

I wonder if I could carry DCat is a little backpack.
Do you have a little biscuit carrier for the school run, @ChocChipHandbag ?

JanglyBeads · 01/07/2023 16:59

Grin haha

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 2nd – 7th July 2023
Let's start with good news - it's the wedding of Tracy and Jazzer this week, and while a last-minute emergency and Jim's present cause chaos, it is a heartening story. But just as things are starting to feel more positive for Helen and Lee, Henry drops a shocking bombshell. Meanwhile, Susan and Neil struggle to cope with George, and Lynda's plan for the fete takes shape.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 2nd – 7th July 2023
Did we ever really think Jazzer and Tracy's big day was likely to go ahead without a hitch?
This week it's Jim who threatens to put a spoke in the wheel for the wedding of the year.
Meanwhile, just as Helen is starting to feel more positive about her life, her son Henry drops a bombshell.

+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

Do we think Henry's bombshell might be that he is in touch with Rob and wants to meet with him? (Don't know or care what Jim's might be, but can't they keep the use of "drops a bombshell" to one character in a week?)

Novum · 01/07/2023 18:52

It seems pretty clear Henry's bombshell is to do with Knob. Knob hopes that he can persuade/bribe Henry into saying he wants to see Knob, preferably with Jack in tow.

JanglyBeads · 01/07/2023 20:01

I think bombshell means something huge like Ron's been in touch with him for as long as he's had a smartphone.

WhoppingBigBackside · 01/07/2023 20:11

Thanks Asking. Maybe Clarrie and Eddie missed a trick not having a ferrety fun backpack for the school run. Presumably they take Poppy to school occasionally.

CaptainMyCaptain · 01/07/2023 20:12

JanglyBeads · 01/07/2023 20:01

Hence Henry on his phone under the bed covers.

Shades of Happy Valley?

If only …

I know I keep thinking this too, it's almost too similar but WHERE IS SARAH LANCASHIRE

Wilma55 · 11/07/2023 15:36

The TV teasers go awol for part of next week..
Fri 14/7 There's earth shattering news for someone and Fallon awaits a decision.
Then nothing till Thu 20/7
George goes too far with shocking consequences and Fallon has a cunning plan.
21/7 Tony struggles with his emotions and Harrison tries to find the right words

So do we assume something major is happening between the Friday and following Thursday?

MuddlerInLaw · 11/07/2023 16:13

From BBC TA site:

16/07/2023
Kirsty attempts to keep a cool head, and Jazzer is brought back to earth with a bump.
17/07/2023
Helen finds herself cornered, and George ends up fighting a losing battle.
18/07/2023
Tempers flare at Bridge Farm, and Emma goes for the jugular.
19/07/2023
Neil struggles to hold his tongue, and Helen faces a dilemma.

Maybe the whole week wasn’t up before? Glad to be of service!

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 9th – 14th July 2023
It's another busy week in Ambridge. Susan tries to play peacemaker to Brad and George, a terrible mistake is made at Berrow and Neil's decisive action leads to more problems for the Carters.
Harrison makes a big decision that could prove Fallon's worst fears.
Helen is on the spot and it's uncertain how she will get herself out of this situation.
Pip and Stella dream big and someone has life-changing news.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 9th – 14th July 2023
Susan tries hard to act as peacemaker, but it remains to be seen if Brad and George can make up for too long or if too much has happened.
While Fallon is more worried than ever about competition from a proposed electric vehicle charging station, Harrison makes a big decision - but will it help or hinder his wife?

+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+
I have always thought that someone being on the spot meant they were among those present in a particular place ("I know she hit him: I was on the spot at the time and I saw everything") or that they had to do something immediately ("she had to make up her mind on the spot about whether or not to hit him"), and it was only if they were put on the spot that they were put in an awkward position, but hey. Or maybe they do mean Helen is right there rather than her being in a difficulty.

I was very late getting my act together. I tend to wait for the Daily Fail spoiler before posting, and if I don't get it fairly quickly I may forget altogether.

JanglyBeads · 12/07/2023 00:06

How often does a double writer week happen??

WhoppingBigBackside · 12/07/2023 06:37

No idea, but I enjoyed hearing George get fired. Susan & Emmur won't be pleased.

WhoppingBigBackside · 12/07/2023 09:55

Oh, I've just thought (rare event, that) the sausage roll will have been eaten by Jodie, and Martyn Gibson will sack Neyull, promoting George. Jazzer will probably also lose his job.
Ghastly Geowurge will try to kill Hannah.

Dr Webber could be an academic. Scrub thar.

Mr Titchener is mentioned in the cast list!
