Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread (hence the zipped mouth on the emoji!). Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4632741-archers-thread-139-whos-the-daddy-no-ceremonial-required-to-join-us-discuss-the-archers-here The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for well over a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Radio Times 22nd – 27th January 2023
Brian is worried about the future of the business - can Justin help? But then he receives some shocking news that will have repercussions for all the family. Fortunately, Ruth is ready to give Stella all the advice she needs about farm management, and David is there too, offering a shoulder to cry on.
Adam is getting frustrated wading through the weeds of his own affairs, while Alice is having trouble getting hold of Ruairi just when she needs him most, until a crisis brings a surprising moment of togetherness with Chris.
Elsewhere, Kate finds herself on the receiving end of a sweet gesture from Jakob.

I fear that it does now look as if Jennifer may be going to die.

God help Home Farm if Ruth is the best they can get in the way of advice. Apart fom anything else, she is a cattle farmer, and Home Farm doesn't have any of those.

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/01/2023 20:31

I'm actually wondering if it's Brian who is not deaded but receives a diagnosis of something seriously amiss.

TottersBlankly · 19/01/2023 20:45

Thank you, @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime .

I suppose it could be about Brian - but that doesn’t seem terribly efficient when it’s Angela Piper who has been conspicuously absent all this time.

(I’m afraid I did see something random, maybe on a chat forum rather than some reliable source, suggesting the actress had suffered a stroke - but I’ve no idea if that is true or invented.)

Tony seeking peace and quiet is more likely if it’s his sister. If it were his brother-in-law he’d surely be busy trying to support the rest of the Aldridge clan.

Would depend on reciprocal arrangements for recognising qualifications between the UK and the US, I suppose. I have no idea how physiotherapy works as a profession over there. I can't see him moving. I think we're in for a blended family story.

Oh I know this one, a friend of mine who's a fabulous physio moved to the US and didn't work as a physio because she would have had to requalify. I think it might knock some time off the training, but definitely not all.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/01/2023 22:33

Oh dear. Thanks, Asking. Not looking good for Jennifer. Sad

The one-line teasers are now up for the week starting 29th. Here goes.

Sun 29/01 Who has been caught red-handed? Tony is put on the spot.
30/01 Lilian has a rude awakening, and Justin has an idea.
31/01 There’s confrontation at Willow Cottage, and Chelsea throws down the gauntlet.
01/02 Tom is getting carried away, and Harrison deals with a delicate situation.
02/02 There’s an unexpected guest at Ambridge Hall, and has Natasha changed her tune?
03/02 Someone could be on a final warning, and Adam and Tony bask in their efforts.

Hmm. None of that looks to me like a village/family in mourning for Jennifer, or anyone else. But that could be what they want us to think!

Thanks Gasp0de

Yep, red herrings aplenty as a mighty matriarch falls

Wilma55 · 21/01/2023 14:08

Daily Mail
There were those who thought Brian got away lightly after poisoning the Am. He had to cough up £120,000 which was on the low side...but was lucky lucky to have not been thrown in the slammer. The forces that control Ambridge however, have been harsher than the Borsetshire Beak, pouring the stream of ill luck over the cravat wearing cad. Now a slew of trouble is heading his way, which will force Brian to answer testing questions. Elsewhere, Ruairi proves elusive as he broods on his bitter past, Kate has reason to celebrate, Adam gets a nice surprise and Alice and Chris share - as they seem to a lot these days - a warm moment.

Wonder what that means for Brian????

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/01/2023 14:18

Thank you, Wilma, that looks conclusive to me. Jennifer survives (silently) for a while longer. I wonder if Brian has more health problems, or if it's financial.

JanglyBeads · 21/01/2023 14:39

Ah so there's going to be a point to all the Stella/Brine conversations about farm machinery!
Maybe this will be when we discover how she knows (now mild mannered, village shop till operator) Mr Elliott?!

TottersBlankly · 21/01/2023 14:44

But I read the DM summary as possibly inheritance complications following Jenny’s death. Plus Ruairi feeling the sting of having two mothers die.

?

JanglyBeads · 21/01/2023 18:24

But Kate's celebrating?!

And the red to the Am etc, a slew of trouble - sounds much more like business problems?

JanglyBeads · 21/01/2023 18:25

* ref to the Am, although it* was* red wasn't it?

ILoveShula · 21/01/2023 20:01

Matt Crawford and Ruth Archer are real-life partners.
Read it in Celia Hammond's article in Radio Times.

Gosh! I heard some years ago that FF lives in an area not far from us, but I don't know if she's still there.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/01/2023 23:34

Aww. Bet she calls him Tiger Grin

TottersBlankly · 22/01/2023 19:06

It’s definitely happening - I’ll bet my sibling’s favourite cat. All the Aldridges about to gather. (Apart from Ruairi, obvs.) …

ILoveShula · 22/01/2023 19:53

Has all the 'life-partner' talk from Kate made anyone else suspect that she is going to be dumped?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/01/2023 20:11

Well, I got that very wrong. Sad Kudos to the spoiler writers. I still think some of the ones for next week are odd in the circumstances.

OP posts:
TottersBlankly · 22/01/2023 20:12

It’s possible. (Though it would be nice if a fictional partner went off to visit another woman and wasn’t having an affair!)

But breaking up with Jakob might mean she goes back to South Africa after the funeral. Which would be excellent. Really shouldn’t be hard to find a manager for Spiritual Home. (How about Erik??)

Gonners · 23/01/2023 07:41

When we heard that Jakob had bought her a ticket to SA, I wondered whether it might be one-way.

ILoveShula · 23/01/2023 08:02

Though it would be nice if a fictional partner went off to visit another woman and wasn’t having an affair! There wouldn't be much drama in that.

It reminds me of the MN posts along the lines of 'My DH/DP's best friend is female but I completely trust him. Our relationship is rock solid.'

Throwaway1066 · 23/01/2023 16:02

I didn’t want to post this on the main thread incase of spoilering. But I just read the voice actor for Robert Snell died before Xmas? How awful, I wonder where and when and how they will write him out?
