Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread (hence the zipped mouth on the emoji!). Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4632741-archers-thread-139-whos-the-daddy-no-ceremonial-required-to-join-us-discuss-the-archers-here The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for well over a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

For maximum effect?
Maybe Julieanne and Ruairi will be there too.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/01/2023 18:54

Crikey. Are you envisaging something like this:

Julianne: Come on, Ruairi. I'm paying you a small fortune to do whatever I want, whenever I want it.
Ruairi: [some sort of miserable dialogue]
[commotion, cackling]
Lilian: Over here, Jenny Darling! I've got the champers. <fnar, fnar>
[Sudden change of tone]
Actually, Jenny, I've changed my mind. Let's go somewhere else.
[thud]
Jenny! Jenny! Can somebody get an ambulance!
[full length version of Barwick Green]

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 15th – 20th January 2023
Rex is happy to find a place to crash, but someone else may have had the same idea, and there's only so much sofa to go round.
Brad finds himself on the receiving end of some flattering attention from a fellow maths enthusiast - is this the beginning of a beautiful friendship, or something else?
For Stella, it's time to exert her independence, although whether Brian agrees is another matter.
Leo (I think this is meant to be Lee) needs Helen's support, which could make things awkward for her, while Jim finds himself doing a deal with Justin.
And Tony is still working out what to do with Lilian's kind but misguided Christmas offering.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update January 15th – 20th January 2023
A charming rover comes skipping over the hills of Borsetshire, across the mighty Am and the attention of at least one Ambridger.
Rex, who's suddenly in need of a bit of Ambridge hospitality,
keeps his eye on this blow-in and does what he can to protect soft hearts and soft furnishing that might be at risk.
Chelsea is far less protective of Brad, who's been receiving a flurry of maths-based messages from a possible admirer. Chelsea thinks her brother should take matters to the next level, but Brad is more wary.
Meanwhile, Helen and Lee – who head the long list entitled 'Ambridge's most unlikely couples' – find themselves with bigger concerns when Lee gets a worrying phone call.

I think it must be this coming Friday that Lilian and Jennifer are off for their break? Though Lilian said on Friday that it was five days away, so who knows.

There's not really any portents of doom there, is there?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/01/2023 23:22

No, the portents, such as they are, are for Sunday 22nd on.

That’s what makes me suspicious. No mention of JD = major thing happening!

WhoppingBigBackside · 15/01/2023 12:37

Thanks Asking. Is the rover Erik or might it be one of Kate's children? Who's sofa will Rex be occupying?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/01/2023 14:45

WhoppingBigBackside
Who's sofa will Rex be occupying?

If it is Kirsty's (she is his partner in the rewilding, so might feel responsible for him if he is ill) that might explain the veiled hints about there being only so much sofa to go round, if Jakob's return means Erik gets the same idea about moving in with her?

WhoppingBigBackside · 15/01/2023 14:57

You could well be right, @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime . Erik and Jakob would probably get on each other's nerves.
I'd have thought that Willow Farm had 3 bedrooms - so Rex might sleep in Phoeble's old bedroom and Erik in with Kirsty. I suppose the place might seem a bit cramped. What's up with Rex and why can't he stay in the narrowboat?

Willow Farm did have three bedrooms: one for Roy and Hayley, one for Phoebe and one for Abbie. How many it has now is anyone's guess. There was space in Kirsty's room for Philip Moss to move in without making Phoebe and Roy feel cramped, I think.

WhoppingBigBackside · 15/01/2023 15:54

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime , maybe a bedroom has migrated to Willow Cottage, and JD is hiding in it.

CaptainMyCaptain · 15/01/2023 16:43

Rexroth had a bad cold the other day maybe the narrowboat is damp snd mouldy.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/01/2023 16:50

Belated thanks for the spoilers, Asking. I wonder if Lee's call is to do with his girls.

OP posts:
TottersBlankly · 15/01/2023 17:23

The most obvious Lee-complication would be his daughters’ mother being ill or ‘posted abroad’ so they have to live with him for a while. And Helen being precious about Henry and Jack needing unimpeded space …

But who knows?

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/01/2023 17:39

She's got form for not doing well with stepdaughters...

Rexroth? Weird autocorrect I mean Rex obviously.

Confused
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/01/2023 22:06

She tried very hard with Annette, but got it very wrong.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/01/2023 22:09

I think Lee's daughters disliked her on sight. Didn't they dump the hand-made chocolates she brought for them in the bin, or something?

TottersBlankly · 18/01/2023 19:14

OMG - I was half right!

And it sounds as if Lee will be fighting for erm … custardy - so they probably will eventually end up chez Helen.

WhoppingBigBackside · 18/01/2023 19:30

Lee should definitely fight for custardy.
Given a choice of California or Ambridge, I'm sure anyone can see that there's no contest.
Helen will be a super stepmother.

TottersBlankly · 19/01/2023 19:16

Lee is going to move to California …

Byeeeee!

ILoveShula · 19/01/2023 19:25

Lee is a physiotherapist and might find it fairly easy to get work, green card or whatever it is you need.
Helen has a competence in making cheese and rearranging vinegar displays.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/01/2023 19:29

Would depend on reciprocal arrangements for recognising qualifications between the UK and the US, I suppose. I have no idea how physiotherapy works as a profession over there. I can't see him moving. I think we're in for a blended family story.

OP posts:
CaptainMyCaptain · 19/01/2023 20:05

Angry Lee might be too much like Rob and Helen will be triggered especially as he sees Lee'sexes point if view. I'd advise her not to stab him though.
