Cripes. On seeing @SnowlayRoundabout's post, I've had to have a look, of course. I'd say it's a crisis involving Ruairi, week beginning 22/1. The Editor himself is directing that week, one clue. Ruairi and Julianne both in the cast list, clue 2. Ruairi and Julianne were interviewed on the radio the other day (Today programme), clue 3.

Sun 15 Jan Rex needs to relocate, and someone is making himself right at home.
16-01 Is Brad about to seize the day? Tony has a surprising plan.
17-01 Justin is a master salesman, and Chelsea offers encouragement.
18-01 Lee has a worrying phone call, and the Professor becomes the student.

Lord. Has Ruairi done away with himself?

I hope not. He is in the cast list, so if he has harmed himself in some way he's not lost the power of speech. Maybe it's a medical emergency and Julianne tries to get him off his hospital bed so he can keep to his contractual obligations? Looks like it's Alice to the rescue, which is odd, given their difficulties.

Or is that going to be the week we say goodbye to Jenny? (With Chris and Alice travelling to London to tell Ruairi?)

Oh gosh, I do hope not. You're right, though, that would make sense, although it's odd in 2023 to think of people having to physically travel to a place to break news rather than getting hold of someone online or by phone.

They might tell him on the phone but go down to bring him back. But arriving in London in the middle of the night suggests an uncustomary degree of purposeful haste.

I’d guess Ruth might be giving advice to Adam on the sudden loss of a mother?

MIA since some time last year. The teasers above suggest something major happening in the Aldridge family - and Ruairi and Julianne were on the Today programme last week - which suggests something momentous is about to happen.

But of course all our speculation could be wrong!

ah ok, i thought something must have happened. Thanks. I'm a recent returner after a long time, so i am easily confused.

Jennifer last spoke on air on 15th February, 2022. Her actor, Angela Piper, has been playing Jennifer for almost sixty years and must be well into her eighties, so a fair few people have worried in case she isn't in cast because her health is not good.

Wonder if Noluthando has been reintroduced (even if only by name) because she (and her brother?) will come for erm … Jenny’s funeral.

Not saying that’s a done deal, of course, but I’m preparing. I wake up in the morning wondering how the Aldridge clan will manage such an awful loss.

I'm wondering if there's going to be some massive crisis around Noluthando turning up in the UK, Kate asks Ruairi to rally round because she's in London, he can't because Julianne makes a fuss, hence Alice and Chris drop everything ....

It's on my mind too! I chose the main thread title last night with this possibility in mind. What fools we'll look like if it's all a false alarm.

I was worrying/ fascinated to imagine the effect of Jenny's demise on all of the relations.
In a way, it's her own generation that will be most interesting to watch react: Lillian, Tony, Brine of course.

It'll be awful for Ruari.

There are no episode synopses visible for 29th January on, but that's not unusual. <drums fingers> I'm not noted at Chez Gasp for my patience.

Lillian and JD's spa break has been mentioned a few times. Signalling a dedding perhaps?
