Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread (hence the zipped mouth on the emoji!). Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4632741-archers-thread-139-whos-the-daddy-no-ceremonial-required-to-join-us-discuss-the-archers-here The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for well over a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Thanks Asking. No JennyDarling. Rex will be the one grappling with the secret.
Any Brian is good.

Shopping today, unlike last week, was calm and uncrowded. I suppose everyone went out yesterday to avoid the crowds!

Anyhow, it's that time of week again so

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 25th – 30th December 2022
Christmas Day at Brookfield, and David's doing his best in the kitchen. The whole family remains set against Vince Casey, which could make things awkward for Elizabeth.
Chelsea's on a mission with Brad, but she's not impressed with Jazzer's plans to treat Tracy.
George learns something he'd rather not about Ed & Emma, while Fallon comes to a concerning realisation that will require Ed & Will to team up. And Lynda's Christmas Chronicles community storytelling event finally gets underway.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 25th -30th December 2022
The ghost of Christmas Past rocks up with a gift for Tony that leaves him happy, yet deeply confused. While he struggles to understand the back story behind the present, Elizabeth finds herself struggling to reconcile her past feelings for Vince, given his current behaviour towards the ever-dwindling Brookfield crew.
On the upside, the Aldridges, on their uppers a few Christmases ago, splash the cash around, while over at Tracy's, there's hope that better times lie ahead.
Future troubles threaten Fallon, while Lynda, who has asked Ambridgers to delve into their pasts for the community storytelling, has to decide who'll make the cut.

I went into town and decided to nip into the supermarket for a newspaper and some last minute things. It was very busy. I managed for once to pick a fast moving queue. Got lots of bargains.

Thanks Asking, Merry Christmas!

ILoveShula · 24/12/2022 18:13

Tony will get a guitar from Father Christmas, not the train set.

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/12/2022 18:52

I hope you all had a good Christmas. Here's hoping that we have some good plots for 2023.

I've reminded myself that I ought to crack on with pics from my Xmas present (Vanessa Whitburn's 1996 book "The Archers - the Official Inside Story"). I'll break you in gently with:

Oh … That was a painful couple of pages! Fun book to own though!

I’m not at home or I could have offered a couple of jolly ‘Christmas at The Bull in 1963’ type pics from my extensive (2 vols Xmas Hmm) Archers’ library.

Thanks for more irresistible spoilers, @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime. And happy almost New Year to you all!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 31/12/2022 21:10

I used to have that book, but I can't find it anywhere. Grrr, to quote Chelsea.

Anyhow, here goes with next week:

BBC One Liners
1 Jan There’s a New Year Party at the Bull, and a moment of reflection for Elizabeth.
2 Jan Stella is taking the initiative, and Tracy wonders what’s up.
3 Jan What is Pip’s New Year’s Resolution? Susan wants to turn back the clock.
4 Jan Ruth and David get some advice, and can Vince make amends?
5 Jan Will a dinner party leave a bitter taste? Brian and Stella join forces.
6 Jan Elizabeth is caught in the middle, and Pip catches up with an old friend.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 1st – 6th January 2023
"Remember me! Remember me!" The ghost of Nigel Pargetter stalks the subconscious of many an Ambridger at this time of the year. The memory of his final scream, as he failed to get a grip on the Lower Loxley guttering, brings a tear to the eyes of his heirs, and a sense of unease to the Widow Pargetter. Is sausage-fingered Vince Casey really a worthy successor to the late Mr Snowy?
While these sad thoughts haunt the corridors of the Pargetters' stately pile, Ruth gets an unexpected call, Pip reaches out to an old friend and Susan wishes she could turn the clock back. Invitations to a number of events fly up and down Ambridge; yours are probably stuck in the post, so just rock up anyway.

I failed to get an RT when I went for some milk this arvo, so unless someone else has it to hand, that is what there is for next week.

We know that Elena is Ben's support worker, but I dont think Lottie has been mentioned on air.

Many thanks, Asking, and Happy New Year to one and all! I have managed to find some RT stuff for the next two weeks on Mustardland.

[This mostly looks to me like last week - this coming week has fallen through the cracks! Shock ]

Radio Times 7 - 13 January 2023
Expect a shake-up at the shop this week as one volunteer resigns and another resident aims to fill the gap. But who will land this coveted position? And more importantly, how will they fare with gossipy Susan and pernickety Jim? Speaking of the Prof, he's also left having to digest some shock news from Jazzer, who ends up asking a favour of his friend. But the fear is that Jim has bitten off more than he can chew. Over at Bridge Farm, Adam has a brainwave that he worries will raise eyebrows. Meanwhile, Kate is awaiting the arrival of a guest, Kirsty is kept on her toes and Alan deals with an unexpected development.

Happy New Year. Thanks for the spoilers.
Lottie is Pip's friend from primary school and she is married to a local farmer, and they have a daughter called Madison, who is about the same age as the Fat Fairchild

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/01/2023 14:50

Thanks Asking and Gasp0.

Alan deals with an unexpected development.

Whatsername (daughter)'s pregnancy? Imminent delivery? When did she and Crissiffur do the deed?

Thanks, yes, of course that is who Lottie is!

I thought she moved to Darrington a year ago after being in London since leaving primary school, so it doesn't sound entirely as if she is married to a local farmer: also she strongly implied that Madison had never seen an actual sheep.

Ah. Thanks @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

Wonder if Amy (I remembered!) will just turn up with the baby then.

ILoveShula · 01/01/2023 18:07

I must have got mixed up Asking. Thanks.

TottersBlankly · 06/01/2023 07:57

Just noticed this for the coming week:

Meanwhile, Kate is awaiting the arrival of a guest,

Please let it be one of her long lost children …

ILoveShula · 07/01/2023 10:24

I'm guessing that the shop volunteer will be Joy.
Might the Spiritual Home guest be someone from Joy's past?

TottersBlankly · 07/01/2023 10:32

Oh, I assumed the guest would be domestic rather than business!

ILoveShula · 07/01/2023 10:40

You might be right, Totters. I can't say I'd fancy staying in a yurt in January.

WhoppingBigBackside · 08/01/2023 19:34

@ILoveShula and @TottersBlankly did not guess correctly.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 08/01/2023 20:58

Sorry this is late: I was out yesterday, and forgot.

BBC One-Liners
8 Jan Kate is feeling apprehensive, and Jazzer needs a personal favour.
9 Jan Joy volunteers her skills, and Pat offers advice.
10 Jan Could Jim use a helping hand? A new face looks familiar.
11 Jan Justin gets community spirited, and has Alan been forgiven?
12 Jan Adam has an exciting idea, and yoga is very popular today.
13 Jan Kirsty looks forward to a cold dip, and will Susan’s gamble pay off?

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 8th – 13th January 2023
The New Year sets a swarm of bees buzzing around inside many an Ambridger's head. Jazzer sets things off when his unexpected news puts a bee in his Scottish bonnet. Off Jazzer goes in pursuit of Jim to ask the old boy for a favour, but Jim's not sure if he's up to the task.
Over at the shop, one of the volunteers resigns, adding to Jim's woes and causing another resident to get the idea that working alongside Jim and Susan is just the ticket for 2023.
Then before you know it, Adam - under his hygienic dairy-worker's snood - hatches a wheeze of his own over at Bridge Farm.
Meanwhile, Kirsty eagerly awaits the arrival of a guest, and it turns out that this guest also has an idea or two.

+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+

Looks as if Kate and Kirsty each expect a guest. Trouble is, there's only one newcomer expected, Erik. I wonder where he will end up staying.

TottersBlankly · 08/01/2023 23:07

But it was a domestic guest, @WhoppingBigBackside !Grin

WhoppingBigBackside · 09/01/2023 07:49

Thanks Asking. Erik will be staying in Jakob's cottage, but why is Kirsty eagerly awaiting a guest's arrival?
