Well, actually, it's a few hours after... Sorry. I was asleep in the sun.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 7th - 12th August 2022
Tracy's facing tense times at work, but taking out her frustrations on her team-mates? well, that's just not cricket. Chelsea is also feeling the strain over events both past and present, but Adil Shah's having a happier time of it, with Lilian offering support as well as a suggestion.
The summer fete beckons, but Justin is distracted by Ruby's welfare, and Freddie is reminded of the importance of second chances. Russ offers advice to someone in need, while Joy Horville remains content to listen - to just about everyone, it seems.
At Bridge Farm, Natasha finds it a struggle juggling business and babes. And it's a brave woman who questions Peggy's plans to celebrate the twins' arrival.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 7th - 12th August 2022
It can be tough in the field witnessing Tracy Horrobin giving her gallant but ageing cricket team a piece of her mind. Captain Bligh has always been Tracy's model when it comes to leadership skills, and recent troubles have done nothing to soften her. Mutinous mutterings are heard in the outfield and key players talk of jumping ship.
While Tracy looks in danger of losing some of her crew, La Snell is casting around the village seeking able-bodied volunteers for a new wheeze she has for the summer fete.
Meanwhile, over at Bridge Farm, where everyone's stretched to the limit, the news that Natasha's mother Caitlin may have to head back to Wales draws mixed reactions.

Er ....re tonight (8th): how can Pat have a revealing chat with Peggy when we've now been told that yesterday's omnibus was the last time we'd hear June Spencer?

Have I misunderstood somehow?

MuddlerInLaw · 08/08/2022 12:58

Presumably it will be a reported conversation - maybe between Pat and Tony (+? Natasha & Tom?).

Reported conversation. I'm not sorry to see the back of Peggy.

And we have this week's round-up in time for this evening.

BBC One-Liners
14 Aug Pat and Joy enjoy the festivities, and George feels affronted.
15 Aug Tracy is worried about Chelsea, and Pip hopes to help a friend with a dilemma.
16 Aug Does Toby have something to share? A Ray of hope for Tracy?
17 Aug George's plans leave a bad taste for Ed. Lilian cuts to the chase.
18 Aug Stella is making a splash, and is Joy making a new friend?
19 Aug What has got Will worried? Lynda is taking no prisoners.

Radio Times 14th - 19th August 2022
The upcoming village fete finds Lynda on a recruitment drive with Stella in her sights, while Will nervously prepares to display his wares. Over at the Stables, Lilian and Justin are also on the hunt for fresh talent, but how can they hope to find someone who will live up to Shula?
Natasha has too much on her plate to set up stall at the food festival, until a kind person steps in. Joy Horville makes a new friend and George Grundy has a new hobby, much to Ed's disapproval. Something's bugging Toby, and Tracy has her work cut out trying to solve a problem with a colleague, while also keeping her eye on Chelsea after a moment of madness.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 14th - 19th August 2022
The food festival will lure in outsiders this week, so if you're thinking of heading Borsetshire way, be very, very careful. Lynda's out scouring Ambridge for "volunteers" for the village fete, and the locals are looking for someone to blame for the recent outbreak of vandalism.
If you are foolish enough to cross the mighty Am, you won't be the only one needing to keep a low profile: Justin is trying to avoid his overbearing landlady, and bad boy George is skulking around, looking for some private space for his "new interest". If you still insist on this dangerous venture, it makes good sense, as ever, to avoid all Horrobins, especially after Chelsea's "moment of madness" and Tracy's continuing work woes.

Quia · 14/08/2022 08:31

Mick and Ray? Is Ray a colleague of Toby's with a potential job for Tracy?

Mick and Ray? Is Ray a colleague of Toby's with a potential job for Tracy?

Martin Barrass (Mick) was born on 22nd February 1956, and Mark Carey (Ray) on 5th February, 1962. They might be a bit old to be friends of Toby's? – I don't think he has colleagues exactly: he's a part-time barman.

Quia · 14/08/2022 09:34

I just wondered if he still has some involvement with Scruff gin or has some other venture being planned.

MuddlerInLaw · 14/08/2022 09:36

Won’t they be punters at the festival?

Thanks for spoilers!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/08/2022 09:42

Many thanks, Asking! I'd guess punters too.

No, he sold it completely to Shires Brewery on 17th November, 2020.

I think I too might go with punters, or possibly organisers, at the festival.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/08/2022 13:47

Thanks Asking

I wonder if Mick/Ray will be ageing boyband members targetted by Joy.

Madcats · 14/08/2022 14:09

Aside from the fact that it seems a bit odd to send your 70 year old mother in law off to a Festival with a passing acquaintance (when Adam works for them and Ian isn't especially busy either), I almost enjoyed the past week AND the spoilers sound promising!

I was staying somewhere rural last week and their broad bean crop looked in a sorry state (before the current hot weather). It must be tough being a farmer at the moment.

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/08/2022 14:23

Not to mention Combine Harvesters spontaneously combusting and fields of crops going up in flames - not all of it accidental. A big field fire locally is thought to have been deliberate.

MuddlerInLaw · 14/08/2022 14:24

Agree there’s no way on earth Natasha would have entrusted her festival stall to an inexperienced random like Joy. She could obviously have full confidence in Pat, who knows what she’s doing.

Pretty much anyone in the village would have more connection to rural food and drink production and sales than Joy. And Natasha is First Family! There isn’t a single Archer, Aldridge, or Pargetter who would have turned down the opportunity to help out if they were free.

Ridiculous s/l!

It's selling bottles or cartons of apple juice. Pretty much anyone on the planet over the age of say 15 could do that.

MuddlerInLaw · 14/08/2022 16:23

Well … We’re given to understand that Summer Orchard sells a fair amount already. I don’t think Natasha was excited about the festival just because she’d sell the product to a few hundred more people. It’s a publicity exercise, surely - an opportunity to raise her business profile to a whole new level. Who would take a chance on that? You’d send your best people.

But regardless, no doubt tonight we’ll hear Joy innocently and charmingly catapulting Summer Orchard to global fame!

WhoppingBigBackside · 14/08/2022 17:26

Thanks @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime ,
Didn't we have a Ray a week or two ago? Smile
Farmers are having to feed livestock on fodder that was for winter.

I'd be a bit wary of saying that crops were being set on fire.
Burning the stubble after harvesting was definitely a thing but I think it was stopped about 30 years ago.

Very little is still alive in my garden. There's a tiny corner in the shade and that's about it. Even shrubs look like they are dried out.

I think that Mick & Ray will be some Tyneside popsters from way back who Joy knows.

I'm assuming that M. Barrass is a stage surname.

polyhymnia · 14/08/2022 17:32

I was wondering why Adam hadn’t been drafted in to the festival. Seems the obvious candidate. Are he and Ian ‘on the road’ with the pizza van??

It's still just apple juice. There's a plethora of organic apple juices available. I doubt anyone would in reality pay the slightest attention to the specific brand. There's some in my fridge at the moment- I couldn't tell you , without going to look , what brand it is.

Gnasher's "business" always sounds so implausible anyway. I can't stand Gnasher.

Madcats · 15/08/2022 12:05

We have a long established Farmer's Market near us and one of the stalls sells single-variety apple juice (or rather it did pre-lockdown - I'm not sure I spotted it recently). Supermarket carton juice can't compete (but has its place).

I'm puzzled about Gnasher's business. When Tom was doing his Nuffield Scholarship I thought that Gnasher was a very successful past scholar. Nowadays the her business seems to be a small enterprise with a couple of staff. Weird.

MuddlerInLaw · 15/08/2022 12:21

Indeed!

Insufficient liaising between SWs?

MuddlerInLaw · 15/08/2022 12:24

But it is a bit of a soapy trope. Expensive suit arrives in shiny Porsche - six months later they’re sleeping on someone’s floor and flogging knock off goods daahn the market.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/08/2022 16:58

Here are next week's spoilers and information:

BBC One-Liners
21 Aug Who’s that, Will? It must be fete. Adil looks to the future.
22 Aug Jakob has an interesting theory, and Eddie is put on the spot.
23 Aug Ruairi is a wanted man, and Chelsea faces an unusual client.
24 Aug Brad only cares about results, and has Alistair missed a memo?
25 Aug Tracy is feeling nervous, and Ed needs a word with George.
26 Aug Is Ruairi ready for the honest truth? And do Oliver’s eyes deceive him?

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 21st - 26th August 2022
Finally, it's the week of the fete where Denise learns something that could throw all her plans - and Alistair's - up in the air, Adil's special skills cause a stir and Will tries to keep his eye on his pots, while someone else could have their eye on Will.
Can Oliver do anything to get out of Tracy's bad books? Ben is pleased when Ruairi makes time for friends, but he's still struggling with Ruairi's business arrangement with Julianne.
Brad's family are sitting it out waiting for his exam results, but George ruffles all kinds of feathers with his plans to move out, which leave Ed upset. What's George playing at, and what does Eddie have to do with it?

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 21st - 26th August 2022
Remember Alf Grundy, the no-good scrap dealer and thieving brother of Eddie? Well he seems to be back, at least in spirit. George Grundy is showing worrying signs of following in his great-uncle's crooked footsteps, coming up with a dodgy scheme that could take a turn for the dangerous.
Ruairi - who, as we know, has been beefing up his student grant with a lot of night work - also seems to be getting in too deep with his extracurricular activities.
Other unusual sidelines are on show at the fete, where Will sets up his pottery stall and appears to attract an admirer, while Adil, having already made jaws drop with his prowess at Scottish dancing, reveals yet another unexpected skill.

WhoppingBigBackside · 20/08/2022 17:28

Thanks Asking. Looks like Geordie Grungy has survived.
Will we have a celebrity at the fete? Might it be the mysterious person in a hat at the C**stravaganza as one of my fellow TA posters called it. Maybe they've brought in the Reverend Communard Coles to be dunked instead of Stella. Will there be joy for Joy or is her new pal taking the mick? Oh, she's not in the cast list but neither is Pip. Yipee!

Is Julianne going to be Oliver's daughter or something?
Whose hair might Chelsea be cutting?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/08/2022 17:55

Thanks, Asking! I was assuming Toyah would turn up as this year's token celebrity.
