Oh, I lost most of my post. Do Botcher is good at ‘force of nature’ type characters, which doesn’t bode well 😬

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/07/2022 13:43

I think we have been told tha is pretty-much what Caitlin is: didn't Tom say she was "very full on" or something of the sort?

WhoppingBigBackside · 22/07/2022 19:30

We predicted two girls and we weren't wrong.
Which one gets the blue cardigan and which one the pink?

I'm not getting good vibes about Gnasher's mother

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 24th - 29th July 2022
Get ready to adjust those Archer family trees as another member of the clan is about to be added. Yes, Natasha is set to have her C-section, but will all go to plan on the day? Meanwhile, another new arrival may end up causing more problems than she solves - but who will come to the rescue?
Elsewhere, Susan goes to extreme lengths to protect the reputation of a friend, only to discover that - surprise, surprise - she's got the wrong end of the stick. Chelsea continues to make her presence felt at Lower Loxley, but has the rug pulled from under her when she meets a new colleague. And Lily makes plans, while concern mounts about the attitude of one Ambridge resident....

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 24th - 29th July 2022
The Horrobins can trace their roots back to Anglo-Saxon Britain and it takes only a tiny stretch of the imagination to see Tracy, wielding a spear and shield, launching herself on a terrified Roman legion. Perhaps this is why work in the service industry hasn't proved an easy fit for Ambridge's Horrobin descendants. Tracy just about managed to button her lip in her Grey Gables days but Chelsea, waiting tables at Lower Loxley, has a harder job suppressing her inner warrior-queen. She'll have to make a valiant effort, though, when a determined rival enters the fray.
Susan's fighting spirit is also let loose when she leaps to protect a friend in a situation that, by the end of the week, takes a serious turn.

One or two things:
No Pat?
Only "an"other member of the clan seems wrong, since there are two baby girls to be added to the family tree.
What has Anglo-Saxon Britain got to do with a Roman legion? And come to that, when have we ever ben given any information about the Horrobin ancestry before Bert and Ivy? (Warrior-queen is British, particularly Iceni, not Anglo-Saxon: the Anglo Saxons didn't go in for warrior queens much. They tended to keep the women-folk at home to run everything and squabble with the neighbours while the men went off fighting.)

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 24/07/2022 13:25

I am rather hoping that "Chelsea has the rug pulled from under her" this evening means that during the picnic she gives Tracy £98 or £100 or however much it is for the pampering day in Borchester, and Tracy says thank you very much and then gives the money to Brad to pay for his summer school expenses.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 25/07/2022 12:25

Curses.

WhoppingBigBackside · 29/07/2022 23:19

I've got into an argument with someone on another thread, so I might be leaving. Some people will argue that brown is pink.
Keep up the good work Asking and my other TA addicts on here, and thank you for your spoilers and posts.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/07/2022 00:15

Oh don't go Whopping! Name change if you want to but just ignore them Flowers

MuddlerInLaw · 30/07/2022 01:48

Heavens, Whopping - people are after me with pitchforks all over MN, every day! (Reason for a million name changes.)

Don’t take it to heart - whoever you’re arguing with wouldn’t know you if they passed you in the street. Name change if that makes things easier. (If your antagonist doesn’t follow TA you could even keep your current name here and just use a different name everywhere else on MN.)

No need to leave because some random stranger is rude or wrong.

I've left a thread because I was the victim of a pile-on after a sensitive little flower decided to attack me for daring to disagree with her and a lot of people came to her "defence" -- I have never played nor wanted to play rugby football, least of all as the ball.

Doesn't mean you can't go to other threads, though. Please don't vanish.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 31st July - 5th August 2022
Adil Shah teams up with Oliver and Ray [sic. Asking] for a business event they hope will charm the locals. Relying on Ray's [sic. Asking] knowledge of Ambridge turns out not to be their best idea, but Adil gets a pleasant surprise with a gesture of support from an unexpected source.
Justin Elliott also has his business head on, until a worrying personal situation presents itself for him & Lilian. And Alice and Shula finally get to inspect the Stables makeover, although by now Shula may have her eye on a completely different kind of course.
Meanwhile, over at Bridge Farm, Peggy is hoping to mark the arrival of the twins in her own unique fashion, but will everyone be happy with her big plans?

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 31st July - 5th August 2022
The dark forces currently controlling Ambridge have it in for Oliver Sterling. They've sent his business up in smoke, turned pretty much everyone in the village against him and got Tracy Horrobin reaching for her pitchfork. Even when Oliver tries to do the right thing, it all goes horribly wrong. This week he will, yet again, put his hand in his pocket to help someone out. Will his kindness heal old wounds or make matters worse?
Adil tries, once more to get in the villagers' good books; this time, though, he may have a powerful ally on his side.
Meanwhile, Peggy, an expert at coming up with well-intentioned schemes that backfire, has another of her wheezes.

======================================
I do sincerely hope that Adil will not be relying on the horrible temporary manager employed to look after Grey Gables when Caroline and Oliver went on holiday in 2013.

And it looks as if Oliver is going to try to help Brad by stumping up the money to pay for him to go to his summer school. Pity Brad told them he wasn't coming and therefore wouldn't need his scholarship, isn't it.

Oh, and can the unexpected source/powerful ally be Lynda, she having finally got over her pointless and baseless prejudice against Adil after seeing what is actually being planned for GG? Or is it Lilian?

ILoveShula · 30/07/2022 15:17

Thanks Asking
I'm not with you on the Ray character. I think it's the mystery owner and will be a celebrity cameo by none other than .... Dirty old river must you keep rolling... tra la la lolollola... Terry meets Julie.... Oops getting carried away, it will be a random scottish hotel chain laird Ray O'Sunshine Ap Dandruff from Llanelli, East Lothian.

I see that Mrs Dylan Geraint Thomas from Capel Curig in the Valleys is still with us, no doubt baking up a fresh batch of lava bread and picking daffodils ready to go and su lwli Pinky-Astra and Perky-Nova Vauxhall-Opel Archer.

Whe-hey! Maharachi band time! Dig out the pinata and margaritas.

Dunno why I'm getting carried away. No doubt it will be as dull as Amwater.

Looking fwd to hearing Peggy, She's the star of the show and I love her more than Hildarogden.

** I know it's laver and it's not baked.

Many thanks, Asking! (Belated thanks for last week's as well. I've got right out of synch lately.)

TherapistInATabard · 01/08/2022 17:12

Ah, tomorrow Helen is going to be ‘protective of her boys’. Will that be a church window shaped hissy fit?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 01/08/2022 17:52

Oh, I do hope. It's either that or she is trying to shield them from Caitlin.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/08/2022 22:30

Oh yes! There must be Windows For All! Grin

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 06/08/2022 19:22

It's that time of the week again.

Well, actually, it's a few hours after... Sorry. I was asleep in the sun.

BBC One-Liners

8 Aug Pat has a revealing chat with Peggy and Jazzer wants to help.
9 Aug Chelsea feels fiercely protective. Natasha suffers a set back.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 7th - 12th August 2022
Tracy's facing tense times at work, but taking out her frustrations on her team-mates? well, that's just not cricket. Chelsea is also feeling the strain over events both past and present, but Adil Shah's having a happier time of it, with Lilian offering support as well as a suggestion.
The summer fete beckons, but Justin is distracted by Ruby's welfare, and Freddie is reminded of the importance of second chances. Russ offers advice to someone in need, while Joy Horville remains content to listen - to just about everyone, it seems.
At Bridge Farm, Natasha finds it a struggle juggling business and babes. And it's a brave woman who questions Peggy's plans to celebrate the twins' arrival.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 7th - 12th August 2022
It can be tough in the field witnessing Tracy Horrobin giving her gallant but ageing cricket team a piece of her mind. Captain Bligh has always been Tracy's model when it comes to leadership skills, and recent troubles have done nothing to soften her. Mutinous mutterings are heard in the outfield and key players talk of jumping ship.
While Tracy looks in danger of losing some of her crew, La Snell is casting around the village seeking able-bodied volunteers for a new wheeze she has for the summer fete.
Meanwhile, over at Bridge Farm, where everyone's stretched to the limit, the news that Natasha's mother Caitlin may have to head back to Wales draws mixed reactions.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/08/2022 19:41

Thanks Asking. I see Joy's back, which I'm quite pleased about.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/08/2022 22:11

Thanks, Asking! I'm pleased we'll hear more of Russ. Very well acted character, nice distinctive voice and delivery. The character is obviously awful, but I enjoy listening to him.

Thanks Asking. At least it looks like we are spared the ghastly Caitlin. I feel like complaining to the beeb for their portrayal of the welsh on TA, but I'd only be fobbed off.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/08/2022 19:41

Thanks Asking. I see Joy's back, which I'm quite pleased about.

Yes I like Joy. I feared she had been silently evicted from Ambridge without us ever getting an explanation why she was there in the first place.

MuddlerInLaw · 08/08/2022 08:00

Thanks Asking!

Was going to post this on the main thread - but there’s a tiny spoiler about tonight and I can’t be certain it won’t be more than chat:

www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2022/aug/08/the-archers-actor-june-spencer-103-retires-after-more-than-70-years?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

Madcats · 08/08/2022 08:10

It has felt to me as if the SW's have been writing as if it might be June's last episode for some time now.

That's the only explanation I can think of for the weird "I want a stained glass window" for the new (healthy) twins and not John Archer.

I wonder how they will write her out? I don't think she will be speaking any more.

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/08/2022 08:59

R4 Today just said June had been asking to be written out for the last year but they kept asking her back to do a bit more.

And who will get custody of Hilda Ogden? Kate? Joy? Cats' Protection Society?

The 🔮 says it knows (of course!) but has chosen not to divulge

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/08/2022 09:00

Wrong thread. Never mind Grin
