And todays:
Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update Feb 9-14
Back in the day when Shula was a loose filly, Caroline still walked the Borsetshire earth and Lillian was unfettered, the horses of Ambridge got a thorough work-out. From dawn until sunset, Ambridge steeds would be galloped up and down Lakey Hill, in full pursuit of any male who had blundered over the mighty Am.
But those days are long gone and the horses of Ambridge grow fat. While Jakob and Alistair do what they can for the roly-poly ponies, Freddie and Ben do what they can to bring some of that wild spirit back - but are thwarted.
But perhaps all is not lost? That Emma, known to be a bit of a bolter, seems to be in pursuit of a recent recruit to the Ambridge herd.

SurpriseSparDay · 09/02/2020 01:29

Oooh! But who? Isn’t Jakob the only new - OMG ... GavinShockShockShock

Nooooooo !

Step away, Emma. Look how pretty Ed is. And all hapless and helpless. He neeeeeeeds you.

Grin

(Many thanks!)

MikeUniformMike · 09/02/2020 13:53

Maybe Johnny and Emmur are seeing each other?
Mianjohnny doesn't sound right.

SurpriseSparDay · 09/02/2020 13:56

Johnny isn’t a ‘recent recruit to Ambridge’, though ...

And anyway. No way would Emma be interested in him.

MikeUniformMike · 09/02/2020 19:03

Miangav has a nice ring to it.
Maybe he could build her a house.
I don't want Gav to stay - his dodgy accent grates.

Madcats · 10/02/2020 20:05

Thanks Asking.

The horses are getting fat because everybody seems to have given up hunting and shooting. Presumably the current SWs know even less about hunting than they do about employment law, planning regs, rewilding and country living.

More up on Next on:

13 Feb Jakob’s behaviour causes concern and David has a change of heart.
14 Feb Freddie makes a worrying discovery and Alistair offers some advice.
16 Feb Johnny’s emotions get the better of him and Lynda stirs up trouble
17 Feb There’s a surprise for Kate and Ben makes his feelings known
18 Feb Ed faces an awkward encounter and Shula admits responsibility
19 Feb Lynda takes drastic action and Josh struggles with recent events
20 Feb There’s a shock for Lilian and Philip is put in a difficult position
21 Feb Josh attempts to do the right thing and Jim has something on his mind
23 Feb There’s a tempting offer for Freddie and Kate considers her options
24 Feb Jim is left stunned by some life changing news and Tracy shows her support
25 Feb Jim struggles to take in recent events and Oliver has a dilemma on his hands
26 Feb It’s an emotional day for Shula and Helen offers the benefit of experience
27 Feb Roy questions himself and Jakob makes his feelings clear
28 Feb Lilian loses her cool and Oliver attempts to do the right thing.

Let's hope Kate's surprise is that she's not pregnant, and Lilian's shock is caused by The Bull's pub sign being resurrected. Can't think what could be happening with Jim - maybe Whatsit left him everything in his will in remorse?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/02/2020 14:50

Thanks, Equanimitas! The only thing that comes to mind for Jim is what you suggest. Oh dear.

MikeUniformMike · 11/02/2020 21:00

Only a shock for Lynda.

Motoko · 12/02/2020 16:14

Yes, that's the only thing I can think of, regarding Jim. Harold did turn up for Jim's party.

I hope Kate's surprise is her period, but going by the "considering her options", I'm wondering if Jakob either dumps her, or says she should have an abortion, as he doesn't want to be a father. So if she keeps it, she'll be doing it on her own.

Motoko · 12/02/2020 16:19

Just to clarify, Jacob gives her an ultimatum, it's either him or the baby, she has to choose.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 16th - 21st February
Lynda and Lilian have a long history of needling each other, but it’s about to morph into open warfare. Lynda has become a thorn in the side of the staff at the B at Ambridge, but when her latest scheme proves ineffectual, she takes drastic action that quickly gains her attention. But will Lynda come out on top in the resulting clash with Lilian?
Emma and Gavin continue to grow close, but Ed finds himself in an awkward position when he inadvertently gets involved. Despite wise counsel from Jazzer, Ed is set to find Emma’s new situation difficult to deal with.
Finally, Kate returns from her course and, naturally, brings drama back home with her. As she and Jakob make plans, Kate makes an admission that could change everything.

MikeUniformMike · 13/02/2020 20:58

Thanks Asking.
Kate planned it or is she not in (Ja)kub?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/02/2020 12:43

And today's From The Papers:

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 16-21 Feb
Lynda and Lilian are now openly at war about renaming The Bull, and the village quails at the sound of two alpha females on the rampage.
This will be a week of many rows. Freddy confronts Johnny, Ben has a go at Josh, and Kate - despite all her chamomile tea and chanting - returns from her course, finds what’s been going on, and releases her inner she-dragon.
As these storms rage, Ed mopes around, trying to cope with the Emma/Gavin situation and, in an attempt to solve Philip’s labour problems, Kirsty makes matters worse.
Meanwhile, little Xander at his naming ceremony, must wonder how soon he can master the art of walking - and make a break for it.

MikeUniformMike · 15/02/2020 14:28

Thanks Asking.

Madcats · 19/02/2020 11:11

What do you reckon is going on with 24/25 February episodes in which Jim will be "stunned by life changing news". Could it be:
Illness (I hope not, I like Jim)
Bequest from Howard (possible)
Hoard of treasure in the garden (improbable)
Jazzer moving out (again, I hope not)

Motoko · 19/02/2020 12:23

Bequest from Howard. A very large one.

SurpriseSparDay · 19/02/2020 16:23

Looks like it ...

GreenOranges · 20/02/2020 02:14

I'm hoping it's not Alister dying. That would be life changing. And Shula struggles 2 days later.

MikeUniformMike · 20/02/2020 21:27

They can't ded Alistair.

JudyCoolibar · 21/02/2020 23:58

After tonight's episode, I fear that it will be Howard's other victim who is dead.

SurpriseSparDay · 22/02/2020 00:59
  • And has left Jim a fortune?
Motoko · 22/02/2020 07:46

But he mentioned having a family. Would seem odd to leave his money to a virtual stranger instead of them, and it would have to come out why he'd left the money to Jim. He said he hadn't told them what happened, so it seems unlikely.
It would possibly be about now that Howard's estate is going through probate.

SurpriseSparDay · 22/02/2020 07:58

Oh - I’d forgotten he had a family.

SurpriseSparDay · 22/02/2020 08:10

‘Life changing news‘ can only be money or terminal illness, surely? Stunned and struggled don’t suggest good news. So if money it would come with overriding conflict or reluctance. If terminal illness - Jim would surely be fairly stoical over any illness of his own - so Alistair or Fiona? (Jazzer being ill wouldn’t be primarily all about Jim.)

I still think there’s a possibility Fiona might be moving to Ambridge - but that wouldn’t be teased in such portentous terms.
