Radio Times Ambridge Diary 8th-13th December
As grown men, you’d have thought Ed and Will would be able to bake mince pies. But the kitchen is soon looking a mess, and when Eddie calls his sons away on important Grundy World of Christmas business, Clarrie has to pick up the pieces. Until a surprise visitor saves the day …
There are further unexpected events at Bridge Farm, where Helen gets a welcome shock. As old feelings rise to the surface, she makes a bold gesture that she hopes will be reciprocated.
And if it’s tension you’re after, tempers are fraying on the Grey Gables reception desk as Lynda grows increasingly exasperated with a loved-up Tracy, who keeps on receiving mystery phone calls.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update Dec 8-13
Watch out - Pat’s cooking one of her special stews. Remember that vegetable slop she served up to the homeless of Borchester, sending them running back to the streets with their hands clamped to their mouths? Stay well away from her kitchen until the miasma dies down.
In fact,it’s best to steer clear of most Ambridge kitchens this week as Ed and Will cook up a storm making mince pies for the Grundy World of Christmas. It’s amazing just how far pastry can go.
Meanwhile, pots bang and plates crash over in the Grey Gables kitchens as a perked-up Tracy sends everyone up the wall.
Elsewhere, Helen gets all stirred up, Neil and Hannah boil over, and there’s a big plate of trouble for the rewilders.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/12/2019 17:03

Incidentally, I am not sure what

Lee Bryce: Ryan Early

may have done to deserve not being put into last week's cast list, but he ought to be in it; and I have a nasty feeling that the poor man is also going to turn up this week, if Helen making a bold gesture means what I fear it may do.

Run, Lee, Run! She set up a date with you and then she would have stood you up if Kirsty hadn't thrown her out of the car; you can do better than Helen.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/12/2019 17:20

Thanks, Asking! I'm sure you're right about Lee. Oh dear.

Emma = welcome visitor come to help with the mince pies?

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/12/2019 17:26

Thanks Asking

Yes, it's looking like a 'Love Actually' Christmas for Hell and Lee.

Also looks like Neil's going to be vindicated over his stance on pigfeed - 'tragic discovery' surely = dead pig/s? Hope Hannah is about to get her comeuppance.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/12/2019 17:31

Presumably not a dead Hannah ...

SurpriseSparDay · 07/12/2019 17:40

Ooooh - I’d like that!

Thanks for all spoilers!

Motoko · 07/12/2019 17:49

Thanks Asking.

Oh god, Hannah. I do hope she gets fired and we never have to hear from her again.

From the write up, it does look like Emma and Clarrie will be making the mince pies again this year, after Clarrie lamenting that she'll miss it this year.

It also looks like Lee will be back. I didn't want him to get back with Helen, she's not ready for a relationship. Lee deserves a nice, steady woman. And what's Helen going to tell Pat? Is she going to keep him a secret from her still? Is she going to continue to use Kirsty as an alibi? You'd think she was having an extra-marital affair, the way she's carrying on.

Has the actress who plays Gnasher left? She hasn't been heard from since the wedding, has she? July, wasn't it? Not that I liked her (she annoyed me too), but she's married to one of the main characters, so you'd have thought she'd have had at least a few lines, here and there.

Motoko · 07/12/2019 17:51

Presumably not a dead Hannah ...

Ooh, yes! The pigs got hungry and ate her. Now that's a storyline I'd enjoy!

Madcats · 11/12/2019 15:30

"Magic Time" must have prompted the actors and production staff to spray their coffee across the room at the first read through!

Some of these writers must have had rather strange upbringings. Poor Lynda and Robert with such character shifts.

I've never really recovered from the Sid/Jolene shower scene.

BBC Sounds sneaked in the dreadful 'Jill makes mince pies' episode into my catchup. What on earth was the point of that? That sounded like a very strange way to mix and make mince pies. Surely somebody could have brought in some proper kit and more convincing 'ingredients'. Was she talking to Leonard or was it supposed to be Ben?

Madcats · 11/12/2019 16:10

Apologies- that should have been on the main Archers thread.

To redeem myself I bought the Xmas Radio Times.

Jim's stories are going to be on for 3 x 15 minute episodes on 30/12, 31/12 and 1/1 at 6:15pm.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/12/2019 10:55

Delayed again; yesterday was rather a long day and I didn't have time for anything much.

One-line BBC spoilers
15 Dec Lilian attempts to keep the peace and Helen issues an invitation.
16 Dec There’s trouble at Brookfield and Tracy digs her heels in.
17 Dec Helen braces herself for a difficult conversation and Lynda makes her presence felt.
18 Dec Phoebe tries to make amends and Brian issues some home truths.
19 Dec Tom discovers some worrying information and there’s an early Christmas present for Kirsty.
20 Dec The noose tightens on David and Will has a confession to make.

SurpriseSparDay · 13/12/2019 11:01

Police?!

Xmas Shock

(Thanks!)

Equanimitas · 13/12/2019 11:59

Glad to hear about things going tits-up for the rewilders - let's hope this is the end of that ridiculous storyline and Phoebe gets a high-powered job on the back of that degree they all seem to have virtually forgotten about.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/12/2019 12:08

Thanks, Asking! More debt from Natasha, or is Tom's worrying discovery more of a police matter? I see she gets her voice back at last.

More and more I think Spar will get Mystic of the Year award for correctly predicting months ago that Philip is going to pop his clogs at Christmas. (It was Spar, wasn't it?) There's so much emphasis on how much he loves this time of the year. Ominous.

SurpriseSparDay · 13/12/2019 12:29

OTOH I’m gearing up for a sort-of-reprise of the epic Jenny v Brian / Debbie v Simon end of year celebrations ...

This Christmas will be too soon (if they build Joy up as gradually as I hope to her goat stew moment) but I’m seeing the Bridge Farm marriage crumble at exactly the moment they’re all being fitted for Lee and Helen’s wedding. Kirsty to the rescue!

Joy is scarier than any of Jim’s stories ...

Madcats · 13/12/2019 12:37

In no way do I want to muscle in on Asking's brilliant spoiler service but I've bought the Christmas Radio Times:

One-line BBC Spoilers
22 Dec Rex gets an answer, meanwhile Kenton has another sleepless night
23 Dec It's Jim's big night and Jazzer comes to the rescue
24 Dec Tom gets suspicious and Joy makes a guest appearance
25 Dec Tom puts his foot in it
26 Dec There is upheaval at The Bull
27 Dec There is a shock in store for Philip
29 Dec There is trouble at Grey Gables and Pip has got to make her mind up
30 Dec Lee gets a lesson in farming
31 Dec It's New Year's Eve at The Bull and Helen is dressed to impress
1 Jan Kenton despairs and Jim is feeling green
2 Jan Kirsty speaks her mind. Phoebe is feeling low
3 Jan Jazzer gets some shocking news and faces a dilemma.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/12/2019 12:49

You aren't at all muscling in, Madcats. I have the one-liners and cast-lists to3rd January but I'm deliberately doing only doing one week at a time so that I'm not adding bits here and there all the time. I get those off the BBC website, and for ages the one-liner for 25th December was missing, for instance.

I have slightly different ones for 25th, 26th and 27th December, too. Maybe the RT doesn't get the same feed as the BBC website!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/12/2019 12:57

27/12 - defibrillator? Sad

Thanks, Madcats!

Madcats · 13/12/2019 12:58

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/12/2019 13:03

Angus Shrimpton? Hmm

MikeUniformMike · 13/12/2019 13:27

Why are the names odd? Roman Trench, Karate instructor Bryce Lee.
Angus Shrimpton.

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/12/2019 13:28

Thanks Asking and Madcats

Looks like Tash has a run-in with the police for some reason and Tom possibly discovers her profligate ways.

Kirsty is upduffed and yes, looks like Philip has a heart attack/cardiac arrest but survives

As for Angus Shrimpton, I'm with Gasp0 - Xmas Hmm

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/12/2019 18:38

Shall I go on giving them a week in advance, with the cast, writers and other credits divided by the week rather than the fortnight? Or is it not worth my doing that?

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/12/2019 19:38

Any way you want to do it is fine by me Asking. Must admit, I do like the weekly cast list etc.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/12/2019 19:49

Then I will carry on -- so long as my duplicating information, which I won't be able to help doing, isn't just going to be boring.
