Oh dear. I just Googled "Roman Trench" and had a 'hit' on Urban Dictionary.

I had high hopes for the "Lily finds a photo" storyline - unless it was CMR with Johnnie's girlfriend, that plot line will be dull and painful to endure.

Motoko · 16/11/2019 14:53

Thanks Asking.

I guess Leonard's "foe" is David, especially if Jill's talking about marrying him. David's being really jealous and possessive about his mum. He doesn't care that Leonard is making her very happy, he just wants her to exclusively spend time on his family, doing the housework and cooking.
If they do get married, I'd like her to move into Leonard's house, so she's not at their beck and call. She's not going to be around forever, so they may as well get used to running the house, like any other farming family.

Madcats · 16/11/2019 16:13

Funnily enough, there is a piece in a local(ish) newspaper about a proposal to rewild a golf course:
www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/closed-portishead-golf-course-allowed-3534492?fbclid=IwAR1FgsQZdOGGrBy1af1N4_IB0gpAWDeZoHmBImJEwSjCJjOvINSgNNHFFsQ

Does Borchester Land still own the golf course?

Will anybody dare to mention to Phoebe that she ought to get a job?

MissBarbary · 17/11/2019 16:24

Will anybody dare to mention to Phoebe that she ought to get a job?

Yes, what is (a) she living on and (b) what does she do all day?

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 24th-29nd November
The Ambridge pre-Christmas traditions that we all know and love are in full flow this week. First, there’s Stir-Up Sunday, and Leonard has prepared something special for the occasion. Pip thinks it’s a perfect idea, but will Jill like it?
Elsewhere, Elizabeth’s working hard to make her Ghost Stories night a success, but rehearsals get off to a bumpy start when Jim arrives late to meet his new director.
There are tensions at Grey Gables too, when Dimitrios’s leaving do turns into a rowdy night and Lynda finds herself in hot water.
Plus Lily has a lot on her mind in the aftermath of her fight with Johnny. Will she be able to put things right?

MikeUniformMike · 21/11/2019 18:11

Thanks Asking. Engagement ring in the christmas pudding?

Motoko · 21/11/2019 19:28

Thanks Asking.

Yeah, I think you might be right MUM.

Looks like Jonny finds out that Bella is cheating on him.

So, the mystery of who Roman Trench is, has been solved in tonight's episode.

MikeUniformMike · 21/11/2019 19:32

Just when I'd given up on Roman, he turns up.
I hope that Bella's beau is CMR.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update Nov 24-29
Stir-up Sunday looms large in Jill’s calendar. The prayer book urges the faithful to get stirred up for this last Sunday before advent, while Jill always falls to making industrial quantities of Christmas pudding. This year, however, Leonard throws something new into the mix.
A chance encounter gets Helen stirred up, reviving memories and threatening emotional turmoil over the coming weeks, while Lily and Johnny, having got a bit overwrought, try to smooth things over.
Tracy gets everyone geed up at Grey Gables, organising a leaving bash for Dimitrios - though most are racking our brains trying to remember who he is.
Over at Lower Loxley, Elizabeth continues with her ghostly plans - but things get off to a bumpy start.

Oops, sorry; I missed seeing this page before I replied.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/11/2019 22:23

I was in the ordinary Archers thread when I replied to a post there, really I was. I've no idea how my posts ended up here. Sorry, sorry.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/11/2019 22:23

Even more mystery; my posts seem to have moved again. Does Mumsnet often jump about?

It's the mysterious influence of my 🔮, Asking Grin

SurpriseSparDay · 28/11/2019 00:01

Thanks for spoilers!

I see the Editor has been doubling up as Director this week.

I’m saying nothing ...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/11/2019 08:39

As SW as well? That would explain a lot. [cross] Sad

I wonder what Harrison's going to be criticised for this evening.

SurpriseSparDay · 28/11/2019 08:42

No, not writing, just editing and directing.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/11/2019 08:50

Thanks, Spar, I wasn't being entirely serious there. (Hope your headache has cleared now.) I wonder if the SWs, like the actors, have to take the view that no matter how dreadful the storylines agreed might be, they have to earn a living so they just close their minds to it and get on with the job. The SWs, unlike the actors, attend the periodic planning meetings, so in theory can influence the direction of the storylines, but there's been so much churn recently that they are probably currently being assigned storylines they had no input into. In fact a conspiracy theorist might almost speculate that outgoing SWs and Editors have pushed things in a direction that makes it impossible for their replacements to do a good job. Good job I'm not a conspiracy theorist ...

SurpriseSparDay · 28/11/2019 08:53

Indeed ...

(Better thanks!)

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 1st-6th December
Lynda has been insisting that last year’s Christmas production was her swan song. But I’ve been fully expecting a scene where she finds it impossible to resist involving herself. Now that moment has come as Elizabeth is under pressure from her star turn and asks Lynda for support …
After last week’s blast from the past, Helen is worrying about repeating old mistakes, but Kirsty encourages her to take the bull by the horns.
Mia is insistent that Will attend a fun day event for bereaved children, but fears the worst when Andrew turns up. Plus Josh faces the wrath of a relative at Brookfield, and Ruth feels disappointed with her son.

Motoko · 29/11/2019 10:44

Thanks Asking.

Well Josh facing the wrath of a relative, is obviously going to be about him kissing Bella.

I mentioned on the other thread about Lee turning up, and wondered if Kirsty was going to persuade Helen to contact him and try again, so it looks like that's what's going to happen there. Otherwise, why bring Lee back for just a couple of minutes? I do hope she doesn't mess him around this time.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 29/11/2019 14:13

Why does Kirsty pimp Helen? She was the one who gave Helen's phone number to Leon after Helen had said she didn't want him to have it, and now she's hell-bent on getting Lee and Helen together again. What is wrong with her for godssake?

Motoko · 29/11/2019 14:53

She's might be one of those people who thinks single people need a partner, and Helen's been single for long enough in her eyes.

But Helen does moan about how she'll never be able to have a relationship again, so it does seem that Helen would like to have one, but just thinks she's too damaged after Rob. So maybe Kirsty's just giving her a shove. She could be fed up of Helen's "woe is me, I'll forever be lonely and single" moaning.

Beveren · 30/11/2019 14:58

So Josh is once again in trouble whilst David and Rooth no doubt wax lyrical about the golden child's utter brilliance because the rewilding scheme is going ahead. Same old, same old.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update Dec 1-6
That minx Tracy, by the way she’s carrying on, may have got the wrong end of the stick about this ‘rewilding’ talk. Her behaviour draws many a disapproving glance, though some of us are always cheered by the sight of a Horrobin in full cry.
While Tracy sets tongues wagging, Helen lets her thoughts drift from ‘cheesy’ matters, and ponders on last week’s blast from the past. Could romance, after all she’s been through, come her way for Christmas? How cheesy would that be?
Christmas in Lower Loxley presents its own problems as Jim, once a reluctant star, turns into a bit of a diva, forcing Elizabeth to turn to Lynda for help.

SurpriseSparDay · 03/12/2019 06:35

There’s an article (Monday) on this week’s SW, Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti, in the Guardian. Have posted a link on the main thread.
