She wouldn’t be going to Freshers week, surely?

I’m awfully afraid that Lily returning to Manchester is too much to hope for. The SWs absolutely, definitely have some sort of rolled up trouser leg, funny handshake and a wink pact to deny Ambridge women any decent education away from home. On the rare occasions when they’re allowed out everything eventually comes crashing down and drags them back to Ambridge. (Peggy’s half mil. is just another Felpersham Uni ...)

MollyButton · 17/09/2019 09:05

Well the ads for Freshers bands seem to be aimed at all years.

MikeUniformMike · 17/09/2019 09:07

Maybe it is Lexi who leaves? Joe?
Pip (please)?

Madcats · 17/09/2019 09:51

If it IS Lily (I still think it will be something trivial), it would be good if she and Phoebe could have a chat and have Lily point out that Lower Loxley has rather a lot of farm land that could be ripe for rewilding (unless it got sold after Nigel died - I don't think it did). The Pargetters could do with some cash while they get the place back on its feet.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 17/09/2019 20:21

Alas, Elizabeth knocked that one on the head tonight.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary Sep 22-27
Lexi goes into labour, so it’s panic stations for the Aldridge clan. But while Adam and Ian are full of nervous excitement, another member of the family can’t help but feel anxious. Will events go to plan as Lexi finds things getting increasingly fraught?
We also have potential scandal at the Flower and Produce Show as Jill fears that Leonard’s masterplan is actually a huge mistake that will end up having major ramifications.
Lilian finds herself charmed when she’s invited out to dinner by Vince Casey - but does he have an ulterior motive for wining and dining her?
And Clarrie and Eddie fear for Will’s mental health and race against the clock to halt his return to gamekeeping.

Who is Daniel Thurman? We have had fifteen different script writers so far this year....

And why in the name of whatever is Vince Casey (the owner of a slaughterhouse) even remotely interested in Lilian Bellamy (a septuagenarian who runs a glorified estate agent's business)? Or in Ambridge? Does his turning up in Ambridge and in her orbit mean he is in touch with Justin, who is planning to take over Crowthers' abattoir?

Motoko · 19/09/2019 18:55

Thanks Asking.

Hmm, Lexi, is she going to say she wants to keep the baby?

Of course Lil will be charmed by Vince, he'll remind her of Matt, she likes a bit of rough, but I've no idea why he's interested in her. Is it to do with Justin? He won't want Justin reopening Crowther's.

MikeUniformMike · 19/09/2019 19:42

Who is Brett? Why all the new characters.
What's happened to TA?

Thanks Asking.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/09/2019 20:22

Might Brett be something to do with Lexi? Doctor, midwife, boyfriend?

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/09/2019 20:48

Brett might be someone Lily has met at the call centre?

Thanks Asking

MikeUniformMike · 19/09/2019 20:53

I like that idea.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/09/2019 22:16

Sargon Yelda must be about the age she likes them: twice her own or more.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/09/2019 09:20

What a fine name - Sargon Yelda! I am vaguely aware of Sargon of Akkad, had no idea it was a name still in use.

Thanks, Asking!

15 SWs this year! Shock That is not a good thing. We need stability, not constant change. There's enough of that IRL at the moment, surely.

QuaterMiss · 20/09/2019 09:30

Thank you, Asking.

I have googled. And am now very much looking forward to the introduction of Brett to Archerland ... (Although, lacking a surname, it seems unlikely he’ll be around for long.)

Motoko · 20/09/2019 10:57

15 SW? No wonder the characters keep doing things that are out of character.

Why can't they (whoever's in charge) keep any SW?

TherapistInATabard · 20/09/2019 12:45

For some reason I keep hearing the name 'Brett' said with a Northern Irish accent - does he work in the GG kitchen?

I haven't missed Lillian at all!

HorseradishSnowflake · 23/09/2019 22:13

What is Lexi's confession? She talked about letting Adam and Ian down tonight, and making a mistake. It's surely more than just being about having Kirsty present. Could the baby is actually be Roys?! Is that possible?

Motoko · 24/09/2019 01:38

Or that she decides to keep the baby?

HorseradishSnowflake · 24/09/2019 07:36

Yes, I just think that might be too obvious, that we're all expecting that.

Madcats · 24/09/2019 09:54

Lexi's "confession" is probably something inconsequential like never having liked Kirsty's rug. I am invariably disappointed by the dramatic spoiler/one-liners when they come to fruition.

Odd that they haven't added a mid-wife/health visitor to the cast. I used to like Amy

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/09/2019 09:59

Madcats, Brett was the midwife, but I doubt we'll be hearing from him again unless he and Lexi have a heart to heart while she's on the postnatal ward (implausibly - I never saw the midwives I had in labour again).

Madcats · 24/09/2019 12:31

Yes Brett was delivery midwife, but I had another midwife pitch up at home for several days before handing us over to the Health Visitor. I remember it because she never managed to turn up at the arranged time (think how much sighing Adam could do).

Perhaps they don't do that any more.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/09/2019 18:32

Community midwife? Ours was wonderful. She assumed I would be in and just turned up when she got to that point in her rounds. This is probably a sensible way of going about things. Postnatal mothers should be resting as much as possible and it's best for the baby not to go out in public too much being exposed to other people's germs, so home is often going to be the best place for a while.

I remember when my son was born (second child) our community midwife said when she went to see mothers who'd just had their first child they talked nonstop about the baby. Second time mothers talked about the effect on the first child. Third+ time mothers said 'The baby? Oh yes, the baby ...' I liked that. Exactly how we felt. Relaxed about the new baby, a lot more concerned about our toddler.

Motoko · 24/09/2019 19:39

I don't even remember the midwife coming round, after my third baby, let alone what I talked about to her!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 25/09/2019 14:24

After the first time I had a Health Visitor rather than a midwife, I think. She checked up on me once, said I was fine and would I mind if she didn't come again unless I rang up and asked for her to come because she had several new mums in her area who needed a lot of help just then, and left me the number to call.

I can't see that Adam and Ian ought to need a midwife: neither of them has recently given birth.
