Yes, of course, but I meant the Ambridge born and bred women.

Ghostontoast · 05/09/2019 12:36

Shula didn’t go to university, but still it would have been nice if she had have enjoyed professional career.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/09/2019 12:49

Shula completed her exams, I thought, albeit with a few re-takes along the way - wasn't she a chartered surveyor? She worked for Rodway's for years as a professional of some kind, including being the land agent for the estate for several years. She also then slogged away to get some sort of horse-related qualification so she could run the stables and give riding lessons (related to getting insurance/membership of a trade body?).

I always thought it was a shame that Susan didn't go off and do a course at Borchester Tech or similar. She'd have done well on a vocational course. She took to running the Post Office and mastering the IT aspects/paperwork like a duck to water. Would have set a great example for Emma too.

MikeUniformMike · 05/09/2019 13:30

I don't think Shula was a chartered surveyor, I think she might have been a land agent. Leonard is a retired chartered surveyor.

Tonnerre · 05/09/2019 13:44

Loving Kate's CSE in Entitlement Studies!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/09/2019 15:10

Thursday has come around again, somewhat to my surprise since I was expecting the world to end on Tuesday for some reason I can't put my finger on....

One-line BBC spoilers
08 Sep There is tension at the Parish Council meeting and Freddie’s confidence is knocked.
09 Sep Jennifer finds herself out in the cold and Kirsty’s new neighbour causes a stir.
10 Sep Jim springs more than one surprise and Tracy comes to the rescue.
11 Sep Leonard hatches a plan, and Pip is not impressed.
12 Sep David makes an enemy, and Elizabeth finds herself backed into a corner.
13 Sep Will puts his foot down, and Kate’s frustrations grow.

(NB: 8th is Sunday: what are they doing having a Parish Council meeting on a Sunday? Is this usual?)

Radio Times 7 - 13 September 2019
If anything is going to act as a trigger for Emma, then it's a litany of complaints from one of Beechwood's new residents. So when she's forced to listen to gripes from one of the homeowners at the parish council meeting, it might just tip her over the edge.
Jill is taking a trip down memory lane when she starts sorting out junk from the attic. But there's consternation all round when David finds something that they all wish he hadn't. Finally, Jennifer gets a shock when she discovers that Lexi has moved into Ambridge Hall. And following a visit, Jennifer is more than a little narked that Lynda seems to know more about Lexi's arrangements than she does.

(Why is Jill sorting the attic? It was emptied when they were planning to move to Northumberland, that was where the toy farm that changed David's mind had been kept; everything in it was either distributed to its owners or thrown away.)

Madcats · 05/09/2019 15:36

Who is Joy Horville? Do you think she is a new resident of Beechwood/Kirsty's neighbour.

No sign of Rex in the spoiler - one can only hope this means the rewilding project grinds to a halt.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/09/2019 16:18

Kirsty definitely said that Her Next Door was called "Joy Something", so probably that one, and she is making trouble at the Sunday Parish Council meeting and upsetting Emma.

TherapistInATabard · 05/09/2019 16:18

'Joy' rings a distant hilltop bell from when Kirsty mentioned meeting their new next door neighbour.

TherapistInATabard · 05/09/2019 16:18

X post!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/09/2019 17:00

Thanks, Asking! Bit worried that toy farm might be putting in a reappearance.

MikeUniformMike · 05/09/2019 18:27

Thanks asking. The attic is probably empty except for the toy farm, unless they forgot about the non-moove oop north.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update Sep 8-13

Morosely, Freddie fossicks around the village, scavenging for plastic bottles for Ambridge’s equivalent of the Turner Prize, while Jennifer searches for her yet-to-be-born grandchild.
They’re turning out the attic at Brookfield, where Jill finds a host of memories and David discovers something nasty - and a new name to put on his list of enemies.
Up at Grey Gables, where (by the way) you need to keep your eye open for Tracy’s parked chewing gum, Lynda and her feisty protegee are on the hunt for new ideas, while over in another Ambridge venue, Elizabeth finds herself backed into a corner.
Up at Greenacres, Jim goes in search of his inner domestic goddess, and a desperate Eddie seeks a way through for Will.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/09/2019 13:55

Thanks, Asking. I quite like Freddie (the actor, anyway) so that's something to look forward to.

MikeUniformMike · 09/09/2019 08:34

I like Freddie too.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 09/09/2019 11:45

I definitely prefer Freddie to Emma. She needed slapped upsides the head with a haddock for being so gratuitously nasty to him.

TherapistInATabard · 09/09/2019 12:36

'David makes an enemy' - is that the Meat King? *yawn

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/09/2019 15:12

Radio Times Ambridge Diary Sep 15-20
Ian is mightily put out when Oliver pitches the idea of Freddie being given a job in the Grey Gables kitchen. The last thing Ian wants is a convicted drug dealer working for him, but he eventually relents and offers Freddie a trial. Will the ex-con be able to prove himself?
Tempers are fraying elsewhere, too, when Kate questions Ruth’s parenting abilities and Pip leaps to her mum’s defence. Will the fracas lead to a thaw at Brookfield?
Kate is also facing flak from Peggy, and is reaching the end of her tether when her grandmother tries to teach her a lesson.
And despite Eddie’s advice not to, Ed ends up selling one of his young rams at market, determined to give the money raised to Emma and the kids.

(I am out on Saturday having a birthday treat with my daughter, so Saturday's Mail spoilers might be a bit delayed if it is left up to me.)

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/09/2019 16:08

Thanks, Asking! With luck there will be less forced humour.

Thanks Asking

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update Sep 15-20
Ambridge has been in sore need of a geezer ever since Matt Crawford limped off into the unknown, but a candidate has now stepped forward: Vince Casey. You can just tell from his name alone that he’s dodgy - just the sort of chap Lilian goes for.
As Vince oils his way into the village, another Ambridger makes an abrupt departure, leaving one local very angry.
Bored Freddie bucks up when Oliver gets him work at Grey Gables, but Ian, a fiend in the kitchen, gives the young aristo a hard time.
Kate, who is fed up with the clever game that Peggy is playing, comes up with her own wheeze to bag her cake hating man, and Eddie makes an ill-advised confession.

(Why would Vince Casey give a twopenny stuff about Ambridge, or have the slightest desire to visit the place?)

Motoko · 15/09/2019 22:12

Thanks Asking. Hmm, I wonder who's going to make an abrupt departure?

Madcats · 16/09/2019 09:59

You would HOPE that Lily is going to be making an abrupt departure...up to Manchester....to University. Somehow I doubt it. The Editor seems to prefer to feature women without ambition.

I imagine the "abrupt departure" is something to do with Kate leaving Peggy/Jennifer to clear up her mess or something inconsequential.

I do have quite a list of characters I would be happy to see pack their bags, though.

Motoko · 16/09/2019 11:31

I can't see Kate leaving Ambridge while Jakob's still on the scene. It could be Lily going to uni, although she'd have had to have sorted it all out beforehand, and got Elizabeth to act as guarantor for her rental. It would anger Call me Russ though, I'd have thought.

I'd happily see the back of Shula, Kate, and Hannah.

MollyButton · 16/09/2019 23:14

I'm hoping it is Lily - she did mention to Phoebe that she should have gone into Hall and that she "loved" her course, just she'd messed it all up living so far out. Hopefully she just goes - although Freshers is this week there isn't it?
