Even if you don't have a leg(?), a life or a clue, Welcome to the first ever 85th Archers thread! Smile

Wild speculation and sensible questions always welcome - especially any newcomers.

A little game for the weekend, inspired by Timetogetup0630 and Gruach on the last thread:

Invent an explanation for how your username was the inspiration for an Archers storyline, character, etc - be creative!

My username is telling the story of Toby, Adam and Ian, although it probably needs some punctuation: Dad! Dad/Dad? Grin

dairyfarmerswife - bit too easy for you, but as professional country folk maybe you could judge the winner? Star

Credit to MrsGrindah for the clever thread title

Bad wine and turned milk?

Perhaps just the small bottle ...

TaurielTest · 18/02/2018 18:49

I wasn't too impressed with the "Susan might be autistic" thing. Not that it's not plausible, but she phrased it in that misconceived "we're all on the spectrum with people with ASD diagnoses at the far end" way. I'd have hoped a psychologist would know better...

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 18/02/2018 19:14

Uhoh, caught her wrist on a rusty nail perhaps - sepsis?

Gruach · 18/02/2018 19:22

Spoilers thread here.

For anyone who fancies coming over to the dark side ...

Grin

Caution: It contains Spoilers.

Bekabeech · 18/02/2018 19:45

Actually as the mother of a daughter with Aspergers I think she had a point. Susan's brother Gary (with the Star Wars wallpaper and no known job) certainly sounds possibly Autistic. And it would be expected that other members of the family would have "traits".
And Susan does lack friends in the village even though she grew up there. And she does mean well even if she misses social cues. I don't see her as a narcissist ist at all, she even went to prison because of being torn by family loyalty.

SusanWalker · 18/02/2018 20:22

I thought Nic had been self harming because of being stuck in the house. I obviously misheard that.

echt · 18/02/2018 20:32

Did I hear right that Tobes has bought Pip a glider trip? That should get the Dopeys agitated. Hideous near-miss?

Minimammoth · 18/02/2018 20:39

Oh dear that sound like a miscarriage event.☹️

ADarkandStormyKnight · 18/02/2018 21:38

Ach, I don't know. I hope it's that Toby is copping on to how Pip feels and what she needs. He didn't crowd in on her for her birthday and he is giving her something she'll enjoy and which isn't about her role as incubator for the Baby Farcher.

RubyLennoxExists · 18/02/2018 22:38

Gliders can be dangerous, can't they? [Taps fingers impatiently ...]

I wasn't sure what Nic cutting herself was about either. I thought of dv bruises and scars possibly.

LightofaSilveryMoon · 18/02/2018 22:54

A glider trip???!!!

Who the hell buys a pregnant woman a glider trip???!!!

Still, there's potential.....

But the offer of Joe's partially-used hanky - I'd have refused too! I mean... And I quite like Joe, sometimes.

Eeeewwww....

EBearhug · 19/02/2018 00:04

I take it you won't be applying to be Tom's marketing manager any time soon thenEbear?

I had a careers chat with HR a while back. "You've got a good CV here," he said. "But it doesn't look like you're cut out for sales or marketing at all..."

Jessie It's the fact that she was supposed to mend the fence ,out of which the cattle escaped and she didn't. She asked Josh to do it and he left it.

Swannykazoo · 19/02/2018 09:53

Very good point about the Adam and Ian childcare - funny how no one asks them!

brownelephant · 19/02/2018 10:03

kefir fizzez if it's over fermented.
mine (not goats milk) usually doesn't.

wrt glider flight, I'm sure I had to sign that I'm fit and well and not pregnant. it was fab

ppeatfruit · 19/02/2018 12:13

Ian said he'd stay home with the baby and maybe later work from home. (Did no one else hear the episode in which he said it? Hmm

I know I didn't imagine it Grin

CeciledeVolanges · 19/02/2018 12:15

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for ages but just wanted to say how nice it was to see R4 and (I think) Ebearhug at Academic Archers! I had such a fabulous day and it only remains to me not to say that I can't enter the competition, but that's fine because my storyline is in fact fanfiction, of the crossover kind, written in French in epistolary form and involving a lot of intrigue. I think the plot could be much improved with Carol's magic tea, for example.

Snuper · 19/02/2018 12:15

I love kefir! We buy it from Eastern European shops in town where it's much cheaper than the main supermarkets. I've made my own too. Lovely stuff.

ppeatfruit · 19/02/2018 12:15

Blimey, pregnant or not there's no way I'd welcome a glider flight, good for Toby if Pip's keen though.

EBearhug · 19/02/2018 12:45

Yes, Cécile, it was me sat just in front of you. I didn't do that much chatting, I found the noise in the foyer at breaks rather overwhelming. I had a lovely day, though.

TaurielTest · 19/02/2018 13:13

I'm sorry not to have said a proper hello to those who were at AA - it was a bit frenzied! Next time, let's arrange a rendezvous point (far from the morris dancers) and steal a tray of lemon drizzle just for us.

Bekabeech · 19/02/2018 14:13

Yes definitely it was very loud. Most people were lovely. And I know who Ebearhug is, but was hopeless with other people I met.

JessieMcJessie · 19/02/2018 14:19

I thought she had fessed up about that ppeat. If not, why is she taking the blame for the IBR spreading, just because she didn’t admit that she knew the cows had got out?

TheAntiBoop · 19/02/2018 14:22

I thought she took the blame but didn't spell out why. So they think she is this wonderful martyr

JimboDoesTheLimboInHawaii · 19/02/2018 15:59

Do the Dopeys know that Pip lent Tobes five grand? I know he's paid some of it back, but only about £1500, I think. I don't know. Please enlighten me!
