Even if you don't have a leg(?), a life or a clue, Welcome to the first ever 85th Archers thread! Smile

Wild speculation and sensible questions always welcome - especially any newcomers.

A little game for the weekend, inspired by Timetogetup0630 and Gruach on the last thread:

Invent an explanation for how your username was the inspiration for an Archers storyline, character, etc - be creative!

My username is telling the story of Toby, Adam and Ian, although it probably needs some punctuation: Dad! Dad/Dad? Grin

dairyfarmerswife - bit too easy for you, but as professional country folk maybe you could judge the winner? Star

Credit to MrsGrindah for the clever thread title

I thought Pip told the Dopeys about the fence. Surely they wouldn't have just accepted her taking the blame without any explanation?

GnotherGnu · 19/02/2018 16:25

Friend of mine was desperate to have a glider trip. She staggered out of the glider immediately after the trip with a stonking migraine and had to lie down for a couple of hours before she was capable of doing anything. Far be it from me to wish anything similar on Pip ....

She really wants to have her cake and eat it with this pregnancy, doesn't she? She fully believes she's entitled to all the fun bits of having a baby without it impacting on her life at all, whether in terms of taking care whilst pregnant or looking after it once it's born.

Hi everyone, haven’t posted in ages but still listening.
Sorry if it’s been covered, but is it ok for someone to brief me on who you all think was involved in the Matt Crawford hit and run?
I wasn’t sure if it’s been discussed in detail and have a small now crawling baby so would love to read about it but have no time (when awake).
My personal opinion is Sula. Theories?
Tea and cake for all.

1sttimeunicorn · 19/02/2018 16:50

And yup she did tell the dopes about the fence.

extinctspecies · 19/02/2018 17:01

Unicorn I think the prevailing view on here is also Shula.

1sttimeunicorn · 19/02/2018 17:04

Gah sorry for that typo too. Feel an idiot now. Ah that’s good glad I’m not the only one. Thanks.

R4 · 19/02/2018 18:23

Twas a fun day, as ever. The highlight had to be a speaker cringing whilst she psychoanalysed Susan, with Charlotte Martin (a research psychologist IRL, let us not forget) sat on stage only feet away from her. The speaker resorted to putting her hand up as a shield, in a "if I can't see you then you can't hear what I'm saying about you" sort of way. Priceless.Grin

Gruach · 19/02/2018 19:14

This is lovely writing!

(Neil and Justin.)

Vango · 19/02/2018 19:15

Hurrah for lovely Neil! Grin

ADarkandStormyKnight · 19/02/2018 19:19

Hurrah!

And now what is Tom going to do for a pigman? not really

AuntyElle · 19/02/2018 19:23

Yes, BOOPS all round.

Gruach · 19/02/2018 19:23

Jazzer will replace Tom, surely?

Who wrote tonight’s episode? Definite BOOP for both writing and acting of Justin and Neil.

R4 · 19/02/2018 19:27

Two Carter promotions in one day! (assuming Neil accepts. I wouldn't put it beyond him to decline.Shock )

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/02/2018 19:32

Susan will be unbearable but am so pleased for lovely Neeyull.

Nic's scratched arm is clearly troubling her and she's feeling tired - imminent sepsis sl clearly being signalled. Will she survive? Will she have to have her arm lopped off like the corrupt police detective woman in Line of Duty?

R4 · 19/02/2018 19:44

How instrumental was Neil-of-the-Parish-Council in granting the planning permission for Elliotville and the development at the pig unit?
How does it look if he gets a job and Emma gets a house?

TheAntiBoop · 19/02/2018 19:46

Shady

EmmaGrundyForPM · 19/02/2018 20:50

Hi R4 I was there as well. It was great. Apart from the kefir and the Morris dancing..........

EmmaGrundyForPM · 19/02/2018 20:52

Parish councils don't have any powers re Planning Permission. I presume Borsetshire is a tiered authority, like most shire counties. So planning falls under the remit of the District Council. Do we actually know the name of the District Council where Ambridge is located? I'm not sure they ever mention it do they?

ADarkandStormyKnight · 19/02/2018 21:09

I had my kefir this morning with a spoon of stevia. It was fine. Now waiting for the health benefits to kick in....

TheAntiBoop · 19/02/2018 21:21

Why was there all the hoohaa over Justin's plans at the parish council of they have no influence? I thought Justin was keen to win them over as he could present that as local support. So one way or another, the parish council had a little influence

Susan wouldn't be worried about Neil if she knew he'd been giving helpful advice to Justin; she'd be hoping he'll get the job of managing the BigPiggery and "going up in the world".

I claim royalties

Peartree17 · 19/02/2018 21:48

Ooh, go for it, Neeyul! also (as someone who keeps googling agricultural/catering wage rates) very happy to hear an actual salary mentioned. So if Susan gets a management role (no pay rise mentioned, though?) and Neil takes this job, then the Carters' Unstoppable Wage Machine could propel Emmur and Ed to their deposit. While Nic's arm drops off and Will loses the keeper's cottage as Brine's fortunes go down the pan (I may be anticipating things a bit there), it would be a fantastic see-saw of fortunes...

ADarkandStormyKnight · 19/02/2018 21:58

Anyone care to guess what rate Tom is paying?

CaraBosse1 · 19/02/2018 22:22

I guess £20,000.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 19/02/2018 22:27

I think Susan and Clarrie are on a fraction over minimum wage with unlimited kefir perks.
