Even if you don't have a leg(?), a life or a clue, Welcome to the first ever 85th Archers thread! Smile

Wild speculation and sensible questions always welcome - especially any newcomers.

A little game for the weekend, inspired by Timetogetup0630 and Gruach on the last thread:

Invent an explanation for how your username was the inspiration for an Archers storyline, character, etc - be creative!

My username is telling the story of Toby, Adam and Ian, although it probably needs some punctuation: Dad! Dad/Dad? Grin

dairyfarmerswife - bit too easy for you, but as professional country folk maybe you could judge the winner? Star

Credit to MrsGrindah for the clever thread title

There was also the weird bit when Nic performed an anti-spike on Alice's drinks, and Kenton caught her. She was on the back foot from then.

Will was seriously unpleasant and controlling. Run, Nic!

ADarkandStormyKnight · 15/02/2018 23:59

Quite a few deddings in the offing. Peggy, Joe, Jill, Bert and Christine are surely all in the frame in terms of years. Alice is up for a bit of drink-driving which puts the entire village at risk.

MiddleClassProblem · 16/02/2018 00:01

Could Alice have drunkenly hit Matt or her extra drinking be a result of hitting him?

Or is it that that storyline has just vanished?

LillianGish · 16/02/2018 08:47

Or is it that that storyline has just vanished? It's gone the way of Stefan and various other never-tied-up loose ends with the closure of Berrow Farm - not to mention the sink hole. Strange really - an unsatisfactory and over-dramatic plot twist in the first place which has never come to anything. Especially as it was dressed up as such whodunnit at the start. Actually I'm rather glad - I find the TV soap type storylines the least gripping. I'm much more interested in knowing why Phil and Kirsty only had one pair of binoculars between them - is it because Phil is only pretending to be a twitcher so he can ingratiate himself with Kirtsy?

BertrandRussell · 16/02/2018 08:54

If there had been any character consistancy at all I would be amazed at Jolene. But as there isn’t..........

And Nic didn’t choose to reject Emma, she felt she had no choice. She is in such a vulnerable position-she is completely dependent on Will, who is becoming more controlling and abusive with every episode.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/02/2018 08:54

I don't think it's vanished. I follow The Archers on Twitter and there was a fairly random tweet the other day asking who ran Matt over. I strongly suspect they're going to go back to this in the not too distant future. My money's on either Shula or Alice, with an outside bet on Nic.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/02/2018 08:59

It was linking to this BBC page which suggests (tongue so far in cheek it's pushed through to the sinus) that Jill could be a suspect.

Gruach · 16/02/2018 09:46

R3 Free Thinking has a piece on accent in TA. Linked to Academic Archers con. Haven't heard it myself but probably worth a listen.

ppeatfruit · 16/02/2018 10:24

Nic can handle Will, she's put her foot down with him before but she wouldn't do it front of Emm and Ed.

Yaay Kirsty and Philip Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/02/2018 10:45

Phirsty!!!! Grin

ppeatfruit · 16/02/2018 10:53

That's good Bore Grin

choccyp1g · 16/02/2018 11:12

Have the SW completely forgotten that the tea-room is run by FALLON, Jolene's daughter?
If Jolene was going to make a row about stealing ideas, she sould have fallen out with Fallon not Nic.

choccyp1g · 16/02/2018 11:12

would have

Abra1de · 16/02/2018 11:20

Jolene was going to make a row about stealing ideas, she sould have fallen out with Fallon not Nic.

Exactly.

ppeatfruit · 16/02/2018 11:30

Maybe Fallon's been away ? (she says doing the SWs job Grin )

BertrandRussell · 16/02/2018 11:32

Just been on another thread where I discovered that Jolene is a brand of anal bleach. Not sure how to process that information........

ppeatfruit · 16/02/2018 11:41

OMG Bert I need brain bleach now Hmm (sick emoji)

MikeUniformMike · 16/02/2018 12:38

Kirsty went out with Cowman Sam, who took her to a gastropub, which IIRC was called The Feathers. She thought it would be a romantic meal for two. He dumped her.
She went for a meal there with the real Tom Archer and was dumped again.

Cowman Sam was in love with Ruth. Tom was seeing a supermarket buyer called Tamsin.

UnimaginativeNameChange1 · 16/02/2018 13:38

Jolen is a brand of bleach usually used on facial hair. Jolene herself remains unsullied Grin

Minimammoth · 16/02/2018 15:19

Do the single men of Ambridge never look beyond the village for a girlfriend? We never hear of any girlfriend or boyfriend of Tom, Josh, Ben, Jazzer, ..... only the efforts of Roy.

Minimammoth · 16/02/2018 15:20

Grin unimaginative

ppeatfruit · 16/02/2018 15:58

I have a vague memory of Josh having a girlfriend (I might be wrong though). Jazzer has\had a whole street of girlfriends (on his milk round!) .

Alleycat1 · 16/02/2018 16:05

Doesn't Jazzer suffer from a case of unrequited love re. Fallon, or did I imagine that?

ppeatfruit · 16/02/2018 17:23

No Alley it's not your imagination he has had the hots for Fallon for a long time (poor Jazzer) but Harrison is definitely a better bet Grin

CraicMammy · 16/02/2018 17:40

Kirsty would be perfect to manage Spiritual Home whilst Kate’s away. Shame she had that dingdong with JD the other week!
