Discuss The Archers here, the long-running thread series started by PseudoBadger. Maybe my puns will tempt her back to take the reigns?

I think Sleeping Beauty references can wait until the next thread which will probably cover much of December.

Lurkers de-lurk! New to The Archers? you're welcome here; the friendly crowd will answer your questions.

I'm sorry to hear that Swanny Sad

I generally 'listen' on TV (it's on at a good time atm straight after Strictly IT2) or if there's something good on the box, I either Catch Up on here (if it's got dramatic) Or listen on the radio in the afternoon.

FGS I'm with Justin here and Alice, why haven't they killed him off? I am getting fed up of stupid Lil lachrymosing over the idiot\criminal Matt.

Helenluvsrob · 02/11/2017 07:39

Turned on TA and it had gone back to its original purpose /m- education about farming 😂

BertrandRussell · 02/11/2017 07:41

If Matt had a huge fortune I'm the unnamed Button girl.

R4 · 02/11/2017 08:01

We haven't seen what's in the suitcases yet ...

TheAntiBoop · 02/11/2017 08:06

That's disappointing dairy - I was hoping the cows would mutiny

RolfNotRudolf · 02/11/2017 08:08

Hello Molly Smile
I'm guessing that if Matt dies the SWs will have named Lillian in his will and have given him a vast fortune. Well vastish. Or slightly vast enough to mean that Lillian can decide to live without Justin.
Although I dislike Matt, Justin and Lillian - if they could all piss off to Equador that would be fine.

Dfw thank you for explaining what Pip was saying last night. I like the agricultural bits of TA but couldn't concentrate on Pip's explanation. (She can piss off to Ecuador too)

ppeatfruit · 02/11/2017 08:40

From the sound of it Justin is definitely a multi millionaire, Matt 's 'fortune' will be in juicy fruits !

Good to hear, run of the mill type, discussions about the cattle on Brookfield, I noticed that Ed is also working there while D n' R are away.

SingingAvocado · 02/11/2017 15:15

Placemarking … thank you for the thread!

Abra1d · 02/11/2017 19:11

Hmmn, I wonder if it was Ian?

Minimammoth · 02/11/2017 19:33

I reckon as someone said above, it will be some un cast and unknown person probably one of Matts enemies from his shady dealings.

Mootsie · 02/11/2017 19:40

The pissed off taxi driver is now a suspect as well?

They're lining up thick and fast.

R4 · 02/11/2017 19:43

Why was Kenton being so evasive. Does he think that conversations between landlords and their customers are bound by the same rules as the confessional?Hmm
Why not come out and say it was Justin talking to Matt - plenty enough other people witnessed it so it was hardly secret.

SoMuchToBits · 02/11/2017 20:08

Judging by the way Matt was so desperate to get his suitcases back, there must be something suspicious in them.

AuntyElle · 02/11/2017 20:21

Horse's head?

cheminotte · 02/11/2017 21:06

Thanks for the explanation DFW - good to get it in lay speak.

C8H10N4O2 · 02/11/2017 23:25

Matt desperate for locked suitcases (because hold luggage is so safe for sooper sekrit stuff) and reluctant to deal with police, insisting he doesn't want to press charges - I'm assuming this is LSW's idea of subtle suggestions that he is involved in dodgy stuff again. Too subtle for me - I wasn't sure if that insistence was meant to be evidence that he knew the driver and was afraid of them.

Presumably if he gets a sniff of Justin being a suspect his memory will come back suddenly and drahma will ensue. In which case I might take a month off TA.

Ian/Adam is very irritating as well atm. Remind me, why do I listen?

Imbroglio · 03/11/2017 01:44

Matt's suitcase is full of bathroom fittings from grey gables.

Eastpoint · 03/11/2017 04:32

Excellent Imbroglio, presumably wrapped up in a thick towelling dressing gown?

ThatsNotMyToddler · 03/11/2017 06:18

Phew - caught up!

Can we rewind to Tuesday for a minute? Can anyone explain to me why Robert was in the Bull getting drunk? It seemed very unlikely behaviour. Was he there only to allow the truce with Emma? And do we think that Shula was looking like a wet weekend only because of whatever-it-was that Jill said she’d argued with Alistair about?

I might need to listen again to Tuesday’s episode - I spent the whole thing thinking I’d missed an episode.

I’m v pleased to have the hunt ball out of the way tbh. I thought Shula made a huge meal out of organising something that would, in reality, probably have run itself given that it happens every year and isn’t exactly at the forefront of social innovation. I was completely bewildered at how stressed she was that Matt wouldn’t be there to give out the raffle prize Hmm

And I’m quite enjoyed Justin (who I dong like at all) having to be politely interested in Matt’s fate while Lil behaves completely unreasonably propping up his bedside. I agree it’s unlikely that it was Justin that hit him, just because it seems so likely, but it’s fun listening to the fall-out.

SoMuchToBits · 03/11/2017 08:04

I think the thing with Shula being so stressed is that the Hunt Ball has been a bit of a "last straw" situation. Normally she'd deal with it fine, but on top of all the problems with the vet business (and Alastair being affected by Matt and the gambling stuff from the past) and the stable business, it's just one more worry on top of everything else. Often it's the small things (like not having someone to present the raffle prize) that send you over the edge.

ppeatfruit · 03/11/2017 08:14

So…. any doctors on here? Matt ( who is in his late 60s or early 70s?) has been in a medically induced coma with brain\skull contusions, and general breakages. Would he be able to hold a (nearly) sensible conversation about his blasted luggage ?

Give over SWs! even with the Amb. health fairy this was pushing it more than somewhat.

BertrandRussell · 03/11/2017 08:49

It's obviously rubbish, isn't it, pp? I sometimes wonder whether the reason Bethany was moved to Birmingham was that they couldn't miraculously cure Down's.......

C8H10N4O2 · 03/11/2017 08:54

I sometimes wonder whether the reason Bethany was moved to Birmingham was that they couldn't miraculously cure Down's.......

Oh I dunno, they managed to 'cure' some other conditions miraculously. Brian's epilepsy springs to mind. I sometimes wonder if they have really bad archives and forget these things.

They missed a trick keeping Bethany in the village.

BertrandRussell · 03/11/2017 09:04

I suppose I hope they wouldn't be crass enough to "cure" Downs.

My favourite miracle cure is Jazzer's ketamine induced brain damage.

Although some of the personality transplants have been cutting edge medical technology too.

SoMuchToBits · 03/11/2017 09:05

Yes, I thought Matt made a ridiculously speedy recovery too!
