Discuss The Archers here, the long-running thread series started by PseudoBadger. Maybe my puns will tempt her back to take the reigns?

I think Sleeping Beauty references can wait until the next thread which will probably cover much of December.

Lurkers de-lurk! New to The Archers? you're welcome here; the friendly crowd will answer your questions.

Another one who usually listens while cooking dinner here...

Lexilooo · 01/11/2017 18:12

Hi greymalkin I don't post on this thread often because I'm not always up to date. I podcast and listen while cooking dinner but can get behind if I'm out or DH is helping cook (he is not a fan) so I avoid the thread if I am behind so the plot isn't spoilt

AuldHeathen · 01/11/2017 18:21

Bekabeech, yes of course it was the ‘silk’ flowers. Smile

I usually hear TA ‘live’ each evening. If l miss it, l try to get it on the BBC site. I rarely listen to the Sunday omnibus as l find other stations better on a Sunday morning. If there’s a big story l might listen again - l might this coming weekend, for example.

AuldHeathen · 01/11/2017 18:21

And welcome to greymalkin.

Gruach · 01/11/2017 18:43

Oooh - new posters! Welcome all.

Can't recall if anyone's drawn attention to the Archers Spoilers Thread so far on this one. It's a wonderful thing - full of tasty clues about this and that. Only difficulty I have is remembering not to accidentally share those spoilers here. (Others may explain why ...)

Bounces up and down with mild excitement

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 01/11/2017 19:13

Sudden intake of breath - Josh!

Cromwell1536 · 01/11/2017 19:17

Ha, ha! I did enjoy Justin' hopeful "Is he dead?"

Jenny - 'mantelpiece'. She's so LMC...

Gruach · 01/11/2017 19:17

Another - Brian needing his car repaired. Or is it the replacement car that is suspect? (Lost track of pre-Ball timetable.)

R4 · 01/11/2017 19:21

Oh come on, SW, we need a bit more Police action than this.

RolfNotRudolf · 01/11/2017 19:24

Ha, ha! I did enjoy Justin' hopeful "Is he dead?"
It's beginning to turn into an episode of Peep Show with Justin as Jeremy Grin

Or alternatively is shaping up for a marvellous AIBU on here - "I am due to marry my fiancé in December. Her ex who walked out on her and took all her money is in a coma and she is spending all her time at his bedside. AIBU to think she should have moved on?"

birdsdestiny · 01/11/2017 20:00

It's like a game of cluedo. They aren't going for subtlety whilst listing the suspects are they. Also surely Lillian would try to pretend she doesn't love Matt just for appearances sake, I mean I know she is distraught, but if Matt dies she is left with Justin who must be getting highly pissed off. She has no sense of self preservation.

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 01/11/2017 20:00

Checking in.

DP, who is normally a sceptic to the point of Archers avoidance, is for some reason following the current storyline with avid enthusiasm.

RolfNotRudolf · 01/11/2017 21:21

Birds - but if Matt dies Lillian is left with his vast fortune (I'm guessing) which makes Justin even less attractive then currently.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 01/11/2017 21:51

The wedding is off isn't it ?

Imbroglio · 01/11/2017 21:53

Never mind the infernal triangle - what about Pip starving the cows? I bet they escape from the farm by squeezing through the railings this time.

TheAntiBoop · 01/11/2017 21:57

So is pip wonder farmer or not?

Maybe be if she starves them they will eat her?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 01/11/2017 22:02

I edit all Pip related stuff out.

birdsdestiny · 01/11/2017 22:19

Matt is not a good enough criminal to have a vast fortune.

Lexilooo · 01/11/2017 22:37

Well I suppose Brian has form for hit and runs what with Peggy's cat

HatingTheBigShow · 01/11/2017 23:02

Maybe Hilda Ogden did it.

C8H10N4O2 · 01/11/2017 23:18

DP, who is normally a sceptic to the point of Archers avoidance,

Hah - I have one of those. Actively doesn't listen except when he does and then needs a quick explanation/update of all the goings on. Hmm

Greymalkin I'm C8 and I've spent the last N years trying to achieve my 30 day TA chip. I'm still working on it Grin.
I have no idea why, most of the characters annoy me, I'm allergic to soaps in general. I blame my parents for having it on when I was a baby.

C8H10N4O2 · 01/11/2017 23:21

if Matt dies Lillian is left with his vast fortune

I don't think he has one - its other people's money he is spending on horses. I also don't think he is going to die, I foresee long, tedious recovery and accusations with him being as nasty as ever.

JessieMcJessie · 02/11/2017 00:08

Why would Lilian inherit Matt’s money if he dies? Being NOK for medical reasons doesn’t make you someone’s heir if they die intestate. As Matt is childless and has no living parents his closest relatives are probably Paul’s children...

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 02/11/2017 01:35

Matt is likely to have a will and Lillian is likely to be the beneficiary. He has a solicitor- we know that from the Dower House being in trust.

dairyfarmerswife · 02/11/2017 06:53

Pip is bang on with the cows this time. She's not talking about starving them. The two options are, keep milking them but feed them extra concentrate to allow them to put on a bit of weight while still milking, or dry them off early and keep them on the same amount of feed so they gain weight because they are no longer milking. She isn't talking about all the cows, just some thin ones.

I think she's got it right because although the milk price is higher now they are at the end of the season so the cows aren't producing much milk anyway, and it is far more important to set the cows up for next season by giving them a slightly longer 'holiday'. It is common practice in block calving herds to dry thin cows off early.
