Discuss The Archers here, the long-running thread series started by PseudoBadger. Maybe my puns will tempt her back to take the reigns?

I think Sleeping Beauty references can wait until the next thread which will probably cover much of December.

Lurkers de-lurk! New to The Archers? you're welcome here; the friendly crowd will answer your questions.

She seems to go for men who like screwing over other people, preferably people she knows and even better if its family.

muthasquigle · 31/10/2017 19:19

Ugh, Alice. She was appalling tonight. Will JD and Brine, with Chris silently in tow stage an intervention post-Christmas?

Abra1d · 31/10/2017 19:21

Alice, FGS!

AuntyElle · 31/10/2017 19:35

The scene with Roy and Lexie in Ikea has to be the dullest and most pointless ever. Just why?
In contrast, I quite enjoyed Alice letting rip.

BeaLola · 31/10/2017 20:06

I'm moving towards Alistair as the culprit - only because Justin seem s too obvious , they kept mentioning that Alistiar was nowhere to be seen and I can imagine that if he ran over Matt even by accident he could in the moment drive off .....

TheAntiBoop · 31/10/2017 20:18

We're only a couple of days in and I already don't really care who did it. Mainly because we'll never find out with Harrison on the case

Lexilooo · 31/10/2017 20:20

I'm thinking Alistair too. Why else was Shula so down when Jenny saw her? Perhaps because the car is damaged??

Adam disappeared early too though and Ian asked if he was sober enough to drive....

I really don't like what they are doing with Alice. Alice was a hard working, motivated engineer with a social life and has been turned into drunken party girl.
It would be nice if they let just one relationship run without mega drahma and just one of the young women be successful without some tragic failing.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 31/10/2017 21:24

Why is Emma so worked up? Is that another red herring?

Imbroglio · 31/10/2017 21:28

Why is Robert channelling Theresa May?

BertrandRussell · 31/10/2017 21:28

TASWAMA.

DadDadDad · 31/10/2017 22:06

Minimammoth - does that make you all my minions? Confused

Gah! To NewAlice. What have they done to her?

Excellent job on the thread title D^3. Have a good trip and don't forget to bring us back lots of Toblerone.

AuldHeathen · 01/11/2017 00:14

Shula might well be upset because Alistair spent all night in the casino.

A possibility re-the hit and run was that someone unknown hit Matt, then Justin came along a few minutes later, stopped and then drove away. And now he’s feeling bad. He has seemed surprised at the extent of Matt’s injuries. But that could be an act of course. There was, l think, a gap between the collision and then hearing the breathing and the person shutting the car door and leaving the scene of the accident. This could be a load of bollocks of course. From what Plot said, Matt seems to have been nearer to GG than to the Bull by the time of the crash. I imagine this won’t be solved quickly, especially as Plot isn’t the brightest light out there.

Bekabeech · 01/11/2017 06:46

Its possible that Justin didn't know Matt was injured but just thought he had fallen over drunk (assuming he just saw Matt but didn't knock him over).

ppeatfruit · 01/11/2017 08:23

I liked the scene with Lexi shopping, it showed that GG looks after its employees, that she wants to be independent (not living in Roy's pocket).

There are some people who can't hold their drink, Alice seems to be dependent on drink to have a "good' time", she's on the way to becoming an alcoholic which wouldn't be surprising in a village like AMB. It's only surprising that there aren't more like her.

Alleycat1 · 01/11/2017 08:34

Yes, ppeat, but why did the scriptwriters have to pick Alice as the falling-down drunk! She was lovely, level-headed, hard-working and happy with Chris; just about the most likeable of the younger generation. Surely the damn scriptwriters could have left them alone to portray at least one stable relationship. Alice seems to have morphed into a Kate worse than Kate ifyswim. and it just doesn't ring true.

ppeatfruit · 01/11/2017 08:47

Well she married very young almost on a whim ( as an act of rebellion to her family) , she nearly had an affair with a 'rotter' at uni. She's never been Miss Perfect. Who would want that anyway? It's not true to life.

R4 · 01/11/2017 09:24

Its possible that Justin didn't know Matt was injured but just thought he had fallen over drunk (assuming he just saw Matt but didn't knock him over).

That's a possible and explains why Justin didn't rush off to establish an alibi. But doesn't explain why Justin didn't generouslyHmm 'help' him to make sure that he caught the flight and left the country.
Justin had been at GG (North) went to the Bull (Centre) and ended up at the Dower House (South). Matt had been at the Bull (C) and was making his way to GG (N). Their paths should have crossed at some stage unless it was when Matt was stargazing on the Green.

Bekabeech · 01/11/2017 10:02

R4 - but it is pretty clear that Justin hadn't seen Matt before he got to the Bull. If he then went straight home he wouldn't have seen him afterwards.
And Justin must have crossed with Matt sometime on his way to the Bull. So probably Matt went for a walk/think on the Village Green before walking to GG.

R4 · 01/11/2017 10:10

true
If he then went straight home he wouldn't have seen him afterwards.
He may have been convinced by Kenton's lecture and gone straight home. Or he may have gone searching for a bit. We don't know.

We need some footprints and tyretracks. Come on, Harrison!

ppeatfruit · 01/11/2017 10:16

R4 From the way Roy was talking and asking about the HB yesterday made me think that it WAS at LL. Unless it had been his night off, he'd 've been there surely.

R4 · 01/11/2017 10:24

Arghh. I can't believe that we, collectively, don't know if it was GG or LL! Why would Ian be doing the catering at LL? Why would control-freak-Lizzie, with professional reputation at stake, let Shula be in charge. Wouldn't it be at Ollie's gaff, seeing as he is MFH.

ppeatfruit · 01/11/2017 10:31

Because Ian did outside catering for his husband's cousin? Not so unusual, we have a cousin who is a highly qualified chef\restaurant manager and he often does it for family.

Shula did it because it was her job as Hunt Master.
