Discuss The Archers here, the long-running thread series started by PseudoBadger. Maybe my puns will tempt her back to take the reigns?

I think Sleeping Beauty references can wait until the next thread which will probably cover much of December.

Lurkers de-lurk! New to The Archers? you're welcome here; the friendly crowd will answer your questions.

TA annoys me intensely but I still have to listen

Oh definitely seconding this as a thread title!

Considering the wedding is meant to be in a week or so are we going to have a dramatic fall out with Justin in clink over Christmas or a 'romantic' wedding issue?

The prospect of Pip reproducing is quite depressing - months of dopey drahma. Or she will get an abortion and there will be drama about roping Elizabeth into it and wanting her to keep it secret and Ian being upset because he wants a baby (reprising another old plot line)

Gruach · 01/12/2017 18:20

Indeed C8H - they do seem to have gone to considerable trouble to mirror an ancient story ...

Though it would surely be more entertaining to have Toby and Pip sharing lifelong semi-detached, squabbling parenthood.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2017 19:24

Well, what a surprise.

Said no one.

TheAntiBoop · 01/12/2017 19:42

And all the sterotypical pregnancy symptoms again.

God this is going to be dull

millymollymandy46 · 01/12/2017 19:46

Is there any chance of a phone call whilst Helen decks her tree with a dulcet "Hello, Helen. It's me....I've changed......" or has Rob absolutely utterly blown it with her? Would it be too much too soon? I suspect so but would be SO tempted if I were a script writer to bring him back in some form....

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 01/12/2017 19:49

Oh what a bore. The only shred of comfort is Ruth will be furious that Toby is the father.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2017 19:58

I think they may go down an abortion s/l. We haven't had one since... ooh, Annette. And before that Elizabeth.

Pip will shilly-shally but eventually decide to have the Heir to Brookfield, which shall be named Phillip. Thus uniting the Bearfrothers and the Archers for ever and ever. Jill will combust.

Mystic Bore's crystal ballâ„¢ is uncertain as to whether Pip and Toebee will get together or whether Pip will pluckily soldier on alone and unaided except for hordes of Archer relatives.

BitOutOfPractice · 01/12/2017 19:59

My eyes have nearly rolled out of my head

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2017 19:59

millymollymandy46, I think Knob will definitely return at some stage but probably not yet.

Vango · 01/12/2017 20:02

Ruth will be furious that Toby is the father.

Ruth's generally ok with him though isn't she ("if it's what Pip wants").

David and Jill are going to be furious.

And poor Josh will probably have to move out of his room so that it can become the baby's nursery when Jill takes responsibility for childcare.

Vango · 01/12/2017 20:10

Oh and from yesterday......brace yourself Emma, it's never going to happen!

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2017 20:13

Nah, Vango. Super Texel will save the day!

Vango · 01/12/2017 20:16

Maybe.......but not before Justin let's her down!

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2017 20:35

Well yes, it will be an eleventh-hour SuperTexel Grin

Probably its potential will only be recognised after it is loaded into the lorry and has set off for the abattoir. Then there will be a race against time - complete with lorry hijack - to save him.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 01/12/2017 20:41

Ruth's generally ok with him though isn't she ("if it's what Pip wants")

She won't like Pip being deceitful about still seeing him. Elizabeth will get blamed for not telling the Dopeys Pip was shagging Toby under Elizabeth's roof.

Minimammoth · 01/12/2017 20:48

Oh no. Haven’t listened, say it ain’t so.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 01/12/2017 20:51

Sorry, it is. Complete with obligatory morning sickness.

HatingTheBigShow · 01/12/2017 21:42

Well that explains why we haven't met Alfie, the perfect boyfriend who will never be.

Ceto · 01/12/2017 21:54

How does Emmur reconcile her determination to take every single job offered with her duties as a parish councillor?

TheAntiBoop · 01/12/2017 22:04

A pregnant pip may well push me into not listening again. I can't bear it and I can't bear the dreadful acting

echt · 01/12/2017 22:16

Oh FFS. Boorrring!!

Next!

AuldHeathen · 01/12/2017 22:54

I’m not surprised Pip puked. She had breakfast at LL, then ate casserole with Elizabeth. No time or work in between? Possibly l missed something ... Grin

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 01/12/2017 23:43

I’m not surprised Pip puked. She had breakfast at LL, then ate casserole with Elizabeth. No time or work in between? Possibly l missed something ..

I wasn't paying attention but what was all the fuss about the casserole? Were they eating that at Brookfield? Some sort of special celebratory welcome home casserole ? It is so over- egged. Pip has been a few miles away at her aunt's luxurious house for a few months and they saw her everyday. Less fuss has been made of returning soldiers in war-time.

Vango · 02/12/2017 00:02

Hah. You're right Lass. This will be 100% Elizabeth's fault. I can hear them now: "How could you Elizabeth?".

Pip's returned to Rickyard. Gran knocked to drop off the hot food. Mum and Dad have left her an Advent Calendar. Their joy will be short-lived.

Holliewantstobehot · 02/12/2017 00:20

Justin will give Emma a discount/special offer on her house. Then she'll get accused of corruption.

Why would they want Pip to move back in when they've only two bedrooms between the three kids? Its like they can't bear her to be out of their sight, unlike Ben who they never even talk to. They seriously need family therapy.
