The Archers: Will Lillian decide what MATTers JUST IN time? Discussion #82

DadDadDad · 31/10/2017 12:47

Discuss The Archers here, the long-running thread series started by PseudoBadger. Maybe my puns will tempt her back to take the reigns?

I think Sleeping Beauty references can wait until the next thread which will probably cover much of December.

Lurkers de-lurk! New to The Archers? you're welcome here; the friendly crowd will answer your questions.

This’ll need workshopping!! re Justin and Lil’s Wedding: will they get back together Justin time, or will the wedding be a Havishambles?

Paperweightmover · 30/11/2017 19:18

Lillian LTB.

Justin accused you of having an affair with HIM, the blooming, awful, lowlife, misogynistic b'stard. I have never, ever been so enraged by a throwaway line from a soap character and I used to watch Eastenders.

(Re-lurks and heads back to Primary Education)

Imbroglio · 30/11/2017 19:26

Ruby is Lilian's dog. Why is she leaving her with Justin?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 30/11/2017 21:07

Surely Alfie hasn't been around long enough

I recall Pip and Toby were quick off the mark going up Lakey Hill

Imbroglio · 30/11/2017 21:19

They only met a couple of weeks ago. Even if they shagged straight away it's a bit early for tiredness etc.

TheAntiBoop · 30/11/2017 23:50

Pregnant pip will make us wish it was Helen pregnant again

Mootsie · 30/11/2017 23:59

Maybe Ian and Adam will adopt it?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 01/12/2017 00:55

Maybe Ian and Adam will adopt it?

That thought occurred to me too!

RolfNotRudolf · 01/12/2017 07:15

Surely if Pip is pregnantnow Envy Toby would be the father not Alfie? Envy

RolfNotRudolf · 01/12/2017 07:42

TA annoys me intensely but I still have to listen
im sorry I can't remember who first said this earlier in the thread but I suggested it then as a thread title Grin

LillianGish · 01/12/2017 07:51

Agree that Toby would be the father - if indeed she is pregnant. I’m very reluctant for SWs to bring in anymore children they are unable to write about. I’m thinking of the unrealistically voiced Henwee, the silent Jack, the missing Abi, the exiled Ruari, not to mention Pip’s own youngest sibling inexplicably locked in the cereal cupboard for the past two years. Is it really worth it just for a couple of weeks painful “drama” with Pip not knowing how to tell him, or her parents and then Jill’s horror at a Fairbrother becoming heir to Brookfield. The SWs haven’t even managed to keep up with Toby’s geese over the course of the year - how can they be expected to keep up with his offspring.

LillianGish · 01/12/2017 07:58

I’d like to nominate this quote I think there is a possibility that we obsess about TA in a way that most listeners don’t for inclusion in the next thread title (it’s actually from the thread before this - which only goes to show just how much we do obsess as I had to scroll back to find it Grin)

BertrandRussell · 01/12/2017 08:52

Absolutely paperweightmover (brilliant name by the way) And the "That's different" line that followed.......

But I think it's all acting from Justin anyway. All part of a plan.

RockNRollNerd · 01/12/2017 09:13

How about something along the lines of “Wreck the halls with dealer Nolly, is unto Pip a child to be born - Christmas time in Ambridge”. Surely we can get some good Christmas puns in there...

DadDadDad · 01/12/2017 09:54

I've lost track, but is the Christmas panto going ahead, and what story are they doing? And while I'm here, is the wedding likely to happen?

OP posts:
R4 · 01/12/2017 11:27

Lynda's come to save the day so the Panto will all come together at the last moment, like it always does. We're still on Sleeping Beauty with Fallon in the title role, I think. I don't understand why she and Harrison are bickering. And I got totally confused in the scenes between Harrison and Alan - couldn't tell which was which.

MrsArthurShappey · 01/12/2017 12:53

Lillian don't forget Bethany Sad

RolfNotRudolf · 01/12/2017 12:53

If Pip is pregnant they've got the timing wrong. Her offspring arriving will according to the Dopeys be the coming of the Messiah so surely she should be conceiving in March? Pip 2 will be a super farmer - forget a toy farm set, it'll be operating the robotic dairy by the age of 3.

DadDadDad · 01/12/2017 14:20

Her offspring arriving will according to the Dopeys be the coming of the Messiah

In that case, we first need the fulfilling of the angel's words to the Messiah's mother:
"Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month." Shock

We are being led a merry dance, Justin pushes Lil away, but don’t worry there is plenty of time for reconciliation before the wedding. Will they won’t they?
I have yet to catch up on the misery that is Pip, but my DH has installed a Milking Parlour for local farmer, so he could advise on the project which was the miraculous gift from D and R to Pip. I will listen with interest as will the cows.

RockNRollNerd · 01/12/2017 14:26

I’ve long suspected that birthdays in soaps cluster disproportionately around December (for a big Christmas birth episode) and September (the results of the big Christmas episode unexpected fling storyline). If you ever feel the need for more stats Dx3 you could do an analysis on The Archers for starters Smile

Puremince · 01/12/2017 15:10

Why is Lillian deluding herself? She did want Matt, it wasn't just one goodbye kiss, there was the trip to Cheltenham and various other meetings. Justin knows that Matt was messaging her (he saw one message or heard one voicemail at the Hunt Ball, in which Matt referred to them going away together). When Justin asked her to cut down on the hospital visiting, she chose to spend time with Matt.

Did she really think that her relationship with Matt wouldn't cause problems between her and Justin? If Matt hadn't been revealed as a crook, she'd still be hankering after him.

Also, presumably the police will interview Mena, who sold the horse to Melling Equestrian, and Mena will say that Lillian was involved in the business, won't she?

Why is Lillian acting as though she thinks that all she needs to do is keep her head down for a few days and everything will blow over?

EsmesBees · 01/12/2017 15:21

Lillian has never been great at facing up to things though. I remember a lot of self delusion around the whole Paul affair too.

Puremince · 01/12/2017 15:23

Some of the younger characters birthdays are:

Jan - Henry (prem)
Jan - Bethany
Feb - Pip
Mar - Ben
April - George Grundy
June -Phoebe
July - Jamie Perks
July - Abbie (prem)
Sept - Josh
Nov - Dan
Dec - Lily and Freddie

When was Jack born?

DadDadDad · 01/12/2017 16:02

Jack was born in May. I'm afraid that list doesn't give much evidence to support your theory, RockNRoll Sad
