Sorry but I couldn't resist an opportunity for puns galore Grin

Sweet if disappointingly uncontentious Guardian article by Linda Grant - bemoaning the fact that death (sometime in the future) will deprive her of continuing Archers listening.

WillSomebodyThinkOfStefan · 26/09/2015 12:19

Checking in from the other thread as ordered!

Please let HPs stay be a short one...

Gruach · 26/09/2015 13:53

Jolly good WSTOS.

But it might be a little noisier tomorrow ...

R4 · 26/09/2015 15:34

Do we have a secret handshake for new members? Or an initiation ceremony involving Tom Archer porcine products.Wink

Gruach · 26/09/2015 15:36

I'm sure Tobes could come up with one.Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/09/2015 18:40

Well, of course. You roll up both trouser legs (always good to go one better than the Masons). [If you happen to be wearing a skirt, no need to worry about this.] You will of course always be carrying a pot of Bridge Farm yoghourt with you so you can reproduce the sound of a cow calving, just like the TA production team.

I feel that I ought to welcome the new thread members with some of my infamous bunting.

WillSomebodyThinkOfStefan · 26/09/2015 18:40

An intitiation ceremony might be fun...

Abraid2 · 26/09/2015 18:41

So Linda Grant thinks there is no R4 in the afterlife?!

WillSomebodyThinkOfStefan · 26/09/2015 18:41

Surely there should be cake to go with the bunting?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/09/2015 18:44

PS Recently we happened to be walking past the Masons' Grand Imperial Lodge or whatever they call it (in Covent Garden) and suddenly noticed that from all points of the compass elderly white men were converging on the building. They were all very smartly, if soberly, dressed in dark lounge suits and they were all carrying neat little leather cases, presumably containing tiny little ceremonial trowels. Quite a sight. Have there ever been any Masons in Ambridge?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/09/2015 18:47

OK, here's a refreshment stall.

I could believe the D and R (that combo of initials is a bit freaky - hadn't realised until now they were the same as my aunt and uncle and we always refer to them by their initials!) storyline EXCEPT for the number of widowed Archers children. 2 out of 4 is just about believable - 3/4 is cursed

Surely that's enough?

You'll be wanting cider next. And then things will get mightily out of order.

Gruach · 26/09/2015 18:49

X tra cake. Grin

Gruach · 26/09/2015 18:50

tiny little ceremonial trowels.

Or trotters.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/09/2015 18:53

Elizabeth and Shula are widowed. Kenton is divorced. Nevertheless, I'd shed very few tears if Ruth was bumped off.

We could have a flower and produce stall too.

Daffodil Thanks Can't remember if there are any other suitable time-sensitive emoticons. Sad
ppeatfruit · 26/09/2015 19:22

WTF is going on? I have a break from the thread and it's ALL emoticoms, as I said WTF?

DadDadDad · 26/09/2015 20:51

I'm happy to stick a part of my body into a pig.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/09/2015 21:48

Teeth only, I hope, DDD, and on the assumption the pig has been humanely despatched and cooked. We'll have no filth here, thank you very much. Shock

ppeat, it's a kind of e-fete/show. No need to worry. Grin

DadDadDad · 26/09/2015 21:55

Er, yes, I assumed it was obvious that I was referring to my teeth and a slice of bacon. Do you think anyone would infer anything different? [innocent face]

DadDadDad · 26/09/2015 22:01

But my post at 20:51 is going to come up on every search of my name and haunt me forever, isn't it? Confused Blush

SealSong · 26/09/2015 22:19

What's happened to Jill's bees now she's moved to LL? Did she take them with her or have the SWs conveniently forgotten about them>

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/09/2015 22:30

Josh is going to look after them. Mentioned at some point this week.

DDD, that innocent face doesn't fool me.

JollyGolightly · 26/09/2015 22:49

small legs thanks for the summary back there!

CuttedUpPear · 26/09/2015 23:00

As a small way of explanation Gruach and myself were wandering about in Chat when we stumbled across an illegal Archers thread.

Of course we did the decent thing and ordered all the names on there which were unknown to this thread, to report here henceforth.

So, welcome Stefan.
