Sorry but I couldn't resist an opportunity for puns galore Grin

Well I'm glad Kirsty's coming back. Maybe she'll take up with a Fairbrother rather than Tom? Surely she wouldn't go back to him a 3rd time? Or she could finally get together with whatshisname the bird guy...??

ppeatfruit · 25/09/2015 10:54

Yes and she can support Helen who's going to need it.

Gruach · 25/09/2015 10:56

Patrick the W.I. instrumentalist?

Yes, possibly he and one of the brethren - how old is she? - might be set up as Tom rivals. But they don't have a farm and Kirsty deserves one after so many decades of service to Ambridge!

BYOSnowman · 25/09/2015 11:05

Kirsty doesn't deserve a fair brethren and she is too old for them anyway.

BYOSnowman · 25/09/2015 11:06

To make clear - she doesn't deserve them because she is too nice not because she is inferior!!

ppeatfruit · 25/09/2015 11:38

Didn't Kirstie go out with a botanist, a green studier of wild life or something?

BYOSnowman · 25/09/2015 11:45

I can't get my head around people thinking it would be possible for Tom and Kirsty to reconcile

He dumped her twice - once for a new woman and once because he wanted to be a new man.

Dare I say it but I do miss old Tom. New Tom is a little bland

Gruach · 25/09/2015 11:52

Just a little?

squeaver · 25/09/2015 11:58

Patrick - that's it!! I didn't realise that he was playing at the WI thing.

Of course, she probably is too old for any FBro action. Don't say her and Roy will have an office romance - bleurgh.

Gruach · 25/09/2015 12:01

I wouldn't like to put age (gap) limits on any Ambridge romance.

ppeatfruit · 25/09/2015 12:53

squeaver Roy only goes in for office romances Grin sorted.

PseudoBadger · 25/09/2015 13:27

Tom obviously left his quick temper and pomposity over in Canada.

thankyou for the new thread Smile

JessieMcJessie · 25/09/2015 14:00

Sorry, I haven't heard last night's - is Kirsty actually coming to run the health club or is that just MN speculation?in addition to agreeing wholeheartedly with comments up thread that Ambeidge is the last lace she would ever want to live, She is in no way shape or form qualified to do that job. what a load of bollocks if actually part of the plot.

Gruach · 25/09/2015 14:03

She's applied for the job.

Was all round the village. Grin

Toomuchtea · 25/09/2015 14:10

Yes - why? Why would you do that? Apply to the place that has seen in technicolour glory the greatest humiliation of your life.

If there is to be a sympathetic friend, why not Emmur? I can see that working really well dramatically, and it would give her lots of opportunity to discuss things with Ed. Emmur would bring the perspective of someone for whom DV is something pretty much outside her ken.

It's a bit late now the thread's 3 pages on, but brilliant title Pseudo.

Gruach · 25/09/2015 14:20

Emma's sweet, and perfectly likely to notice if Helen is unhappy, but it needs Kirsty's (latterly unused) brainpower to actually force her to act.

It would be interesting if the SWs set up a "race" to see which of the two would get to the truth of the matter first.

It must be crushing for Helen that Pat has sellotaped some rose coloured glasses to her head.

Toomuchtea · 25/09/2015 14:26

Yes, Emmur V Kirsty would be a thing worth listening to.

Absolutely agree re Pat's rose coloured glasses. I do still find Pat's Rob-love rather unbelievable tho. I do completely buy her wanting to see the best in him now he's actually married Helen, but Pat is usually pretty shrewd. Surely she'd be more likely to retain a bit, even if only the tiniest bit, of suspicion? And bearing in mind Helen's history, where the whole family have jumped like a posse of nervous cats at her every twinge, would they switch off completely?

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 25/09/2015 16:04

Patrick.was clearly mentioned at WI thing to.remind us he exists.

Contraversial but sometimes I think Rob is actually a better parent to Henwy than Helen is.

But no, no, no to PR. It has feck all to do.with responsibility which feckless nrp parents cannot be made to take, and everything to with rights which cannot easily be taken away from them. E.g. they can take absolutely no interest in a child's education but veto them moving school. And unless they are with you, you cannot leave the country, even for a holiday, without the written permission of the other 'parent'.Shock all very useful if the rp is trying to kidnap child or in an emergency but total nightmare in the hands of a manipulative, controlling prick.

LillianGish · 25/09/2015 16:12

but total nightmare in the hands of a manipulative, controlling prick. Well it has to be PR then for maximum EE effect. I really want to know what an adoption records check would turn up and I bet Helen does too. I wonder if she could set the wheels in motion herself?

Following on from the thread I made here - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/2474639-If-you-could-join-The-Archers-as-a-new-character-who-would-you-be

Anybody want to contribute here? Smile

Toomuchtea · 25/09/2015 16:22

Rob's first wife. The one before Jess.

BYOSnowman · 25/09/2015 16:27

Oh no - Patrick was mentioned at the wi event to remind us that the little women needed a clever man to do the difficult task of playing the piano

Agree that rob can be the more sensible parent. Although I think that is more a reflection of the fact that Helen always seems a bit clueless

BYOSnowman · 25/09/2015 16:28

Don't give them ideas! We are going to end up with a load of random characters played by celebs and told we brought it on ourselves.

Gruach · 25/09/2015 16:29

Oooh I have another one!

Can't recall the relevant timescale but - I'd be the child Phil and Grace had (shamefully) before they were married. Secretly given up for adoption. Naturally inheriting everything from Grace. (I haven't worked out the legal details but they would be devastating.)
