I received a parcel today that was send over a week ago. Typical christmas post.

Maxy, nothing scabby about accepting 2nd hand stuff. I have a friend who gives me all her sons 2nd hand stuff, but DS3 is too big for most of them so I just pass them on to the local charity shop. I'd have loved to have friends who had kids when I had ds1 and 2, but most of my friends are only just having their first babies. I just can't remember being so stuck up about 2nd hand things when I had ds1

janxmas · 21/12/2009 16:03

Dunoon - that was quick - have you had time to let the news sink in.

I had Luka so quickly I couldn't get to the hospital - I spent the 20 mins it took to give birth worrying that Frida would wake up and come in and see the delivery! I also apologiesed to the ambulance man who helped deliver ds that he didn't have a seat to sit on ....mad

nicolamumof3wisemen · 21/12/2009 16:19

i couldn't get from the sofa to the car to go into hospital with luka my ccontractons were 2mns apart. Plus we had to kep stopping on way EVERY 2mins for DH to rub my back mid contraction!! really thought we wouldn't make it!!

FlyMeToDunoonSanta · 21/12/2009 16:20

When I had DD1 all the other people I knew had boys and I couldn't pass on anything. Had some fantastic stuff too. Then when she was 3 we moved and I decided to get rid of loads. Had been ttc for a year and didn't know if it would ever happen again. Really regret not having some of that stuff for the other two.
I love second hand. I love a bargain!

FlyMeToDunoonSanta · 21/12/2009 16:23

I was most terrified of giving birth in the car. Silly thing was that one of my neighbours at the time was a midwife. I could have just knocked on her door.
MIL kept telling me 'shhhhh' too as we walked to car, very slowly and I had a contraction in the street. Silly cow moo.

5inthesleighbed · 21/12/2009 16:29

lol @ your MIL dunoon.

Well done selling your house so quick, and getting asking price. Are you moving towns? Can't remember if I've asked you that yet

FlyMeToDunoonSanta · 21/12/2009 16:31

Hope to rent in same town 5in.

5inthesleighbed · 21/12/2009 16:41

So not much unheaval for the kids then

My kids are doing my head in, they are so hyper!

FlyMeToDunoonSanta · 21/12/2009 16:43

Children calmed down today strangely. Touch wood. And a good job too as they nearly sent me loopy yesterday.

That's why you married him, you've got a good one there Nicola

Dd more excited about starting playgroup on her birthday than christmas and the new baby .

I did have a big today as she keeps saying all she wants on her letter to father christmas is a yoyo, some juggling balls and a skipping rope and I finally got some today to put in her stocking. All 79p and she'll prob ignore all her other presents in favour of them!!

nicolamumof3wisemen · 21/12/2009 17:58

yes he is good really, working right up til xmas eve so only chance to go without kids is when he finishes work.

BexieID · 21/12/2009 18:29

Hello! Well my waters have slowly been leaking since 3:30am, but no contractions. So am booked in for induction tomorrow morning at 8:30 if things don't happen on their own. I think my constant coughing last night made my waters break!

With Tom, had a show at 4am, waters gushed at 5am, was in labour by 6am and had had him by 9:22am! So am a little gutted this time, lol. On the bright side, baby will be here before xmas day!

My nose is well blocked up!

maxybrown · 21/12/2009 18:35

OOh how lovely jubbly Bexie!! a christmas baba, good luck xx

How exciting Bexie!!! Good luck (if second one isn't easier then don't tell me!!) get bouncing on that birthing ball!!

maxybrown · 21/12/2009 19:25

Oh and thanks 5in, that's what I meant really. We couldn't have afforded to have been so bloody fussy!

My buying and selling skills have become much improved since having DS making me able to buy him some fab clothes now, don't know how well I'd do on more than one though!

My sister did give us a couple of bits that she had hung on to and hung on to, but my niece is 14 and nephew 11 so quite an age gap so she didn't have much left! But even now we have my nieces blanket on DS's bed - that is on loan and will go back once we have finished with it

nicolamumof3wisemen · 21/12/2009 20:36

oooh bexie, good luck for tomorrow!!

5inthesleighbed · 21/12/2009 23:13

How exciting Bexie! So excited for you!

Good luck, and breathe!

nappyaddict · 22/12/2009 02:57

Oh don't get me wrong I can't afford to buy much new either but thare's that much of a market for 2nd hand stuff you can easily be fussy, get what you like and pay peanuts for it I find especially with NCT, mumsnet, car boots, the paper, ebay, freecycle etc. If friends offered me stuff I would say can I sort through what I'd like and then you can maybe sell the rest on or pass it on to someone else or if you want I can take the lot, sort out what I like and pass the rest on or take it a charity shop for you? That way at least everyone knew where they stood and there would be no comeback that I'd taken stuff and not kept it. Seen to many AIBU about similar things I think on here

nicolamumof3wisemen · 22/12/2009 08:14

Morning everyone...only 3 more sleeps! is everyone excited?

Terry's gone to marks and spencer already to get turkey before work save me going on bus/train with the dcs! good dh

FlyMeToDunoonSanta · 22/12/2009 09:07

Morning. Bexie good luck. Excited about that. Christmas still seems a bit remote. I am going to sainsbury's in a mo and will get something in in case we don't make it to grandmas house. Weather supposed to be good from now on but......

lillychristmaspuddingandpie · 22/12/2009 09:15

Good morning everyone

There is much excitement here,I picked up the most important food shop items yesterday (turkey and Christmas pud)and DP will get the rest tomorrow as I am working 12-11

I am going to brave the snow in a moment and take DD for a walk hopefully to tire her out so that she will sleep for a couple of hours this afternoon and I can put my feet up and maybe watch a film.

I feel entitled to relax a bit today as I am working 11 hours tomorrow and only have Christmas day off.

We made Christmas cards yesterday afternoon to make up for her being to poorly to go to Nursery. It was great fun but there is glitter all over my house still!

Good luck today Bexie I sure I can speak for everyone and say we will be thinking of you x

maxybrown · 22/12/2009 09:44

Morning! Dh's birthday today so DS was excited by that present opening!!

Had more snow, off to do some shopping today. We've got turkey already, just a frozen one so nothing posh! DH doesn't really like roast meals but he loves turkey sandwiches so that's the only thing that swings him for a Turkey, plus I love roasts
Wonder how Bexie is doing!

Morning I finished work yesterday - hurrah. It took me three hours to get home - a journey that normally takes 1 hour - it was crazy - people were driving on the wrong side of the road, there was a fight aswell!
Ds is at nursery - so me and dd are doing some shopping. she loves making the lists and keeping secrets. Its mine and dps 8th anniversary today - were going to go out but my mum doesn't want to drive to our flat which is fair enough, so think we will have a nice bottle and wine. I made dp go back to the doctors yesterday as he didn't seem to be getting better and he found out that he was given the wrong dose of anti biotics ...it was supposed to be double the dose
Bexie - good luck
