no he's an angel at nursery...apparently but m going to probe further in new year.

well if we leave him he will just throw himself down and kick and scream and make such a fuss i can't ignore him forever its upsettng for Tate to witness it tbh. And the other day he went on for 40mins!! thats a bloody long time screaming.

Today he woke at 12.40pm and we were going to party at 1pm so i had 20mins to change him, feed him and get him dressed again to go out in snow. Getting coat/shoes on can take at least 10mins with luka. you get his coat on then as you start shoes he's undoing coat etc etc. it is truly exhaustng!

janxmas · 19/12/2009 22:29

Nursery think Luka is an angel too - they are always telling me what a joy he is - how he makes everyone laugh - his keyworker went to extra effort with his present for Christmas and goes really soppy about him....she looks at me like I'm mad when I describe him at home. I am pleased he is happy at nursery and that he enjoys it. Someone told me that behave so differently at home because they feel safe to push the boundaries to the limit. I just Luka get on with his trantrums at home as long he is safe I walk away...but not easy when you have a school run or something else going on.
It is exhausting and I do hope very soon we will look back on these trying times and say oh remember that

maxybrown · 19/12/2009 22:33

Oh yes! I am so hot by the time I get out!! So much easier in the summer. If they give you truly honest opinions on him at nursery in new year and it is that he is "conforming" then - I know in the short term it is still shit for you, but at least you can then "know" that he does know what is acceptable and where to behave like this - which is a good thing.........even though it obviously won't seem like it. By saying that I don't mean it is "you" btw either - so bloomin hard to get yoursef across in text!

What happens when you go over to him when he's been screaming fpr ages? Please feel free to tell me to bugger off and mind my own opinion too btw

nicolamumof3wisemen · 19/12/2009 22:33

yes jan i hope so, but i do think i need help with some coping strategies!! he was v.cute and v.well behaved at the party tho.

maxybrown · 19/12/2009 22:39

Do you tell him what is going to be happening and what you expect him to do? Ie we have to be quick, need you to be a big boy, get shoes on etc or make a game of it with a timer or something? God I sound like I'm telling you what to do and i really really don't mean it like that. Make the expectations for him higher? maybe...

OP posts:
nicolamumof3wisemen · 19/12/2009 22:43

yes i do try to i always say right in 5mins boys we are going out so we really need to get packed up now etc. then 'right boys 2mins who can find their shoes blah blah' luka then starts to say 'nooooo shoes' meanwhile some sort of manic havoc sets in. hate going out esp in winter three sets shoes/boots, coats, gloves, hates, have we all got drinks, has everyone had a wee!!! etc etc you can imagine...

maxybrown · 19/12/2009 22:53

oh sorry that made me laugh as I really can picture the scene. Maybe he needs his "own" instructions, you know take him to one side - what you "need just Luka" to do? So very tiring I know - just doing things like that at work was tiring so can appreciate it must be worse at home.

See with James, because he can't speak, he just tends to go Noooooooooooooooooo wahhhhhhhhhhh, throw on floor. blah blah blah. me "GET UP!!!" Him wahhhhhhhh roll roll. Me "right bye then, see you" Him "gmh" (gobbeldy gook for bye) and waves......great! Now not so bad though as he LOVES going out, but then we are mostly in, bless him so prob why!! Also I only have one so easier to drag him along the floor assit him out or whatever it is. These things are sent to try us. My Mum always says if i had been first (I am youngest of 3 and they are 6&7 years older than me) I would have been the last!!! Cheek!

nicolamumof3wisemen · 19/12/2009 23:05

yeah i was a 'nightmare' too. Sep[cataculare at doing tantrums and dh stll says im a dram queen now.

our life is very busy, we are constantly n/out. i hate being indoors i must say. On days when both at nursery he can literally have to get dressed/undressed to go in/out say about 8 times!

nicolamumof3wisemen · 19/12/2009 23:07

btw got next sleepsuits today they are gorgeous, but v.big which im pleased about will see him right through winter.

just watching end of love actually then to bed!

maxybrown · 19/12/2009 23:10

Oh yes very good. I said they were big didn't I? Did you get 2/3 I think James would prob need 12/18 in them.....not sure if he would trip up in 18/24 lol.

Got him gorgeous jumper in Next today that I have been trying to get for couple of weeks. It is red/brown striped cotton really lovely. Online it is classed as their new in range but sold out on there too. Still no Meerkat T shirt though

OP posts:
nicolamumof3wisemen · 19/12/2009 23:15

oh yes i love that jumper!

What size you put him in Next? Luka has the stripey toggle cardi in a teal blue/brown stripe v.lovely, he kept it on today, which is unheard of with him and cardi's must have been cold!!

feet are massive in sleepsuits he kept pulling at them whilst we were reading charlie and lola! new novelty! he slept ALL NIGHT last night in his wadded sleepsuit from next and Tate slept in his fleecy one! so they were snug and slept.

but they have also gone to bed an hour later than normal last and tonight.

maxybrown · 19/12/2009 23:23

18/24 really. The jumper I got today is 18/24 and will last him a wee while shall we say lol!

I did get him a bodywarmer and some fleeces a while back but got those in 2/3 as thought they would be handy for summer too, evenings etc....

James been waking up every night at minute I think he is cold, but his room is bloody freezing. He has ikea quilt and a million blankets but thinking of getting my single quilt from parents as weightier for winter.

OP posts:
maxybrown · 19/12/2009 23:25

If you ever see the blue meerkat t shirt would really really appreciate you picking one up for me please. 2/3 would be ideal as last him through summer then too. please and thank you

OP posts:
nicolamumof3wisemen · 19/12/2009 23:36

of course

i found tates mattress he was lying one was cold due to waterproof sheet so he now lays on fleecy blanket. But its still a cold room.

luka just fell out of bed went up there he was sat on floor bless him. layed him back in bed, refused covers on the monkey!! i stroked his head for a few seconds then he let me tuck him in. he feels cosy in next sleepsuit!

maxybrown · 19/12/2009 23:41

ah bless!! I think I might have to put sleepsuit on then pyjamas over the top thing is, if he then jumps in with us he's too hot so kicks our covers off!! The other morning, Dh was scrunched below his pillow as James was lay across the WHOLE pillow like it was a little bed

OP posts:
nicolamumof3wisemen · 19/12/2009 23:49

haha! yes sounds like us. lukey didn't come in til 6am tho! was lurvely!!

right i should get off to bed. Wonder if we are having any more snow? it is forecast. At least i can get down street now without risk of breaking my neck thanks to lovely DH

maxybrown · 20/12/2009 00:03

OP posts:
nicolamumof3wisemen · 20/12/2009 00:11

BexieID · 20/12/2009 09:14

It is snowing a wee bit here atm. See it settled on the rooftops and trees, which is very pretty, but I don't want snow until after bubs comes! It's a 30 min drive to the hospital as it is, let alone with snow!

maxybrown · 20/12/2009 09:56

Morning! Well postie was knocking on our door at 8.15 this morning! snowing quite heavily here now......hope we can get out. DH has offered to take me to JL.....prob because we can't go out
