Well SK i would be really put out if my family were close by and DH was working and they didn't visit on their grandsons bday

StrictlyKatty · 14/12/2009 22:02

Thank you! That's what I thought. It's all ok for us to travel to London for a weekend of celebrations on the 2nd of Jan for SIL's birthday WHICH IS ON THE 16th! Pay for a babysitter over night, a hotel for us and a bloody casino night! But noone can be bothered to do anything for DS's birthday!

maxybrown · 14/12/2009 22:02

Don't worry SK, James gets his things from DH's parents sometime whenever and not even wrapped, they have no interest in birthdays at all. Christmas will be the same........although they were wrapped last year.

OP posts:
StrictlyKatty · 14/12/2009 22:04

I'm just a bit hurt that they will let DS and I sit alone in the house all day on his birthday

nicolamumof3wisemen · 14/12/2009 22:06

oh don't maxy, DH's parents are the same, send it all unwrapped, so this year, i thought sod it! Tate had his ice age 3 dvd weeks ago, and tom just had his harry potter tonight. Why should i wrap for them, not hard is it?!!

im going to suggest gift vouchers next year, so much easier. minimum effort on their behalf!!

nicolamumof3wisemen · 14/12/2009 22:07

Are your parents not close by SK?

Go out for lunch and soft play etc, does he have any little friends you can invite round otherwise? i would be sad too

StrictlyKatty · 14/12/2009 22:10

They are close but they are being rubbish too! He has 2 wee friends who have birthday's on the 5th and 11th of Jan and they are having little parties! It's only DS who has GP's who don't seem bothered!

maxybrown · 14/12/2009 22:18

Ds has no friends whatsoever, he didn't seem to care on his birthday. Just me!

Hey Nicola, must be a "morecambe" thing eh?

OP posts:
nicolamumof3wisemen · 14/12/2009 22:21

no they don't care, of course not, a couple things to unwrap, some cake thats all they care about!!

and yes it probably is a 'morecambe thing' lol!!

maxybrown · 14/12/2009 22:25

Yes true, and Ds doesn't even eat cake so mega easy really

I am off to bed in a mo I think. Busy day tomorrow, finally got my appt for my feet.

5inthesleighbed · 14/12/2009 22:40

I was in tears watching that baby being born. How scary!

horsemadgal · 14/12/2009 22:46

Gah I missed that programme.
DS1 didn't breathe when he was born, was the scariest moment of my life, it felt like forever.

nicolamumof3wisemen · 14/12/2009 22:53

i know, i was shouting why isn't he crying?? and no one said a thing which made me more scary. obviously they were too busy with him....

horsemadgal · 14/12/2009 23:19

I just remember them saying 'call the paediatrician' but was struck dumb.

Weirdly enough DS2 was fine when he was born but then his breathing went funny later so he was the one that had to go to special care, while DS1 had no problems as soon as he breathed.

nappyaddict · 15/12/2009 01:18

5in which course is it? I would stop getting her DD for her tbh. If she can't help you out this once then tell her to make her own childcare arrangements in future.

nappyaddict · 15/12/2009 01:22

Oh and if anyone is after a double saw a cheap nipper earlier

FlyMeToDunoon · 15/12/2009 10:50

Morning.
Feling slightly christmassy at last today. Sainsbury's delivery arrived with goodies in it. We are going to ILs but still nice to have some smoked salmon, chocolates, mince pies etc around. Decided against a tree as we are selling house and it would get in the way and shed lots of needles but DP brought home a branch the other day from the park for the fire and we are going to decorate that. Very modern and minimal lol.

5inthesleighbed · 15/12/2009 11:09

Nappy, its the Earlybir Plus one. I've already done the Earlybird one last year, but this one is more to do with education as well. I go along with DS2's 1:1 as well, so she can learn all about autism and why ds2 goes on the way he does. She is really enjoying it.

My internet/cable/phone were all down this morning! Have not long been back on. We've watched Coraline twice already .

Loving the idea of your christmas branch Dunoon. We need to see a photo when it is done.

I fully intend on telling m sister that she can sod off with her childcare arrangements. Her DP works from home, and there is no reason why he can't pick my neice up, or watch her when she is off school for that matter. My sister only works 10/11 - 3, so not as if it is all day.

Families eh, who'd have em?

janxmas · 15/12/2009 11:12

Morning all
Poor Luka is under the weather again...he is alot of discomfort with his teeth and now has developed this sort of ulcer type thing on his lip - took him to the doctors on monday and she thougth it was a viral thing - like herpes but was asking about hand, foot and mouth at nursery (don't think there has been any cases)..he hasn't got blisters on his feet. Anyway he is on anti-biotics and off nursery with dp today. Might have to take tomorrow off work - I have hardly been here in the last few weeks and am so behind. Have had no time to buy pressies - but did win that jumper for dp on ebay for which he got an email

FlyMeToDunoon · 15/12/2009 11:19

Oh dear Janx you aren't having a good time atm. It's that time of the year. Last year my DDs all seemed to get one thing after another.Do you give Luka vitamins? I started last winter as I felt I wanted to do something to help and with winter viruses there isn't much.
I also found that if they had sore throats and were generally off food and run down that good ice cream [made with cream and eggs] kept them interested, was easy to eat and was fairly nutritious [or is it?]
