TrillianAstra · 08/11/2009 15:06

Just tried it on Grat Universal and it said that discount could not be applied to my order. Order was £36 so don't know if they now won't give it out at all or if it's now only working on a min £50 spend.

Disenchanted3 · 08/11/2009 15:11

I think its stopped working now,

or add something else to make it over £50 to see, you don't have to buy it after the code is entered

Divatheshopaholic · 08/11/2009 15:21

i just tried on littlewoods, it only works minumum of 50 spend.

Lilyloo · 08/11/2009 16:20

My order has been dispatched

Lilyloo · 08/11/2009 16:23

Mine was £25 but i had to pay delivery of £3.95 so that seems to have worked.

Wolfgirl · 08/11/2009 16:24

Disenchanted3 - I have the same concerns as you. about not having the chance to return, should they decide to charge full price. Other than suspend my CC for a couple of months (to my husbands great delight), not sure what else we\one could do.

Wolfgirl · 08/11/2009 16:29

Question, not sure anyone has considered this. I dont think they are losing out too much.

Some items are not always in stock, and take up 2, 4 or more weeks for delivery. However, they take your money straight away, when it could have been in our own pocket. Agreed, the interest we could have earnt, would be no where near the discount we save, but still.... they have our money before we have the goods.

I think if they dish codes out like this, they have not learnt their lessons from previous incidents, and therefore being unfair to their customers. Sneaky and unjust.

anyone?

mummyofevilprincesses · 08/11/2009 16:52

They know what they are doing, when I tried to order through Very, I cancelled just before payment as the code hadn't worked. They have already emailed me welcoming me to the site and will bombard me with deals for ever now. I may end up buying from them eventually and they know it. Also, it makes them look good to their suppliers, all these orders going through (suppliers may have no clue that we are all getting most of the money back on despatch). I think it is a combination of clever marketing and clever bookkeeping when they otherwise may not be doing much trade at all.

Bucharest · 08/11/2009 16:57

I missed this yesterday but normally do all these littlewood's thingies (with a variety of email addresses and credit cards, but always delivering to the same UK address) They actually "rumbled" me on the last one (£30 off £60 new customers only) but I just got a nice email saying "we notice you actually already have an account with us, so we have amalgamated the 2" I still got the discount.

What codes are still working?

Disenchanted3 · 08/11/2009 17:10

The same code is working but now its £25 off min £50 spend, whereas yesteray you could spend £26 and get £25 off.

mummyofevilprincesses · 08/11/2009 17:13

Still good though, as long as free delivery kicks in.

Flightattendant · 08/11/2009 17:22

Gosh am quite glad I changed my orders around then, I'd be a bit worried they might try and claim back the £25 if I'd kept the order for £41...hopefully they won't claim anyone's back though.

Bucharest · 08/11/2009 17:31

It is still good, 50%, will have a shufty through tomorrow when dd is at school....

I wouldn't imagine they could claim back on the no-minimum-spend ones, the error was theirs after all.

Rindercella · 08/11/2009 17:35

I am hoping that the fact they have now put conditions in place for that discount code (i.e. minimum spend) means that they will honour orders already placed.

I think Littlewoods are actually getting a bit of a bargain myself - they effectively give £25 cashback to all customers in return for lots of lovely new customer details that they can sell on direct market to. The fact that it is a cash back offer rather than discount applied at source does make me a tad suspicious too

Still, I have ordered DD's Christmas present, and even if I end up paying full price, I am not that concerned as it is something I would have bought anyway, and the postage is free so it will work out at about the same price as other online retailers. I will just get my details deleted once the goods have arrived.

ScattyKatty · 08/11/2009 18:57

I imagine if you used it once it'll be fine.... I imagine if people were really greedy and made 6 orders or something ridiculous they might get a bit annoyed though!

maxybrown · 08/11/2009 22:58

I bought something I was going to buy Dh for Chrismas anyway so not overly worried. It still worked on under £50 spend this morning. It will just be a bonus for me as meant i got it for £7

Flightattendant · 09/11/2009 07:11

Well, this is odd.

My orders have been dispatched, including the ones I cancelled...so I rang asking if I would still be charged P&P and she said yes, but just refuse the order if you don't want the thing.

So then I asked about the code. I said 'I got it off the internet, does that mean I'll be charged the full amount as it wasn't sent to me?' and she said 'No you'll get the £25 off' and I said 'but it wasn't my code, I nicked it off the internet!' and she said 'No that's fine'

Oh well. Might keep the Peppa pig bike then...seeing as I'll be paying P&P on it anyway...but will send back the littlewoods one and keep the Very one or we'll have too many baby annabells

Of course stroppy tired woman on the CS helpline might be wrong and I might get a chargeback later....never mind.

Hulababy · 09/11/2009 08:16

This is my Littlewods transaction history:

Payments we've received
07/11/09 Payment Received - Thank You 36.00 CR
Sundry Items And Adjustments
07/11/09 Item Refund To 25.00
07/11/09 Promotional Discount 25.00 CR
07/11/09 REFUND TO MASTERCARD 25.00 CR
Items you've ordered
07/11/09 UA38115 Emergency Rescue Plane 36.00
07/11/09 TO BE CHARGED TO MASTERCARD ON DESPATCH 36.00

Does this mean they have taken £35 and then given me £25 back?

Bucharest · 09/11/2009 08:25

Yes, that's what happens on these Littlewood's etc codes. They charge you the full amount and then refund you the discount. Sometimes immediately (a month or so back, when there was £30 off £60 I was charged and refunded in the same afternoon as the stock was there and dispatched straightaway) I think there can be a delay if there is a delay in sending out your order. They don't apply the discount until all the order is ready because if the order doesn't go over the minimum spend requirement because of missing items, they won't apply the discount IYSWIM? Last Christmas one of my items never came into stock, so on 23rd December (having paid in full, but trying to apply discount) I was on phone to very nice bloke who suggested various other items that were similar so we could get it sorted for Christmas, the replacement item arrived the next morning and the discount/refund was applied.

I've never had a problem with them and only ever use these mega codes. You just have to remember if your credit card is near its limit that the full amount will be taken at first.

Disenchanted3 · 09/11/2009 08:26

Well, I've gone on my online bank this moring and they still have all the full amounts, no refunds of £25s yet and all my orders are sespatched for tomorrow,

Maybe its goes bak on the day of delivery.

Won't go over drawn though as have enough in there to get food shopping today so thats good.

Am excited about the bits comign tomorrow Just hope I get the refund!!

Can anyone post ASAP when they get theirs

fatzak · 09/11/2009 09:31

One of my orders is still showing "order being processed" Think I might have to be brave and call them to see if I've got the discount or not!!

NewPinkPup · 09/11/2009 09:31

My refunds were issued instantly when I look in my transaction history, if I remember right last time it took an extra working day for them to go into my bank, which I guess will happen this time too as it was over a weekend.

NewPinkPup · 09/11/2009 09:32

fatzak - go to transaction history, it should say in there if they've applied the discount, did you pay by card?

Lizzylou · 09/11/2009 09:37

I emailed Littlewoods to see if the discount was going to be applied and I got this email back this morning:

"Thank you for your e-mail.

If you use a cash discount promotion, such as £10 off, and you pay for your order with a credit or debit card, then we will process your payment in two stages. First we will charge your card with the full price of the order then we will refund your card with the value of the discount.

Please note that the payment and refund may not occur simultaneously but the refund will be made no later than when your order is despatched. Please be assured that if you were selected to receive the offer and your order meets the applicable terms and conditions, the refund will be applied to ensure that you receive the correct discounted price overall.

I can confirm that I have now refunded your card.

Please allow 14days for the credit to show on your card statement.

We hope to hear from you soon."

I used a debit card.

My Very order should be here today.

Lizzylou · 09/11/2009 09:43

And my Choice and Additions ones are due today as well.
All are showing the discount as being taken off and refunded back to my card.
