I agree 'time for me'

The thing hat i worrying me is that I cnno 'relax' and know that I am 'OK' to use the code as they could charge me months down the line.

If Im not entitled to it thats fine but I want to know that now or straight after delivery so I have the option of returning them.

Waiting till after Christmas till everything has been opened and the saying 'oi give us the rest' is not fair.

And for alot of people its not 'greed', its the opotunity of getting their kids some decent stuff for Christmas.

If littlewoods/very etc didn't want the codes to be used then there are ways of ensuring they are only used byt hose intended.

Part of me is worrying that they sent them out before Xmas on purpose and are planning to charge for them after??

Maybe we could ask MNHQ to contact them and clarify the rules and ask them at what pointfter purchase minus the £25 code do they leghally become ours at that price with no risk of highe illing.

Then once that time has passed we can wrap them up?

TimeForMe · 08/11/2009 13:04

I think if we contact them too much about the code we are going to attract more attention to it and we are more likely to have it revoked. I think we should just relax and see what happens for now, then if they do try to take money further down the line we make a big stink about it. I think considering what happened in 2007 they have been very stupid leaving themselves open like this as we could very easily accuse them of entrapment and underhand dealing.

Don't forget that loads of us did this last year with no problems whatsoever so it has as much chance of going right as it has of going wrong. Try not to worry too much

reallywoundup · 08/11/2009 13:06

its simple as far as a lawyer can see (have just asked BIL!)- they cannot take an unauthorised ammount off your card, so they ask you for the £25, you say no- whats they worst they can do? you don't have a credit agreement with them so they can't chase you for it, you have not agreed to pay that £25!

Relax and enjoy a bargain- and think of the millions of pounds in interest that they make out of people who HAVE to buy all their christmas stuff on credit and then can only afford to pay a small ammount per month! the interest rates on catalougues are about 40%

Flightattendant · 08/11/2009 13:08

Dis, I agree entirely.

It isn't about trying to be greedy, it is about trying to economise by using a legitimate code which may or may not be allowed...I think all of us just want to know whether or not we are allowed to use it or not, and if not, will accept that graciously! What nobody wants is to use the code thinking it might be fine (which undoubtedly it has in the past) but then being told it isn't way down the line.

That's underhand and sneaky of the company, and I don't think it is very moral.

I would be happy if they would just be clear about whose code it is and whether it is Ok for us to use it or not, then we could make a conscious decision not to!

Disenchanted3 · 08/11/2009 13:14

Yes Flight, if Im not entitled I will return them imediatly, but how long do you have to bloody wait before you know thats not going to happen??

They should add a timeframe to their T&C.

I think their T&C are worded in such a way as to scaremonger people, feel guilty about using a code they aren't entitled to, it puts the responsibility at the feet of the user when it is the Company itself who should be taking responsibility by ensuring the code is locked to anyone unauthorised to use it. It works too doesn't it?

Ah fuck it, lol

Im not bothering anymore,

If the stuff comes and includes code ill keep, if not ill send back.

If they try to charge later on I'll deal with it then

TimeForMe · 08/11/2009 13:26

Agree with Shiney. If this is worrying you too much then cancel. I'm going to risk it and if they try to take money from my card further along the line there will be hell to pay!

Yep, my thoughts exactly Shiney. Look at all the new customers they have gained from this. They are relying on people to continue ordering and will soon be sending an influx of emails with further tempting codes, none of which will match this one though They think their marketing is clever but it ain't as clever as us Mnetters! [grin}

Disenchanted3 · 08/11/2009 13:36

If there are any stories of them trying to take any £25s cancel your card and order a new one, they wont have your new details so wont be ble to, though I don't see how they think they can just take money later on anways

But then again they have taken the full amount when we only authorised a smaller amount.

mummyofevilprincesses · 08/11/2009 13:37

Just tried Very, but it said the code could not be applied to my order. They must have reached their quota of new customers and cancelled the code. Ah well, the other 3 I did yesterday seem to have gone through, just not getting the Go Go Hamsters or Stylophone (probably for the best lol).

i think if everyone only orders wht they would be willing to pay full price for we will be fine.

shame they charge so much more than the shops though.

IdrisTheDragon · 08/11/2009 14:05

One of mine has been dispatched.

memoo · 08/11/2009 14:52

I Ordered a pair of jeans for £40, order went through fine looked liked discount had been applied and got confirmation email.

I have just checked with my bank though and littlewoods have taken the full £40 from my account!!

Naetha · 08/11/2009 14:53

Not working any more - annoying cos I wanted to get a baby carrier! Thought I'd ordered it yesterday, but hadn't gone trhough because it was £25 exactly.

IdrisTheDragon · 08/11/2009 14:57

Memoo they will apply the discount when it is about to be dispatched - they do it in two parts.
